Are you tired of the never-ending dismal weather?

I am. In West Yorkshire we've hardly seen any sunshine this year so far. It's been mainly low cloud, mist, fog, drizzle and persistent rain since early January. Last night, for a change, we had wet snow for about two hours so that was mildly exciting. I don't mind it being cold as such as it is winter, after all. But the greyness is so dispiriting. Where are the bright chilly days with blue sky and sunshine - with a hint of warmth?

Join me if you too are experiencing dull weather in your area.

Yep, absolutely sick of it. Going to the stables twice daily, trudging through thick gloopy mud. Everything, including me is filthy.

Bluebunnylover · 04/02/2026 13:27

I’m in the south and we have had the same weather OP

I too was excited by the sleet last night lol

mondaytosunday · 04/02/2026 13:28

So much rain (though sunny today). London. I’m hoping this means all the reserves will be filled so if a dry summer no hose ban (my son had one last summer). I do remember 40 years ago asking my bf I was visiting in Ireland if the sun ever shone! He said ‘it’s only March…’.

Generally speaking, I would agree with you but I'm near Bristol and we have cloudless blue sky right now and not too cold - 10 degrees at the moment. Annoyingly I had to work this morning but I'm going out for a walk in a minute. Especially as the foreseeable forecast is for rain. Courage! Spring is coming!

South Wales here. Every time I look at the weather app it's wall to wall rain. 95% rain.

So sick of it!

South wales too. I actually like it. Getting a mix of Sun and blue sky, and grey and rain. I quite like both!

socks1107 · 04/02/2026 13:29

Yes the grey is so depressing. It’s sunny in London today so I’ve been for a lunchtime walk but it’s back to rain tomorrow

Plinketyplonks · 04/02/2026 13:30

Im on the Scottish east coast and we normally get lots of sun but haven’t seen the sun for well over a week. What I have most is the MUD! The ground is just not drying out and the school grounds (lots of grass) is a mud bath.

Pricelessadvice · 04/02/2026 13:32

I’m fed up of the grey skies and the constant rain and mud. Horses are not much fun at this time of year.

HumerousHumous · 04/02/2026 13:36

Yes I am. South west London. Currently sitting in front of my SAD lamp eating crisps to cheer me up.

I am so bored of wet dog walks. As is the dog. I look like a mad woman trying to drag a reluctant dog along the road.

This. One of our three dogs now flat out refuses to go and the others aren’t too happy either. So sick of cleaning mud off their bellies and paws and off the car and the floor. Just mud really. It can do one.

kalokagathos · 04/02/2026 14:00

No. I like all weathers and seasons

DustyMaiden · 04/02/2026 14:02

It’s lovely and sunny in Essex, I’m thinking of moving to Yorkshire because come the height of the summer it’s just too much 40 degrees. No thanks.

Disturbia81 · 04/02/2026 14:03

Saturday was so lovely in Yorkshire, the air had that lightness to it and the sun felt closer. Later on that day it went back to rain and freezing and has stayed freezing but Spring is creeping in..

PullTheBricksDown · 04/02/2026 14:03

Absolutely sick of it. I'm cold, wet, and totally lacking in energy and I blame the awful winter weather in part for that.

TheNavyReader · 04/02/2026 11:21

Absolutely joining you .Have moved fairly recently to Northumberland and if it's not raining it's misty or grey . Have barely seen any sunshine .
It's definitely affecting my mood and energy levels.
I usually like winter but this one has been just horrible

Same here, remote village and compared to last winter this is the foggiest and wet I can compare to.

Try adding a strangles outbreak into the mix for completing the gloom.

currentlybrunette · 04/02/2026 14:12

It’s absolutely gorgeous here today and has really cheered me up. I hate the grey drizzly days constantly. I need sunlight. I’m like a houseplant with more complicated emotional needs (although I dislike hot weather).

LindorDoubleChoc · 04/02/2026 14:17

This is why I love living in the South East. If there is any sun to be had, it will most likely be down here. Clear blue skies here today (sorry OP), I've been for a walk through my London neighbourhood and local park and seen daffodils, snowdrops and crocus in bloom, robins and a wren!, the sun shining on dogwood looking particularly spectacular.

RudolphTheReindeer · 04/02/2026 14:43

We've actually got some sunshine today! Feels like the first time in weeks.

caramac04 · 04/02/2026 15:01

Grey, wet, damp, miserable, wet, grey, damp ad infinitum. So depressing. Thank goodness I have a dog as I’d never go out otherwise.
However, snowdrops and crocus in flower, daffodil bulbs shooting up and today, briefly, there was sunshine and blue sky. Unfortunately not when I walked the dog and getting gloomy again now ready for when I take dog out again.
There must be hope for the end of this persistent grey.

TenuousTed · 04/02/2026 15:04

I don’t mind it too much. I detest Winter in general but I can deal with the relative lack of sunshine or just about anything that isn’t ice and snow. I really detest those two.

We had less rain than average in January so it hasn’t been too bad here lately, plus we avoided the snow which I’m very grateful for. I still can’t wait for Spring though.

TheTecknician · 04/02/2026 15:26

I wonder if a succession of low pressure systems is set in? The pressure locally has hardly exceeded 1000mb for weeks and the wind has mainly been from the eastern quadrant (brr).

It's utterly grim, isn't it? I'm fed up of mud, especially because the farm is on clay and it's just endlessly deep. My poor lad is starting with mud fever for the first time ever too!

Glitchymn1 · 04/02/2026 12:55

I don’t mind it, I’m dreading summer. I’ll see myself out. 🤣

Same here!

yorkshiretoffee · 04/02/2026 15:48

Lovely day today, preceded by a week of rain, week of rain to follow.
I am heartened by the brightness, and the upcoming spring/early summer - before the horrors of 40 degree heat and then the rain again!
