A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Ps. That pine marten told me she wouldn’t vote for Labour in a million years. She said they’re champagne socialist hypocritical loons . I whole heartedly agreed.

Let's get the warm feeling regarding Labour achievements. Workers and renters rights. Improvements in the NHS; doctors, nurses, and appointments. New energy bill and a 7% saving this year for all households. Closer ties to the EU economically, which substantially benefits small business. All great achievements within two years. If I was a millionaire I'd be very happy.

Let the rivers of milk and honey flow!

Grants were offered and she passed the entrance exam. She decided not to go. She decided to go local. Got a first at Manchester University.

@placemats Since you’re such a staunch Labour supporter it seems pretty hypocritical to even consider a private school for your dd.

Cognitive dissonance.

Couldn't resist. Many thanks for listening to me.

You’re very welcome.

Although I think it would be a travesty, I have a feeling that Labour might squeeze through the middle in Gorton to win. In which case I won’t be too upset as it would probably leave Starmer in place. Which is gold dust for anyone - i.e. more or less everyone - who thinks Labour’s a disaster.

If he has to go after about 3pm tonight, it will be merely joyous.

Don't scratch the itch. It might bleed. None of my children were privately educated.

I actually think it's typical of Labour's MN supporters, they always support the best for the many but only when that best is best for them.

Why not allow your child to go for an entrance exam when she's happy to do it? She decided she wanted to go to the local school. Choice is a good for business.

Why?

Because you've been shopping around about what's best for your child while voting for a party you knew was going to take away that choice from other children?

Julen7 · 26/02/2026 20:42

Oh God I’m off this thread till certain people have gone, if they ever do.

Look at it from another angle.

All these visits happen when things go really badly for the Beloved Leader and the Beloved Party.

By-election night nerves?

It was an invitation to apply and why not go? Grants were offered on tax payers money I might add. She was successful on the entrance exam and the grants but she didn't want to go there. So as parents we accepted her decision and declined.

Is that clear enough for you?

The very definition of shopping around for a school's place.

Ummmm freedom of choice. My neighbour a staunch Labour supporter had her varicose veins done at the Spire last week.

Yes I’d say some by election nerves on here from Labour.

Labour ha a huge majority in Parliament. No worries 😁

The Spire does operations under the NHS.
