“Whether you’re a military analyst or a political analyst, whether you’re in the Democratic or Republican party, there’s a reality here. Donald Trump has met the moment of truth. The kind of fictional life that he’s led and evoked over the last four or five decades has now been unmasked as a deadly drama. It’s going to cost the lives of so many people. It’s going to devastate the US economy and the regional economy. It’s going to set back America and its standing in the world. It’s a horrific moment.”
Larry Jacobs, director of the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance at the University of Minnesota.

This sounds like things are going well.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to
step down, sources say.

I'm assuming the general raised his concerns about the forthcoming operation in the ME. It's going to be a shitstorm.

Yep, there is the old saying (Clemenceau?) that "war is too important to be left to the generals" but we are deeply in the brown stuff if this war gets left in the hands of this bunch of politicians.

logicisall · 02/04/2026 23:48

I want to hear how KKK Karoline is going to spin injuring 95 and killing 8 (so far) people, presumably construction workers on the Karaj bridge. By tomorrow they'll all be undercover IRGC, building a missle base, or nuclear weapon scientists.

Latest UK O&G news. I'm sure there'll be opposition from the Greens, and a few in Scotland. But I hope the gov't has done their sums right.

"You're fired!"

Inside USA: Fired for NOT hiding Epstein association.

Another war crime. Destroying civilian infrastructure (and presumably lives)

A new bridge apparently too. So pointless given that previous routes will still be in place. Destruction for spite.

But what I notice from that image is the terrain. Those are serious mountains. Not plains or rolling hills. The pro boots on the ground folk have been told about this continually but they keep ignoring it. The geography suits defence. not attack.

Sky news reports .... GONE

"Pentagon confirms US army's chief of staff 'will be retiring'
Following on from reports in the US (see 21:31), the Pentagon has now confirmed what's been circulating in the media over the past hour or so.
General Randy George, they said, will be retiring from his position - effective immediately.
Various reports in the US, including from our partner network NBC News, stated the defence secretary moved to sack George.
He was expected to serve longer in the job, at least until summer, according to two officials.
George was the 41st chief of staff of the US army and started the role in September 2023.
His removal is just the latest of more than a dozen firings of top generals and admirals by Hegseth since he first took office."

Stalin famously purged the red army as we know. But what is not commonly known is that Mao done the same in the '30s. When he was running the Jiangxi soviet, he "done away" with about 15k officers and cadres etc for lack of "political purity". It was so bad that he was sacked. This was before the Long March. And when the Long March (The great retreat) started, he was almost left behind. But he wrangled a place, and the rest is history. But not the history that the Party claim.

So another Trump parallel to Mao.

RedTagAlan · 03/04/2026 01:55

This is totally unexpected. From my usual feed.

"Company backed by Trump sons looks to sell drone interceptors to Gulf countries
A drone maker backed by the two eldest sons of US President Donald Trump is trying to sell interceptors to Gulf countries while they are under attack by Iran.
Florida-based Powerus announced a deal last month to bring Donald Jr and Eric Trump on board, with the company's latest sales drive positioning it to potentially benefit from the war that their father initiated.
Co-founder Brett Velicovich told the Associated Press the company is making sales pitches that include demonstrations in several Gulf countries to show how its defensive drone interceptors could help ward off attacks from Iran.
“We have very incredible tech that can save lives,” said Velicovich.
He refused to name countries where the demonstrations were taking place or give further details."

Nothing to see here, as the corrupt folk always say. Yup. Peanut farm not.

No, I know, I know. In her own way, she's just as bad as he is.

And if Scrotus is 'the smartest person in the room' then the room must be filled with rocks. Or MAGAts. Same difference.

As an example of his reading, I had a look for that interview when Trump was asked what his favorite Bible verse is, and he vaguely answered " 2 Corinthian I would say".

But I found the web is full of sites with prayers for Trump. About how he is the anointed one and all that. Anyway, he did update his favorite bible verse to show how "Bible smart" he is. How well read. This from a 2016 interview:

"Well, I think many. I mean, when we get into the Bible, I think many, so many. And some people, look, an eye for an eye, you can almost say that, That's not a particularly nice thing. But you know, if you look at what's happening to our country, I mean, when you see what's going on with our country, how people are taking advantage of us, and how they scoff at us and laugh at us. And they laugh at our face, and they're taking our jobs, they're taking our money, they're taking the health of our country. And we have to be very firm and have to be very strong. And we can learn a lot from the Bible, that I can tell you."

Brain the size of a planet.

If true, this explains Trumps flapping.

"Roughly half of Iran’s missile launchers are still intact and thousands of one-way attack drones remain in Iran’s arsenal despite the daily pounding by US and Israeli strikes against military targets over the past five weeks, according to recent US intelligence assessments, three sources familiar with the intel told CNN."

RedTagAlan · 03/04/2026 04:23

A new TRUTH.

Bridges and power plants next (again). Has he forgotten about the missiles ? Israel are reporting another wave from Iran. Is that the same Iran as Trump says "decimated" their missiles. I mean, to be fair, decimate did mean to destroy a tenth of as I recall.

Is he making an Austrian Corporal mistake. When that fella switched from airfields to London ?

I suspect I am about to be double corrected for the above :-)

I have a day of grandchild sitting and then so much to catch up on!

I am learning a lot from you all - but I never expected to be managing such information ha and don’t follow all of it around warfare - but some understanding is really helpful.

I wondered on here, forever back, if important military folk ever suggested they need some aim, or similar - I learned they are there to do - I suppose then it’s getting less and less likely there’s any plan and instructions are wildly dangerous and useless. Blowing up bridges, which I learned can be pointless too (thank you) smacks of a small boy smashing up his big Lego structures or something - essentially as trump says ‘just for fun’ - absolutely diabolical.

I can’t recall which Barbie is which very easily but they’re not pleasing trump - are they expected to more than the Kens? Or is he all for equality on his sackings? Interesting, if concerning, he is replacing with men - maybe the trad guys are influencing him - looking at Vance though he does seem to be in hiding!

Throwing this in randomly re Trump’s reach to cause chaos - when my colleague redid his mortgage early last year and deciding the length of fixed term to take, the advisor said they had generally expected rates to keep going down though slowly but now Trump was in all bets were off! This is in the U.K. yes - his capacity and reach to screw folks over in so many ways is indeed bigly amazing!

One day I’ll get on here and things will have turned around - till then thanks for keeping me a bit better informed and not too fed up 😃

Refinery in Kuwait was hit overnight. I'm now getting worried for my contacts there as Kuwait is being hammered.

Spandauer · 03/04/2026 08:48

unconfirmed report in Guardian this morning.

Iran armed forces says US fighter jet shot down over Iran
Iran has said a second US F-35 fighter jet has been shot down over Iran, with the state news agency saying it’s unlikely the pilot survived, Reuters reports.
The incident comes as Iran has been firing on targets across the Middle East, on Friday, including firing missiles at Israeland Bahrain, and setting alight an oil refinery in Kuwait with drone attacks.
Last month, the US military said in a statement that a US F-35 aircraft conducted an emergency landing after flying a combat mission over Iran. The military said the pilot of that jet was in stable condition.
A spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central HQ said on Friday the second F-35 jet was shot down over central Iran by Revolutionary Guard air defences, with low chances of pilot survival, Reuters reported.
There was no immediate comment from the US, and the Guardian has not been able to confirm the report.

Also, Yvette Cooper calling Iran 'reckless' is a bit much when it is facing a threatening situation that was started by Net and Trump. What exactly is Iran supposed to do?

Exactly. Somebody isn't reading the room.
If Iran are "reckless", what the hell does that make Israel and the USA other than feckless thugs?

She said Iran's 'reckless" closure of the Strait of Hormuz

RafaistheKingofClay · 03/04/2026 09:35

The strait of Hormuz would still be open if it weren’t for the reckless actions of Israel and the US.

Those bombers taking down bridges had better or better taking off from here.
