@MewithME my tinnitus is set off by the kitchen extractor fan, noisy tv etc. As I only get it on one side I got referred for a head MRI and all was well. I had a hearing test and was prescribed hearing aids. The first time I tried them the tinnitus got worse so I never wear them! I have had dire warnings from audiologists that I must wear them all the time but I hate the tinnitus so much I don't.

Hedjwitch · 13/02/2026 09:20

Never had our outside bins washed and they seem ok to me.
Update on the CD Gmmies...early days and only my personal experience but sleeping better, feeling better and pain reduced. I'll take that, whatever is doing it!

Stressybetty · 13/02/2026 10:34

Morning everyone, we're on a yellow warning of snow and ice but nothing. I'll take the clean cold dry air outside over rain anyday though. Feel out of breath today.
@MewithME I used to get tinnitus a lot when I worked in a call centre, like a low grade white noise. Am back office now but can't tolerate loud noise or the wrong frequency etc. Think that's another CFS symptoms noise intolerance?
@Hedjwitch gmmies sound good, anything that helps sleep etc must be ok.
@TeaAndStrumpets hope you're ok and can get some good rest today.
At least it's Friday.
Ventured out to Lidl last night, my night vision is getting worse and worse even with yellow glasses. Probably need to stop driving in the dark.

Oh that's interesting. The snow warnings are not just hype then!

I am feeling out of breath too but my oxygen is 100%. I todded up all the extra 'spoons' I've used this week and realise although each didn't seem a lot on the day they have all added up to too much. It is so so easy to push through. I've had some good sleeps this week and felt more in control of house stuff. Did loads more than usual!

DD2 sent me a photo of little granddaughter doing baby yoga at her nursery, she was sitting with a carer doing some arm and leg positions, concentrating so hard on what was going on! She is very cute. It is a fabulous nursery, they are very highly rated so it was a good choice for DD who is happy to be back at work.

Trying to have a quiet day today

Orangesandlemons77 · 13/02/2026 15:29

Hi all, raining here again! It is meant to be cold this evening and tomorrow though, but then back to rain Sunday.

Been doing a job I dislike, and mentioned on here I see- washing out the recycling boxes - DH says dogs wee on them (I doubt it) so they get a bath here, in soapy water!

Anyway that is done and the bathroom has a bit of a clean as DS's girlfriend is here this weekend apparently. DS has taken all the stuff out of his room into the hall and playing all this music, clearing up apparently. Hmm.

I have decided to ask them to cancel this ASD assessment, I feel bad that it is a lot of money which could be spent on a child who is struggling in school for example, and also don't think I have the headspace or energy for the assessment and forms etc.

It has been enough with the course and forms for the ME / CFS clinic. Also I don't want to confuse things there as think that is what I am mainly having problems with, possibly with the menopause thrown in!

Hope you all have a peaceful weekend. I am wondering if MIL will turn up tomorrow what with the ice warning in place, Probably won't put her off. Maybe DS and the GF can chat to her.

It is half term next week so other DS will be home. He popped in earlier with a friend, very polite friend who called 'thank you' on the way out.

We missed his dentists appt yesterday, my memory (although to be fair I did mention it to him and DH as well) really annoyed with myself. They are free the checkups under 18 as well but have booked another and feel guilty like should pay for one. It is a waste of their time.

And breathe, anyway it is not the end of the world. I am getting an expensive filling with them in a week or two I suppose!

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/02/2026 15:47

@Orangesandlemons77 we have wheely bins nearly as high as me here! Years ago we did have recycling boxes I think. All change later this year when they are starting to collect food waste. We will get a 5litre caddy for indoors plus a bigger lockable bin to put out with the bins. I wonder how that will work.

I wouldn't worry about the dental appointment. Our dentist is always running late so a brief gap in their list might give them a welcome chance to catch up!

FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2026 15:52

It's been a beautiful sunny day here today.
And DH is still in remission, the consultant is very pleased with him. So relieved.

TodayIsatrickyone · 13/02/2026 16:14

Thatโ€™s such good news @FuzzyPuffling

Hi all, just caught up on posts but havent much energy to reply so waving a general hello in everyoneโ€™s direction and sorry to those having crappy days.

Still rubbish here and utterly fed up with it now. Itโ€™s likely PEM now from my night in A & E which I was expecting but I do wish things would settle.

DH is away til Sunday evening. I wanted him to be able to still go but did feel a bit wobbly when I heard the door close which is silly as nothing he can do to make me feel better even if heโ€™s here!

DD is home today and has taken over the cooking and already made me several cups of tea without being asked so sheโ€™s being a star.

The dog on the other hand is being a pain tbough! She wonโ€™t go out for a walk with DD because Iโ€™m not there and just pulls to come home but then is full of energy and mischief! Weโ€™re giving her lots of time in the garden instead and that will have to do. She did get into my neighbours garden earlier and wouldnt come back as was having too much fun being naughty so sheโ€™s in DDs bad books too now!

FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2026 16:34

Thank you all x

Thanks for the klaxon @MewithME !

Stressybetty · 13/02/2026 19:41

@FuzzyPuffling congratulations to your family!
@TodayIsatrickyone hope you manage to have a good weekend
@TeaAndStrumpets we're due for food waste containers too. However as we have the dogs the only food waste we ever actually generate are tea bags, egg shells and banana skins. Take a while to fill our caddy.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2026 19:54

We're the same with expecting food caddies soon. But we don't eat meat, have a compost heap for all veg waste, eggshells etc and won't use it at all.

Suggestions please for alternative uses for both the big and small caddies!

This made me smile! DH's friend growing up had a Jack Russell Terrier who was fed on scraps. The friend's parents were VERY frugal. Every day they saved up bacon rinds, potato peelings, egg shells, leftover offal and even tea leaves, then boiled it up to feed the dog! He would wolf it all down very happily. He lived to a ripe old age!

I can't see that you need one at all! Ours will be handy for fruit/veg and tea leaves, they tend to get smelly in the big bin.

Swanhilde · 13/02/2026 20:15

Checking in for today. Decided to get away while I'm off work so we've been travelling all day.

Sitting in a car all day is as tiring as being at work, so no plans for tomorrow other than a trip to the supermarket for some treats ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿง€๐Ÿฅ–๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿท

Have a restful evening all ๐Ÿ’•

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/02/2026 20:29

Sounds lovely @Swanhilde hope you don't meet any snow. Yes the driving is a pain. One reason I overdid things this week was driving over to visit DD1 - 40 minutes each way with lots of chatting while we were . I do love it though.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/02/2026 20:31

The large one might be handy in the car boot for boots or wetsuits or wet towels.
