A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Yes, and 'more Hannah Spencers coming...but not literal Hannah Spencers'. Thanks Zach 🙄 you intellectual powerhouse.

CaveMum · 27/02/2026 10:36

Wouldn’t put it past the Greens to tell all their candidates to pop on a pink shirt and identify as “Hannah” 😜

But joking aside, I agree that the Greens are highly unlikely to ever be able to get within touching distance of governing - they will mainly win MPs in areas with a high % of students and/or those focussed on Gaza as a high priority issue (note, I’m not saying Gaza isn’t important).

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 27/02/2026 10:50

I wonder what the odds are now on each of the most likely Starmer challengers. I can’t see Mahmood or Streeting winning it: she’s too ‘right-wing’ for the frothing Labour grassroots, and he’s in a constituency that will boot him out in spectacular style - much more so than Denton & Gorton - because of the Muslim vote.

Which leaves…? Cooper maybe.

Can you imagine the comedy gold if Rayner or Lammy got it!

redange · 27/02/2026 10:54

In hindsight I am quite pleased with 29% for Reform at the By-Election especially as the 'right' only had about 32-33% to play for. Nick Buckley is a Fool and the Tory Candidate was given no chance to even register above 2% . The Conservative Candidate is a very capable senior Policewoman

It’s Rayner isn’t it topping the odds? Maybe I’ve lost track of all that.

She was first off the blocks with a tweet today.

Her tweet was definitely a shot at Starmer wasn't it.

Ok. I shall enjoy a break, will be nice not coming on MN every day for a bit.

The next thread is our birthday edition. Labour isn't working is 1 year old. 🎂🎉
Thank you all.

This is the cartoon I was going to put on the next thread.

I'm not impressed with Kemi's reaction to this situation

She needs to focus on getting the Tory party in order and not criticise everybody else. I don't like how she's been criticising Robert Jenrick either. Seems petty and spiteful. Much better to focus on what her party can actually do.

although I think she needs to distance herself from the Boriswave and be very clear that it was a problem. It may be against etiquette or something but I think it would be really helpful.

Brilliant

Thank you for these threads. It’s made mn so much better, a place away from Labour posts.

I’ve seen a statement from Badenoch online about the by-election. It seems to me to be unobjectionable, truthful, straight talking.

I imagine the left will think it’s horrifying. 🙄

I haven’t seen Badenoch attack Jenrick except in terms he really ought to expect.

EmeraldRoulette · 27/02/2026 12:27

@DenizenOfAisleOfShame is that the same one I've seen?

I don't think it comes across well at all - i'm all for calling out what's gone wrong but this looked like blaming other people for her party doing badly.

essentially, she's accusing the three parties - who did better than hers - of all sorts of things. It may be true in some cases, but it just looks like a statement made by a loser.

A general statement raising concerns about the way it was conducted would've been better - but I'm not sure where we are now on the family voting situation. The returning officer has said it hasn't happened, haven't they?

As for Robert, she's used social media to make a few digs where she didn't have to say anything. I think that would be the dignified thing to do. But I would very much welcome more dignity in politics. It might not play well with the public, I don't know.

EasternStandard · 27/02/2026 12:28

I haven’t seen Kemi’s response but Labour are either obsessing about the Tories or Reform on here.

Post May elections will be fun. I imagine the latter will get them going.

They're all doing it.

I would like to hear what their plan is. For all of them. Constant attacking your opponent just implies that you've got nothing to say for yourself and your own plan.

DameProfessorIDareSay · 27/02/2026 12:30

Here’s the statement; can’t see anything wrong myself, I think pointing out the duplicity of the other parties is spot on.

Wow I agree that it was Labour who got the bloody nose, not Reform. I think Reform will do very well in other areas, so not sure why Labour supporters are crowing.

Imagine if Andy Burnham had stood - could've been so different!

The Greens are a worry, but will they do well in other areas? I seriously doubt it.

I don’t think it would have been. The greens made a massive play for the Muslim vote - leafleting in Urdu with photos of KS with the Hindu Indian PM. I doubt any of the Muslim green vote would have swung to Andy Burnham just because… well … he’s Andy Burnham.

It was so blindingly obvious that Starmer should have let Burnham stand. If Burnham had won, it wouldn’t have made Starmer’s position in Labour any worse than it already is. And Starmer could have looked big and confident. If Burnham had lost, that would have seen him off for good.

Now Starmer’s got the worst of everything. He looks like a cowardly loser.

Starmer is an imbecile.

I see some posters trying to suggest that the Greens didn’t benefit from a Muslim vote. Who the fuck are they trying to kid? Do these posters seriously think that swathes of voters in Manchester suddenly got on board with net zero, bat protection and rewilding?

This 💯

I know Burnham would have won that by election. Starmer's treatment of Burnham made AB even more popular, and he is seen as separate from the Westminster shit show.

Yes big error from Starmer on that one. It could cost him his leadership but he’ll probably cling on for a while.

Amazing. They thought they could win the by election by ranting about Reform. Have they learned nothing?

Karl Turner has been ranting on Sky 😬

I really like the first 4 paragraphs. It's hard-hitting, and to the point. I wish she'd left the last paragraph out though. It comes across as bickering with Starmer and it's a jarring contrast to the rest.

I like that she's started saying that the UK isn't broken. I find it comforting that she doesn't think it's a lost cause.

Tbf she has a point on Starmer too. Labour will bristle and run around shouting Kemi as per. Let em tear themselves down.
