Are you tired of the never-ending dismal weather?

I am. In West Yorkshire we've hardly seen any sunshine this year so far. It's been mainly low cloud, mist, fog, drizzle and persistent rain since early January. Last night, for a change, we had wet snow for about two hours so that was mildly exciting. I don't mind it being cold as such as it is winter, after all. But the greyness is so dispiriting. Where are the bright chilly days with blue sky and sunshine - with a hint of warmth?

forecast snow where I am today. The worst thing for me is the almost constant high winds.

Trainstrike · 05/02/2026 07:32

The forecast for me up until 18th February shows 100% cloud cover predicted every single day except one. I think I've seen blue sky twice in the past month.

Proccy · 05/02/2026 07:52

Yes, the weather is shit. I write this listening to the wind and rain hammering into the windows yet again, knowing when I finally persuade my dog we must have a walk we'll both be cold, wet and miserable

Yep I hear you! South Wales here and today we have yet ANOTHER weather warning for rain. I've lost count but it feels like a week doesn't go by without one. I just want some blue skies and a few dry days pleeeeeease 😪

TheGoldenApplesOfTheSun · 05/02/2026 08:57

Yep. It’s gotten to the point where even a plain grey day without it hammering down with rain would feel like a relief. Have honestly forgotten what proper sunshine looks like.

Remember when it was called Global Warming?

But it is global warming, this is how it presents

Loopylalalou · 05/02/2026 09:30

Wiltshire - yesterday was sunny-ish without rain. I was happier, more motivated, and wrapped up and read in book outside for half an hour. Today it’s grey and again the forecast is for rain and wind which is why I’m still sat on the sofa reading Mumsnet.

I’ve got that today in Yorkshire, I never thought I’d be grateful for a grey, cold but dry day!

Yes same, pretty much 100% rain.

So miserable!!! I saw a tiny bit of blue sky yesterday, had to take a picture as I was so surprised.

roll on spring!!

Is anyone else getting slight pressure headaches during the day? I have this and I never get headaches, I'm putting it down to low pressure in the atmosphere. It's pelting down here, and one of the fence panels is now loose in the wind too.

I think I am going a bit crazy now.

Sunshineandshitbags · 05/02/2026 10:35

I'm in Cornwall. It rained all night here but it's sunny now. Looking forward to a nice walk at lunch before the next decade of rain begins 😅

Sunshineandshitbags · 05/02/2026 10:36

Aaaaaaaand it just started raining. And we have a weather warning for rain. Lovely

TheTecknician · 05/02/2026 10:41

Drizzly in WY this morning but very light drizzle. Misty and an easterly wind of 20kts with gusts of over 30kts. 'Wintry mix' forecast this afternoon!

Here in lovely London we have had a lot of rain and some grey days. But we’ve also had some gorgeous sunny and cold days, including yesterday and at least four days of the last week, maybe more. It seems to rain overnight and sometimes clear up in the daytime although not always, like today. I was out frolicking round Lincoln’s Inn Fields last Wednesday in the winter sun and I know there’s been at least four more sunny days since then. Yet I heard on Radio London at the weekend, the presenter moaning that he hadn’t seen any sun, clearly not true although he may have been up at 5am, or something silly, and not been out again so far that day

caramac04 · 05/02/2026 10:50

Midlands here and we’re not getting anywhere near the amount of rain many others are getting but I am utterly sick of the grey gloom and rain.
I was thrilled to see a bit of blue sky yesterday but it was short lived.
Just back from a short, cold and wet walk with the dog. We need long walks! Frost would be preferable but we’re locked into a pressure system that pretty much guarantees rain for about the next 10 days or possibly longer.
This weather needs to feck off.

PeonyPatch · 05/02/2026 10:50

Bring on spring is all I can say

upinaballoon · 05/02/2026 10:55

Water is one of, or possibly the most, wanted commodity on the earth.

I have to drive southwards soon. I will be able to see well because it's dull and the sun won't be banging my eyes out.

Two consolatory thoughts.

SnowFrogJelly · 05/02/2026 10:55

Sun came out briefly yesterday.. this morning back to the same old shit

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 05/02/2026 11:00

I am desperately trying to dry my sofa cover (had to be washed, dog/mud/people coming round perfect storm). It's too big for the heated airer; woke up this morning to more wind and no rain so hung it on the line, whereupon it instantly started to rain again. It's a four seater sofa throw, it's bloody enormous and I'm thirty miles and a very long walk from my nearest laundrette. A few nice crisp sunny days would be good. The weather just knocking off with the rain would be good.

Flowersbloominwinter · 05/02/2026 11:03

Yep. Community nurse and it’s fucking freezing getting in and out of my car multiple times a day. Country rural roads blocked by floods making it even harder to reach out patients. Urgh I’ve had enough now!!!

Crunchymum · 05/02/2026 11:05

London had a brief respite yesterday. Was cold but bright. I'm very glad I took a long canal walk.

We don't have a car so mainly walk. January (and now February) has been abysmal. As was the most of December.

The only dry, bright spell we have had was typically over Christmas and NY when we were all off work and school and didn’t have to trudge about in it.

My DP is self employed and is currently working on an outside project, he hasn't managed a full 5 day week since the project began in late October!!!

ReignOfError · 05/02/2026 11:09

We had a sunny afternoon in my part of the midlands yesterday. Back to ceaseless grey and rain today. I am so sick of it.

larkstar · 05/02/2026 11:19

It's hard going ATM - I had some great days in January with the sun out on the dog walks but my wellies are sinking deeper in the mud and my mood is sinking too - I'd rather it be frozen out - I can sometimes manage to convince myself it's cozy in the house if I can get into a book and huddle over that for an hour a day - which is what I did in January but now I've finished that book I've been struggling to pick one of the 12 I have earmarked for the year - none of the first few pages of anything are grabbing me ATM but maybe the last book was a hard act to follow... so finding a book works for me. The Winter Olympics might help.
The BBC Weather app has once again, forecast 14 days of rain or drizzle with black clouds every hour of every day... that's not helping - I need to stop looking at that.

canyon2000 · 05/02/2026 11:23

West Yorkshire here too! We have started looking at going somewhere sunny next month for a long weekend as we are fed up of the grey/wet/mud/mist......

countrygirl99 · 05/02/2026 11:50

We're having our thatched roof re-ridged. 2 week job that has so far taken nearly 3 and will probably run into next week now
