I don't remember anything about Hilary planning to smear Bernie. TBH since the 'But he's CATHOLIC!!!" smear campaign against JFK in the '60 election I can't really remember religion or lack thereof being brought up as an issue in any major campaign until Scrotus decided to use it. In the 2016 campaign it was about building support with the evangelicals but it wasn't until 2020 that he started really saying that MAGA is 'the arm of God' or other nonsense. And of course the 2024 campaign basically said if you weren't MAGA you couldn't even call yourself a Christian.

I couldn't tell you what religion most politicians are or how 'devout' they may be other than some of the MAGAt's who wear their religion on their sleeves and to tout how it supposedly colours everything they do. Same goes for atheist politicians. I suppose there are some but I have no idea who they are. Bet the Evangelical MAGAT's can tell you that though. Most of us don't care if they're Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Atheist, or Zoroastrian. We just want them to do the job they were 'hired' for; looking out for the welfare of the American people. All of them.

He's just undermined that unit's chain of command and effectively given those so inclined a licence to be utter cowboys and cowgirls if they claim they were being patriotic...

Apparently Hegseth has blocked the promotions of 4 1-Stars - unsurprisingly 2 are women and the other 2 are black men.

In normal times the SoD (rather an apt acronym and I refuse to use SoW) doesn’t even look at the 1-Star promotions, so this is a deliberate choice.
