@TeaAndStrumpets thanks, we still have 3 months on the fixed term but could probably jump ship if we find the right place. Landlord isn't in a good position at all legally plus threatening behaviour and knowing we are being filmed, watched etc.
Practically we are better hanging in for the 3 months or until court. Would give us time to sort and pack and see how MIL is plus better weather etc.
I'm nervous he's going to turn up but really he should back down at some point once he realises he's royally messed up.

He's obviously not thought things through! I guess by the time you find somewhere else and gone through the usual paperwork it could well be three months. As you say, Spring too! A very hopeful time of year.

Stressybetty · 17/01/2026 20:23

@TeaAndStrumpets, yes, I'd leave tomorrow if we could! Hate being here now and the anxiety. But we could end up in a worse house with a worse landlord and probably better to wait for the new rental rules also.
The thought of packing and moving again is exhausting too!

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/01/2026 09:13

Morning all!

Hope you are having a peaceful Sunday. It is so miserable here, and quite a groundmist last night which always reminds me of horror films!

We didn't get round to watching any soothing TV last night. Watched the Australian 'The Office' which was really terrible so that's crossed off my list. I would really like to see the film something island made by the chap from Plebs and Mandy but it's nearly a tenner to rent so will wait!

Those are my boring thoughts for today. I know @MewithME enjoys domestic trivia so just for her I can reveal that DD1 is testing a Bosch handheld scrubber this week. I am eagerly awaiting her report to see if I should get one too. That's it.

Oioiqueen · 18/01/2026 09:25

Morning all. A bit damp outside here, it's meant to be heavy rain this afternoon. We were due to meet one of my parents for a country park walk this afternoon but will likely now have to change plans. Looking forward to getting out and about, I feel a little cooped up inside nowadays.

Kitterkitkat · 18/01/2026 09:25

@TeaAndStrumpets it's magical to look at - out of a window. Walked to Tesco 8am for biscuits. I get a bit unhappy when I have none in. Healthy breakfast of porridge and berries and ground nuts to make up for the bourbon cream decadence.

Think rain has stopped temporarily, by some miracle. GP getting stressed out as we keep missing each other, basically, so I'll have to call in this week she has a 2 hour time slot for drop in. I need to ring the bell for a friend I think after 10am is fine on a Sunday isn't it?

Slept a bit better last night, only about 4 hours but I can notice the difference. It's like being in a perpetual fog when you're up all night.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/01/2026 09:31

@Kitterkitkat yes it is, the sort of day when the spider webs are glistening!

You are lucky to have a drop in surgery- hope you get sorted out.

@Oioiqueen sounds like a wellies-on sort of day, but it shouldn't be too chilly!

It's always nice to get back indoors for a cup of tea afterwards.

VikingNorthUtsire · 18/01/2026 09:32

@Stressybetty I hope you can get your housing situation sorted. The uncertainty sounds very stressful โ˜น๏ธ

And @Orangesandlemons77 I am mad on your behalf at your MIL's lack of respect for your illness and your boundaries! Sounds like you handled it perfectly and hopefully she will get the message that she can't manipulate you into a sudden miraculous recovery.

Yesterday I was excited to go to our little town, I had some library books to collect and decided I would have a little mooch in the charity shops. Well, I got the books, got into the first shop (literally 2 minutes' walk up the road) and felt a desperate urge to sit down. Managed to get back to the library - what a lovely welcome haven with seats and no-one minding how long you sit for. They even had jigsaws out for people to pass the time.

So shopping trip sadly binned. After a rest I did manage to make tea for everyone but only with regular rest breaks. I don't know how I've managed to knacker myself this week as I think I've been taking it easy!

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/01/2026 09:39

@VikingNorthUtsire my good days are often like that. I sense a bit more energy than usual and get excited! Then I realise I don't have as much energy as I thought I had! Great idea to sit in the library, and lucky it was handy. Years ago I used to drive a friend to our nearest large city to look round the big shops. She would insist on having coffee and a sit down every two hours, whereas I was eager to carry on shopping and not waste time...oh to be young again!

Kitterkitkat · 18/01/2026 09:41

@VikingNorthUtsire it's sensible to pace yourself if you're struggling, and find a safe haven. Shopping/browsing can wait until another day :)

Kitterkitkat · 18/01/2026 09:44

@BeefAndHorseradishSandwich I always get a craving for beef (quorn) and horseradish sandwich when I see your name ๐Ÿ˜†

I think shopping/browsing does give the illusion of being part of the human race and I really miss it! I do so much online now, it's just not fun.

MewithME · 18/01/2026 10:09

I bluddy love you @TeaAndStrumpets . Your trivia made me giggle ๐Ÿคญ Scrubbers makes me think of withnail and I ๐Ÿ˜

@Kitterkitkat I used to love hot ribena or vinmto with a bourbon dunked in. They ruined both with artificial sweetener. 8am Sunday biscuit run is committed!

I'm still not right. Maybe it's a bad dose of PEM/crash or maybe it's menopause stuff. Woke feeling super heavy. Joints ache badly. I have slight raised glands in my neck and the other usual things going on.

I think the heavy mist has made the sounds carry different because the motor x track two miles away is so incredibly loud this morning. It's like someone trapped angry wasps in my garden. Why are boy's/men's hobbies so bloody loud and imposing?

Kitterkitkat · 18/01/2026 10:41

@MewithME aw, give it time. I don't know if things like a bath or gentle stretching would help. Sorry I did say upthread I can sometimes volunteer 'advice' which may not help, but feel free to reprimand or ignore me if I do.

Have you got any noise cancelling headphones for boyz and their toys?

FurForksSake · 18/01/2026 10:46

Morning! I am really struggling with a total lack of energy and aching all over. Iโ€™m literally dreading the days I have to leave the house. Iโ€™m so glad Iโ€™ve got another month off sick. Iโ€™m so tired.

Sorry we all seem to be having some wobbles!

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/01/2026 10:54

I do wonder if it's the weather @FurForksSake all my joints hurt especially fingers and wrists. And my jaw! It really hurt chewing my food last night but I think it's tension in my jaw related to my stiff neck. I always panic about my gums or teeth but the pain is random not one spot.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/01/2026 10:57

I lay down with my eye mask and drifted off without noticing it had unplugged itself so never got hot. Will have a go later. I get those annoying blocked ducts in my eyelids which feel really scratchy when they come up.

MewithME · 18/01/2026 10:58

@Kitterkitkat haha you're all good. I LIVE in noise cancelling headphones..well earbuds....and I've had itchy ears from menopause crap lately. It'll be fine if I shut the window. I'm a fresh air freak is all. What a moaning Minnie I am !

Epsom salt bath helps. Just deciding whether to have one now or tonight.

I'm in work tomorrow which will be difficult but rest of week I can WFH.

I think my weekend's wallowing and binge watching has helped a bit. Idris was not disappointing but only one episode so far!

OMG I didnโ€™t know there was a chronic illness thread like this!! Hellooo, Iโ€™m going to catch up on all the previous before I write anything else, but just want to say I too spend my life with noise cancelling headphones ๐ŸŽง!

FurForksSake · 18/01/2026 11:01

In exciting news Iโ€™ve been told I only need to be in the office two days a week and can offer online appointments and work virtually the rest of the time. Which will make life a bit easier.

Glad Idris is helping! I see he has been knighted for services to womankind, so a more worthy recipient than many!
