I don't like my mother but she helps with childcare

I should feel guilty for not giving my mum grandchildren. But I don't because I don't want the burden, expense or responsibility of being a mother. I'm also very selfish and love being child free.

I was bloody delighted when DD said she was never having children through choice. I feel no guilt whatsoever.

frozendaisy · 29/01/2026 19:14

For occasionally milking it saying I've had a really hard day, when in reality I have had a difficult 10 minutes and spun a wonderful story.

Making exDH still do the bins when he drops off DS midweek after scouts .

We've been divorced ten years. 😂😭

What witchcraft is this? 😱😆

Newsenmum · 29/01/2026 19:16

For not working. Im a stay at home mum and Im exhausted and it’s constant. No way am I being made to feel guilty for that. Fuck that shit.

Newsenmum · 29/01/2026 19:18

And my school aged child not doing any after school/weekend clubs. He does literally none. He’s autistic and only just managing full days at school. No way is he able to manage anything else.

Oh. And screentime. We use it. It regulates him. He doesnt play like ‘normal’ kids. Sick of feeling guilty because my kid sometimes has a screen.

DaughterOfPearl · 29/01/2026 19:27

I don't feel guilty about:
Washing clothes after one wear
Using lots of bleach in the loo
Working full time for my children's entire childhoods
Pretending I have a physical illness to take time off work when I am burnt out

changednameagainobvs · 29/01/2026 19:29

Putting my holiday in December on the credit card although it’ll take me all year to pay it off, because DP wanted to go on holiday and I couldn’t afford it outright.

TinaTwinkleToes · 29/01/2026 19:29

I don't feel guilty about not finding motherhood overly fulfilling

For those of you interested in my blow dry subscription, it's with a local independent blow dry place that is a 5-minute walk from my office. I can go as many times a week as I like, Sunday to Thursday. I pay monthly. I have only washed my own hair about three times in the last couple of years. I have no guilt at all.

this is the dream. ❤️ I detest washing my hair

GameOfJones · 29/01/2026 19:40

I work part time, have two days to myself during the week when DDs are at school and we still have a cleaner.

I don't feel any guilt at all. She does a better job than I do, she's lovely and we can afford her. I choose to see it as contributing to my local economy when she's round at our house cleaning and I'm at my yoga class 🤣.

We have one life. If you can afford to do that then go for it!!!

For winning the lottery, quite a considerable sum and not telling a soul. I have made life easier by being always the 'one that pays' with family. But doing it this way means it doesn't all just disappear

It really is. And the best bit, apart from always having lift at the roots is that I feel part of the family there because I go so much. It’s a joy in every way.

Love this thread! I work from home and have a device on my computer that keeps the green light on teams when in reality I’m having a quick hoover round, washing dishes or having a very long coffee break. I’ve done many years of working beyond my pay grade and never got any recognition, I see it as a bit of payback and have zero guilt.

Navybluecoat · 29/01/2026 20:19

I was once told on here that I should feel guilty for buying a meal deal from either tesco or Sainsbury's for lunch when im at work

I do get a free meal at work but dont like the food

I dont feel an ounce of guilt-i dont like homemade sandwiches/pack-ups,the supermarket is on my way to work and im paying with money i earn myself

Breastfeeding-I fucking hated it

I breastfed all of mine and hated it to the point I wanted to end it all

I caved in and started with bottles from about 3 months-oh the screaming from my family

Did I know I was feeding them food meant for cows not humans and that it was basically poison?

(Oddly, the men where the most vocal about this)

I refuse to feel a failure-my mental health mattered more than their opinion and I didnt see them getting their tits out at feeding time

BillieWiper · 29/01/2026 20:22

I feel guilty I've never had a proper career or education. More the former as I'm not stupid or lazy. I think it's because of my MH problems, unresolved trauma and ADHD. But those things aren't my fault. I've always done my jobs well but can't handle managing other people or teaching them the things I know. As I don't know how I learned them? Iyswim.

Coffeeishot · 29/01/2026 15:58

That is awful i know you said you don't care but why would you inflict her on the children?

If she’s anything like mine she’s probably much nicer to her grandchildren than her daughter!

TinaTwinkleToes · 29/01/2026 20:51

I never even considered breastfeeding. No way jose

Letting my bay have a weekly sleepover at his grandparents… and have done since he was six weeks old.
