I'll go first. I'm hoping to get some nice ideas 🙂that I wouldn't think of myself as my brain is tired of working out what were all going to eat every day 🙄

Today we had (per person):

1 large protein wrap with sliced, seasoned fillet steak, cooked rare (150g), 200g sliced and fried mushrooms and 80g fried onions and 40g grated red Leicester and cheddar cheese with garlic mayo.

It was delicious and very filling 😋

Also what's the oddest thing you've made with leftovers?

Last week, to save it from going to waste, I ended up eating diced cooked carrots and boiled potatoes mixed together with some salad cream and diced, pickled gherkins. Sounds weird but tasted okay 😂

Some time back I saw this Ocado recipe for Rumbledethumps made with celeriac & swede - intrigued by the name I gave it a go and it was delicious!

I've made it a few times since - think I'll have it this weekend. Mine was more buttery and cheesy than the photo😊

Thank you. I love Celeriac, so I’ll try that next time.

Will be salmon tonight, roasted in the oven, so the skin and top go crispy.

Probably have it on top of some pasta and green beans in a light tomato and basil sauce. (Cherry tomatoes, olive oil, roast at same time as salmon, tear and add basil, salt, black pepper... stir into pasta.)

Oh yes freezer organisation ! That’s my next task. I used to be reasonably organised with a list, a list on my phone no less, of contents, dates shelf etc. then I took The List to the supermarket. And managed to delete the whole thing😱😱😱😱😱😱.

I still haven’t quite recovered but need to re instate it . Am currently running the freezer down prior to a defrost. The aforementioned liver was dug out of an ice mound at the back. Probably had something to do with the less than stellar results…

salmon in broth again here, with spinach. And divine rice for pudding.

Quick and easy for me and DH tonight, pork and chorizo sausages, flat, coated potato slices, with (leftover) roasted tomatoes and cauliflower cheese. Really nice. All courtesy of Waitrose. Had some vouchers to use, so this week will be biased towards Waitrose.

Valentine's dinner was lamb leg steak served on a bed of crushed minted peas, feta, chopped nuts and chilli flakes all mixed together.

Very tasty. It's actually a Fast 800 recipe from Dr. Moseley. Recipe here....

We've had a mixed bag of things lately.

Sunday was a couple of small mushroom arancini balls each followed by wagyu beef burgers with red Leicester cheese melt, onions, rocket, and peppers in a brioche bun. This was from Aldi as a dine in. Again really tasty.

Monday was pan fried sea bass fillet with aubergine and smoked garlic orzo in a creamy sauce

Tuesday was prawn and scallop gratin with roasted red pepper rolls and baked Camembert.

Yesterday was Vietnamese Pho with king prawns, pak choi, mushrooms, and onions.

Tonight will be potato and spinach curry, possibly served with a paratha as well.

Tonight we are having crispy tofu, noodles and vegetables and vegetarian spring rolls.

DS1 has been agitating for crispy tofu for a couple of days. It's just firm tofu cut into chunks then battered in the usual way with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and deep fried. I've only made it once before. I more often make breaded tofu schnitzels.

Sminty2 · 19/02/2026 19:57

I have a mushroom stroganoff, it smells amazing. Was supposed to be beef but forgot to defrost the meat.

CollieModdle · 19/02/2026 20:51

Sausages and fried egg with a Staffordshire Oat Cake and some savoy cabbage in the side.
Then cherries and Greek Yog

And a vodka and tonic. Polish Bisongrass vodka.

Because I thought it was Friday

EconomyClassRockstar · 19/02/2026 21:47

We're having teriyaki chicken meatballs with sides copied from Din Tai Fung, garlic broccoli and a cucumber salad. And a large Sauv Blanc just because it is Thursday!

ProfessorLeveretGrey · 20/02/2026 15:39

Today will be chicken marinated in garlic, lemon and herbs. Peppers stuffed with rice and feta and a cucumber salad. I'm pretending it's summer.

Sminty2 · 20/02/2026 18:12

I’m going traditional and having Tempura Haddock, fat chips and peas.

patooties · 20/02/2026 18:51

Pork steak, jacket, salad, slaw.

CinnamonSweet73 · 20/02/2026 19:14

Tagliatelle with meatballs in tomato sauce, delicious!

EdwinStarrTheBackStreetsNSoul · 20/02/2026 19:30

Black pudding sandwich.😋

MiddleAgedDread · 20/02/2026 19:37

Veggie sausages, jacket potato, cauliflower cheese and peas (with a splash of chicken bisto)

Mumwithbaggage · 20/02/2026 19:43

Haven't eaten yet but made a beef stew because the weather is utterly vile and I had lots of root veg to use up. With root veg mash. Magically, all my veg are now used up!!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/02/2026 19:57

A very substantial minestrone, with garlic, onion, carrot, celery, pasta, tinned toms, tom purée, a tin of butter beans and one chopped up leek.
With garlic bread, and some grated mozzarella on top, since I had some that needed using up.

mamaduckbone · 20/02/2026 21:56

We had Thai red chicken curry and jasmine rice. It’s a dead easy Jamie Oliver recipe but delicious - firm fave in the duckbone house.

ChubbyPuffling · 21/02/2026 18:53

Was a chippy tea tonight, cod, chips and curry sauce.
Deeeeeeeelish!

18 quid for 2 though...

Sminty2 · 21/02/2026 18:56

I caved into total idleness and ordered some Mixed meat fried rice and Monks vegetables. Yum.

cherrymauve · 21/02/2026 20:29

Tonight I made the black bean dish that someone on here recommended. Thank you, it was delicious and will be a repeat. Highly recommend.

ProfessorLeveretGrey · 22/02/2026 11:21

I had to go to the laundrette today as our various machines are not working. As I waited I was reading a book about french food, french eating habits etc. I am afraid to say it inspired me so today we are having;

Starter- duck and orange pate with lettuce and baguette
Main- Cod dusted with flour and paprika and pan fried in butter with broccoli and honey glazed carrots
Pudding- camembert, strawberries and grapes..

DS1 has sensory issues around food and probably won't eat alot of that (it will be my first time trying him on pate) so his carrots will be grated and raw (the only way he eats them) and he will also have a cucumber salad he loves which is peeled, very thinly sliced cucumber, a sprinkle of white wine vinegar, sugar and salt and left to marinate. I think he''ll eat the fish, broccoli. baguette, cheese and fruit, so finger crossed!

(Sorry0 there was alot of extra info in that post!) Grin
