What did you have for dinner tonight?

I'll go first. I'm hoping to get some nice ideas 🙂that I wouldn't think of myself as my brain is tired of working out what were all going to eat every day 🙄

Today we had (per person):

1 large protein wrap with sliced, seasoned fillet steak, cooked rare (150g), 200g sliced and fried mushrooms and 80g fried onions and 40g grated red Leicester and cheddar cheese with garlic mayo.

It was delicious and very filling 😋

Also what's the oddest thing you've made with leftovers?

Last week, to save it from going to waste, I ended up eating diced cooked carrots and boiled potatoes mixed together with some salad cream and diced, pickled gherkins. Sounds weird but tasted okay 😂

I made my own homemade beef olives yesterday, made enough for tonight's dinner too 😋. Tomorrow its bolognaise to use up the rest of the peppers and onions.

Sainsbury's Prawn, Chilli & Garlic Ravioli with a homemade tomato, garlic and olive oil sauce. It was bland, and will not buy it again.

I find the sainsbo ravioli tastes much nicer served with olive oil and pepper rather than an actual sauce

Tinkletinkletree · 26/01/2026 21:01

We had roast chicken crown with sourdough (torn into big chunks and thrown in with the chicken for the last 10 minutes until crispy on the top and soaked in juices on the bottom) with green salad and green beans.

Left over roast pork shredded in wraps with onions and peppers. It was gross to me tonight. Usually it’s delicious.

BigSkies2022 · 26/01/2026 21:11

Stir fried pork mince with miso, garlic, 5spice, ginger, spring onions. Steamed basmati rice perked up with star anise and cardamom. Romaine lettuce and avocado. DH and DS had theirs wrapped in tortillas, but I don’t like wraps so just had mine plain. Then I had blueberries with Greek yogurt and I might go and get seconds of that now, or possibly have a cup of tea and a square of dark chocolate.

TheChosenTwo · 26/01/2026 21:13

Op can I ask why you weighed out the servings per person? Only asking as I’m being nosey 😂 we just serve on to the middle of the table and everyone takes what they want, I don’t know how many grams of anything I have let alone anyone else!

We had cottage pie with leftover slow roasted lamb shoulder last night, green beans and Cavalo Nero. Ds had ice cream after.

Hedjwitch · 26/01/2026 21:15

Tagliatelle with a creamy mushroom and sun dried tomato sauce.
And then a sugar doughnut!

CoolFineDoneWicked · 26/01/2026 21:15

Split pea soup that I made a couple of weeks ago from the ham cooking broth at Christmas, topped with a few slices of sucuk sausage.

Butteredtoast55 · 26/01/2026 21:15

Tonight was a chickpea and tomato stew with rice, then some ginger and pear sponge and custard!

Makingpeace · 26/01/2026 21:17

Chicken satay and noodles

A Jamie Oliver 30-minute meal but takes me at least an hour

Odiebay · 26/01/2026 21:18

We batch cook so use them Monday - thursday. We have about 8 Meals on rotation so it's never the same thing week on week. Tonight was Spanish chicken with chorizo sausage and rice.

Dinner never takes more than 15 minutes in the week!

WonderingAndOverthinking · 26/01/2026 21:18

Need to do a food shop ASAP so used the last stuff out of the freezer. We had crispy flavoured chicken strips in mini tortilla wraps with cheese, fries, a few onion rings, corn on the cob and veggie sticks and alllllll the sauces. Followed by fruit and yogurt for the kids.

chalkiegirl · 26/01/2026 21:19

Chilli con carne, rice and salad.

Rawrrawr1 · 26/01/2026 21:22

keepingitreallyreal · 26/01/2026 21:22

Grilled sandwiches made from aged Cheddar cheese and slightly smoked ham, with dipping sauce, pickles, and coleslaw.
It was simply delicious, and very filling.

The oddest thing I ever made from leftovers was an interesting, yet not to be repeated casseroles that was suggested by Google for using up the exact leftovers I had in the fridge.

Simplestars · 26/01/2026 21:28

Homemade fish cakes (bbc luxury fishcake recipe) with mixed veg.
