Morning. Not raining for a change...

I didn't sleep well at all but have to be back in the afternoon for engineers, they won't mind at all if I go for a catnap. They're a friendly lot.

Realisation14 · 16/01/2026 08:28

Thank you for the new thread. @FurForksSake I am so sorry Bout your MIL, it must be such a shock.

@MewithME my IBS is definitely tied in with my fibromyalgia! Bloody bowels, been awful for the last 3 years.

I have a tough day ahead but thankfully zero plans tomorrow.

Kitterkitkat · 16/01/2026 08:29

Oh, it's raining again ๐Ÿ™

FuzzyPuffling · 16/01/2026 08:35

My good news is that the bomb a couple of miles from my house has been removed.

Same here. So gloomy. Wish we had a bit of snow! It's not felt like a proper winter yet.

Well that is exciting!

My good news is that the bomb a couple of miles from my house has been removed.

My dad once told me there was a ww2 bomb underneath the toilet in his work building. I always got a bit nervous going to the loo after that.

FuzzyPuffling · 16/01/2026 10:48

They must be all over here, so many were dropped in WW2.
Although a bomb in the loo ( or even the thought of it) would help if you were a bit bunged up.

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/01/2026 10:49

Was up in the night and now slept in and just woke up. Thinking of going outside but it looks a bit cold. Might do some cleaning of the bathroom and the washing needs hung up.

Exciting stuff! Interesting about the bomb.

MewithME · 16/01/2026 12:18

Hello all. I'm taking an early lunch break. I'm not sure what's up with me this morning. I am wondering if menopause is kicking me. I feel massively jittery and anxious. I was really happy and chilled earlier in the week and now I feel totally overwhelmed and doubting my ability to be able to do my work.

I'm eating chocolate and fighting back tears in bed. At least I'm WFH today.

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/01/2026 12:51

@MewithME maybe a PEM symptom? I get tearful with it and menopause is long past!

Had DD1 and DGS2 here to help DH move some furniture. DGS is tall and strong. He was able to put my iPhone screen back to normal for me, after it went transparent.

Our new house is next to DD1 and not fully closed in yet. She tells me during the recent snow and ice some Little Owls moved in for shelter!

I just did this lovely yoga Nidra meditation recommended by Bristol ME group, I will add a link in case anyone wants to try it. It is on YouTube.

I'm also menopausal MEwithME and getting lots of mood swings and tearfulness. HRT doesn't seem to be helping. I'm just kind of sitting with it for now, but hoping it might pass soon.

Swanhilde · 16/01/2026 13:44

Thought (knew) I was heading into PEM last night, banging headache and blocked sinuses. Took some paracetamol and thankfully had a good night's sleep. Feeling better this morning, headache still there but paracetamol controlling it. I know I'm doing too much ...

Anyway I still went to the allotment and I'm so glad I did. The sun was trying to come out and all the birds were in full song. I'm experimenting weaving with the large amount of brambles we have and have been soaking some whips in the water butt to soften them. Didn't exactly go to plan but as an art installation I think it works. I was quite pleased with it โ˜บ๏ธ

What are you up to today if you have a chronic illness? Thread 5
TeaAndStrumpets · 16/01/2026 13:56

It's a beautiful day for it @Swanhilde ! I've never heard of weaving brambles before but it's a great idea. Do you do garden ornaments like people do with willow? They always look great.

MewithME · 16/01/2026 13:57

...and to add to my woes bloody food shop online order delivery was just cancelled because a driver phoned in sick. Gutted. I can't manage to go shopping today.... I will just have to see how I go this weekend. Maybe I can do a click and collect. So annoying. Energy wasted doing the online order.

OP posts:
FuzzyPuffling · 16/01/2026 13:58

Oh that's really annoying and unfair @MewithME . Grrr....

Megsdaughter · 16/01/2026 14:01

Beautiful and sunny here and woke up after sleeping from 1am till 6am whuch is really good for me.

DH is the gardener here and has our 30 metre garden looking beautiful. The snowdrops are coming through lovely.

Been out at my knit and natter club this morning. It got very political. We have a couple of men come, just to natter not knit and they can be very vocal. Still they will listen to others point of view and we are slowly wearing down some of the sexist attitudes they come out with.

Ive been thinking of what to wear to nieces wedding next December, yes i know its a year away, but its on Scotland and likely to be snowy and icy and we live in the balmy south of England. ๐Ÿ˜. Also i have been on weightloss jabs since May last year and lost 5 stone and gone from a size 24 to an 18, so god knows what size I will be by then! I use a wheelchair when walking any distance and DH has said if its icy he wants me to use it. So do i buy a posh long coat? Would it get all creased up being sat on it? Would it be worth it? Would I wear it enough after? All these decisions!

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/01/2026 14:02

On the bright side @MewithME nobody will come to the door coughing over you or similar! I think you can get short notice Morrison's groceries via Amazon but I don't know if they have a good selection. How annoying, though!

MewithME · 16/01/2026 14:16

Thanks @TeaAndStrumpets . I had treated myself to nice bits from Waitrose as DS is with his Dad this weekend so I can wait until tomorrow and do click and collect but I hate that because ours is really grotty. Huge puddle you have to wade through, rat traps everywhere and rubbish and it's more tiring loading it up and having to move the crates.

Moan grumble moan. Sorry.

I mean I'm first world problems I guess... just feels hard when I'm exhausted. Sometimes it all feels really hard alone. Wish I had someone to make me a cuppa and share the load a bit.

@Swanhilde I am baffled. Doesn't it hurt doing that with brambles! Good work though.

OP posts:
TeaAndStrumpets · 16/01/2026 14:24

@Megsdaughter i think winter weddings can be tricky but it depends if the ceremony and reception are under one roof or not. If a church then you will freeze! It's a good excuse for a new coat, either way. Congratulations on the weight loss! What about a wool/cashmere blend wrapover style, shouldn't crease too badly. It would be a smoother line if you are in a wheelchair, and wrapover to be snug over your knees. As long as the shoulders/sleeves are a nice fit the rest is adaptable. I got a nice Viyella petite one for a winter wedding, so the sleeves and length were the right proportion for me at 5'2".

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/01/2026 14:25

@MewithME rat traps urgh!

Kitterkitkat · 16/01/2026 14:27

@MewithME I actually really like waitrose (although you have to be careful what you buy!), I was so embarrassed last night as I accidentally walked out with something I hadn't paid for and had to go back to pay for it, knees knocking.

Kept missing surgery today, think I was stressing GP out. Got some numbers for legal aid for a tricky unpleasant situation so at least something was done. Pharmacist later.

FuzzyPuffling · 16/01/2026 14:30

My DD is getting married at the beginning of March. It's a low key do, and I have several suitable dresses in my wardrobe ( no hat required). But actually I have no idea what to wear. It's not winter, its not spring...it might be knee deep in snow. And I'm a bit crap with clothes.

MewithME · 16/01/2026 14:35

Waitrose is the best and the drivers are super good. Sadly ours isn't near so my click and collect is with Sainsbury's. They are reliable but the click and collect is gross.

Morrisons are not great and would never online order with them again after a v bad experience.

Anyway enough of my grumbles. I shall retreat and see where tomorrow takes me. Maybe this is just PEM. I don't feel myself at all.
