Preston Davey - whole life term for murderer and 25 years for the partner.
Let’s hope and pray yet again things change so no more poor babies and children die.

I would. If prisons aren’t safe for all prisoners they’re not safe for anybody including those on remand who haven’t been convicted of anything and the staff.

Those don't usually register. Unfortunately, these rapist paedophiles will probably have protection.
Then again someome got to Ian Watkins finally.

TiredCatLady · 18/06/2026 13:57

Like others, I echo hoping that those monsters spend every single second of their sentences in fear.

Anyone making excuses for them, frankly, fuck off.

This wasn’t just child cruelty or neglect. The poor child died in an utterly horrific manner - what has been reported makes it very clear what the prosecution believe happened - it’s just inconceivably awful.

Kbcdtyijgd · 18/06/2026 13:58

Someone got to Watkins, someone got to Huntley
Time will tell

You can't taint all men on this couple's actions.

They knew they could beat the system and they did.

Not all men are sick abusive paedophiles.

Also - the hospital admissions and they were allowed to take him hone.

dottiehens · 18/06/2026 14:00

Yeah let’s say that the guards should look to the other side rather than put their own lives at risk to protect those scumbags. I hope they suffer greatly and in proportion to their crime.

Ohcrap082024 · 18/06/2026 14:00

The sentences today are wholly appropriate for such dreadful, horrific crimes. I hope that they do suffer in jail for a very long time.

As an ex teacher myself, I keep coming back to a horrible thought. This barbarity doesn’t come from nowhere. That monster who had access to many children through his work must be thoroughly investigated now in terms of his behaviour before Preston.

AlgaeDreams · 18/06/2026 14:01

I can't stand to look at the picture of that beautiful baby smiling for photos taken by his abuser.

He only wanted love, he thought he was getting it. He trusted and loved them.

I've reached a stage where I can understand how those two men got to be like how they are. I grew up in a very abusive home and I did a huge amount of healing and research. Those men were more than likely - severelyabused themselves as children. This hardens people and makes them become cruel.

As a society , we are all failing children. What is making adults be cruel to children? Too much pressure on adults, not enough help. Also people were abused themselves and copy behaviour,

Jamie Varley in this instance said he couldn't cope with looking after the baby. In this case the men were extra disgusting. But it is society that needs to change.

How can we all improve as a society. We need to give more support to parents so they are more able to cope. My aunt was abusive to her son when he was a child. I saw her constantly shout at him and show him no live. When I was older, she told me that she found it too difficult and couldn't cope

While I agree that a lot of abuse is generational and difficult to avoid in some situations, both these men were fully capable of choosing their actions. They were not dysfunctional, showing signs of being traumatized, drugged or anything like that they were successful in their careers and clearly capable of choosing right from wrong. I believe the primary motivations for the horrors inflicted on that baby were sexual, they were two men who got sexual gratification in terrorising and violating a tiny baby..it's a horror beyond most normal people's imaginations because it's just too horrendous to even picture in one's mind but it actually happened and they eventually abused him so viciously they actually killed him as a result. They knew what they were doing and they actively enjoyed it, I honestly hope they meet a similar end themselves.

oliviaAustin · 18/06/2026 14:04

I think foster children should have a yearly medical check up and access to a therapist session each year to discuss their experience with their foster parents. And those too young to speak should be medically checked for their wellbeing every 6 months. I don’t understand why children who are wards of the state are not checked for health and happiness.

"both these men were fully capable of choosing their actions. And not showing signs of being traumatized"

Didn't Jamie Varley say several times to friends, family and colleagues that he wasn't coping well with the baby. He wrote that the baby was a bad sleeper and he was not coping.

JazzyAmbs · 18/06/2026 14:06

Sick bastards. At least the judge has done better here than in some recent cases. I hope their lives are hell.
i said on the other thread there will be much more to come out on these two once the sentence is done. This didn’t come from nowhere.

A baby not sleeping is not the cause of them being sexually abused and you know it. The man derived pleasure in violating that child's body in ways I would rather not know about. Him being a 'bad sleeper' is irrelevant..

I'm not taking about the sexual abuse. Paedophiles are everywhere and are repugnant

I'm saying that he showed many signs that he was not coping with the baby. He told many people. His friends, colleagues and family should also have stepped in and reported this

But this whole case is about how a child died while after being repeatedly sexually abused?
And yes there were multiple failings on the part of those who had the chance to step in, in particular the hospital where he was brought in three times with suspicious injuries before finally dying on the 4th hospital visit.

I’m not sure every six months would have prevented this.

Horrendous. He’s so smiley. Fark

Utter arseholes. Depraved bastards.

The bbc have just shared a video of Preston giggling with his foster parents before he went to that vile couple. Really hard to watch. The poor, poor baby.

I agree it made me cry.

His injuries were from several different things. As far as I remember reading about it

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 18/06/2026 14:16

I just watched that video of the beautiful, sweet Preston, laughing in his high chair. My goodness, I shouldn't have. I'm crying now, welling up for the precious soul who didn't deserve the evil bastards to go anywhere near him.

I hate humanity at times. That poor, poor boy.💔

ETA i don't ever try to swear but those monsters have made my blood boil. What shitty bastards are capable of such evil? It actually incenses me beyond anger.

It's cases like these that can actually permanently change your view of people in general. I'm trying at the moment to not read too much news and try to focus on the good people do because I've been so shaken by this. Anger, disgust and so much sadness combined and I know many others have reacted the same to this.

Yes another thing is I think that the authorities made excuses because the dads were in "good jobs" . One was a teacher.

If it was minimum wage Jim and Joe from the council estate, they probably wouldn't even be allowed to adopt a child. And if there was one bruise on the baby , the baby would have been taken off them..

The Class system is also failing children.

maudelovesharold · 18/06/2026 14:19

Don't get me wrong, a whole life sentence and a 25 year sentence is entirely appropriate for the shocking and horrific way Preston Davey died.

No, it’s not. Fazakerley was sexually abusing Preston, as well. The post-mortem proved it from stomach contents, also that Preston had a ruptured colon and had likely had his airway blocked on a previous occasion, Who knows which of them was responsible for what? They should both have been dealt with equally, and I shall be requesting a sentence review, as any member of the public can. More appropriate for him would have been a life sentence with a minimum tariff of 25 years. He’ll be eligible for parole in 16/17 years time.

Oh absolutely. You said exactly what i think, and there isn't enough justice in the world to make things better or bring back that beautiful baby. His sweet little face reminded me of how my eldest daughter looked as a baby, smiling and giggling. Oh god. It hurts my soul to think of him suffering 💔
