Thanks for the new thread. x

Kitterkitkat · 15/01/2026 08:26

I didn't realise the last one was so full!

I had to change an appointment for today as travel time is 1.5 hours, that would be too much as I'm under the weather this week. I can do my local appointments as they don't take long to get to.

Still raining here ๐Ÿ™

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2026 08:57

Hello all, and thank you @MewithME for the new thread.
I'm a bit quiet at the mo, as social media is a bit draining, but I'm reading you all.

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/01/2026 09:34

Thanks for the new thread!

Looks like MIL probably does have cancer, a bad one. Sheโ€™s having a stent, drain and hopefully biopsy today. Iโ€™ve tried to be quite positive about it, but itโ€™s going to be a bloody rough year.

That is really shocking news. I hope you and your family are OK. It is a lot to deal with. Xx

FurForksSake · 15/01/2026 11:45

@TeaAndStrumpets right now itโ€™s all waiting for news. Sheโ€™s now let slip that the tumour is wrapped around and theyโ€™ve basically told her itโ€™s inoperable. I am very much hoping theyโ€™ll offer her chemo and we can hold on to her for as long as possible.

DH and I are talking about how we make memories and do whatever we can to make things ok.

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/01/2026 11:57

Thanks for closing the last thread! We are all neat and tidy now.

It's quite bizarre an advert popped up next to the thread and I barely glanced at it but thought it was a man cuddling a baby. A second look and obviously it is a boxer with his gloves up! I would make terrible eyewitness!

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/01/2026 12:15

I once saw a beige tube of lip gloss advertised on here which looked like a severed finger so it could go either way I suppose.

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/01/2026 12:18

So far I have managed my new policy of 'staying calm' all morning but I can feel the stress bubbling up. My stomach is in knots so I think I've just repressed it!

Swanhilde · 15/01/2026 12:29

Hello everyone - can't believe we filled the last thread so quickly!

So this morning I have been for my massage, followed by a nap as I am shattered.

This afternoon I'm starting a new ceramics class that I'm very much looking forward to. Work offered us some free courses at the local college and I'd never pass up a freebie! I did some classes years ago when the kids were tiny so let's see what I can remember ๐Ÿ˜†

Tipping with rain here, not a nice day ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

FurForksSake · 15/01/2026 12:34

@Swanhilde ceramics is amazing! Iโ€™m waiting for my kiln to arrive so I can make at home. Itโ€™s coming from abroad so it takes time.

Hope you really enjoy it! Feedback how it went.

Swanhilde · 15/01/2026 12:37

OMG @FurForksSake having a home kiln would be my ultimate dream! Not sure DH is prepared to clear our the garage ๐Ÿคฃ

Oh gosh Iโ€™m so so sorry itโ€™s not better news. How utterly awful for you all.

TodayIsatrickyone · 15/01/2026 12:46

That sounds fabulous @Swanhilde enjoy the class

Hi @FuzzyPuffling I hear you re social media Good to have a bit of time out sometimes but hope youโ€™re okay.

@TeaAndStrumpets its a hard balance re stress isnโ€™t it. I do like your idea of not worrying as it doesnโ€™t affect the outcome though and been trying to adopt that approach. Problem is in our situation we need so much rest/ quiet time and I find my brain wanders.

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/01/2026 13:17

@TodayIsatrickyone yes my mind wanders so much, and not always in good directions!

Laundry, physio appointment, now sitting!

Just thrown out dozens of coat hangers! Every so often I have a purge but it just encourages the pesky things!

That is the correct order! And hopefully a cuppa.

This is the kind of dull detail I enjoy ๐Ÿ˜Š

For my part, I slept quite well for me..woke at 4am but only briefly. Had weird dreams but annoyingly my alarm woke me before I was finished whatever I was doing in my dream and it's left me with a slightly irritated feeling this morning!

Work was stressful this morning. Someone I work closely with isn't doing things until I check and hassle them and it's putting me under severe pressure. Things are very messy. Unfortunately her line manager doesn't help so I don't know the answer.

I'm just having a sit in bed with my heatpad and a cup of pukka tea.

I used my nurosym gadget last night. I need to get into better routines and habits with it to see if it helps. I'm going to have a stint now i think. See if it helps me stay calm this afternoon!

@Swanhilde wish I could run away with you to your ceramics class! Sounds much more fun than my afternoon. I dream of bed and telly later.

Until then folks ๐Ÿซก
