I had a major triumph today. One of my medications has been out of stock in all the local pharmacies since before Christmas, none back in production until March. The NHS has put out alerts and suggested alternatives. I got a paper prescription and rang every pharmacy locally in November, and got one dusty pack (expired!) at Tesco which I was grateful for. So my prescription date has rolled around again, I am late for this month's dose, pharmacist says no, nothing till March. I thought OK best ask for an alternative (although the alternatives give me stomach problems)

I emailed the surgery and bless them they rang the manufacturer and found out there is a branded version available, and have issued a prescription. I have been on the generic one for years, which is much cheaper, and will doubtless be changed in two months.

So basically, if the NHS alert had mentioned there was a branded version available, instead of suggesting different medications or a drugs holiday, I suppose it would be too expensive to implement. I am grateful to the GP surgery for saving me a lot of anxiety.

Thanks @MewithME for the new thread and indeed for all of the threads. Sorry I haven't been around much recently, everything is exhausting and I am not doing brilliantly.

@FurForksSake so sorry to hear your bad news about MIL. Thinking of you and all of your family.

@TeaAndStrumpets what a great win. And hats off to your GPs for being helpful too.

Not much to report here. Went for a swim. Took in the Tesco delivery. Did a bit of laundry. Apologised to DH as I have been difficult to live with these last few weeks. Onwards and upwards, hey.....

MewithME · 15/01/2026 18:05

Hey @VikingNorthUtsire tell us what's going on when you have the energy. Here for you. Flowers

@VikingNorthUtsire sorry you are feeling down. It is so grey and gloomy at the moment, which really doesn't help. Hope you feel a bit lighter soon. Xx

MewithME · 15/01/2026 18:09

Just all a bit much I guess?

I'm feeling weepy tonight. I think work stress has kicked in, it's kicked off some PEM after being in work last two days on site, and today I keep thinking about my Dad and how much I miss him for some reason and all the other losses that have happened in recent years.

Grief just jumps out sometimes and all of it gets mushed up.

I'm struggling a bit and it's weird.

I'm very tired and have felt the need for afternoon naps this week. But when I'm dropping off to sleep I have the strangest feeling of doom, as though I won't wake up again. Clearly I do but the "I'm dying" feeling is horrible.

MewithME · 15/01/2026 18:26

Have you checked your BP @FuzzyPuffling ? Low BP can give that feeling. Never ignore the doom feeling. Can be a serious thing. I know from anaphylaxis. That's one of the symptoms. Impending sense of doom. It's a sudden drop in BP.

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2026 18:28

I'm on treatment for high BP ( and Reynauds) and its been stable for a long-time, but that's very interesting, @MewithME . Thank you for not thinking I'm a total bozo.

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/01/2026 18:57

Sorry @FuzzyPuffling that sounds miserable, not a nice way to enjoy a nap. Good idea to have a health check.

I think things can get a bit flat after Christmas. Lots of little tasks that can be ticked off, seeing more people than usual, there is bit of a buzz to it. Mid-January, there is no buzz. Just how I feel, anyway. I hope you feel a bit better soon.

FurForksSake · 15/01/2026 12:34

@Swanhilde ceramics is amazing! Iโ€™m waiting for my kiln to arrive so I can make at home. Itโ€™s coming from abroad so it takes time.

Hope you really enjoy it! Feedback how it went.

Session was good - the usual health and safety agreement and tour of where everything is. Then we made pinch pots โ˜บ๏ธ

I think next week I'll take along a few of my own ideas as DH won't allow another pinch pot into the house ๐Ÿคฃ

Just had cheese and biscuits for tea and am now getting on with my knitting before Traitors ๐Ÿงถ

@MewithME I think we should get @FurForksSake to run a ceramics class for us all โšฑ๏ธโšฑ๏ธโšฑ๏ธ

FuzzyPuffling · 15/01/2026 19:27

I love a bit of ceramics.

I quite like January (its November that depresses me). DGD1 and I share a January birthday, the days are getting longer and things are happening in the garden.

Kitterkitkat · 15/01/2026 19:41

@MewithME aw, things can be overwhelming at times. Best to snuggle up with a hot drink and watch something/talk to people or whatever suits you.

Kitterkitkat · 15/01/2026 19:49

@TeaAndStrumpets you're on a roll today ๐Ÿ˜†

I had a text from pharmacy about picking up some meds but not sure what, I think I have everything I need in.

Might be worth doing a few readings morning and evening in case it has dropped a bit low. Mine did this on bp meds - it was around 90/68 something like that and I felt a bit dizzy at times. I've stoped taking them now.

Orangesandlemons77 · 15/01/2026 21:19

I think it might feel a bit more positive when the first signs of spring come along like the crocuses and snowdrops, and the weather improves a bit. Hopefully

I have snowdrops, hellebores and an early camellia out in my tiny garden. It's very cheering.

That's amazing; I'm fairly central but there's a local park 5 minutes away so I'll have a wander down to look. Snowdrops and bluebells are so beautiful.

FurForksSake · 15/01/2026 21:40

Iโ€™ve got bulbs coming up in my garden, very exciting. And my dog wood or something is flowering and my rock rose and my violas / pansies are still going strong. Love my garden.

Morning all!

Slept quite well. My only nightmare was that someone came to view the house and I noticed the grass was waist height. But I was fully clothed!
