A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I have never thought much of Jenrick and it has been clear for some time he has been willing to stab Kemi in the back as soon as the opportunity arises.

Bloody good on her! Now Kemi, let me give you a list of the yellow Tories who need the boot 😄

(I’m sure she has her own list and the tightening up of policies around recruitment of prospective councillors and MPs is already flushing a few out).

redange · 15/01/2026 11:27

The statement does not say who he was defecting to!

I guess he must have been eyeing up the SNP then !

Sorry Great Replacement. It is evident since 2020 and Covid that the Great Reset has been going 'Gangbusters'.

No, I am not the "Labour fan girl" you are talking about. I know the person you mean. I think they were banned. But do report me to MNHQ if you have doubts.

The Great Replacement Theory is racist and anti-Semitic as per the link I posted. But if you support that or any other conspiracy theory, there is not much point in me trying to dissuade you.

redange · 15/01/2026 11:31

I did not say I support the Great Replacement theory or not, I said theories are open for debate and questioning.

"in a way designed to be as damaging as possible"

This makes me think he was going to cross the floor during PMQs!

I had a boring question about the renters reform bill, but I'll park that for now!!!

I came on this thread to let people know more about Eva Vlaardingerbroek as you and others didn't know anything about her. Nothing to do with Labour.

Anyway, off to read about Jenrick. Smart move by Kemi.

Agreed. News reporters are saying he's headed for Reform, but at this point it's all conjecture and supposition.

Either way, Starmer and his team of writers will be licking their lips at this latest development and sharpening their knives for next week's PMQs.

I’m fine, I don’t need it. I was fine without those posts below.

I’m kind of interested too. In what the damaging thing was.

Badenoch has sacked Jenrick; breaking news on Telegraph!

Blimey!
Camilla Tominey was saying he was about to defect to Reform over twixmas. I was surprised when Zahawi was announced as I expected it to be Jenrick. Tominey was right then.
Glad Kemi has knifed him first. He has clearly been working against her for months.

Likely, yes. Jenrick loves the spotlight so he would have made a song and dance of it.

You all know how I feel about Kemi, she’s ace and I hope she gets in and leads, I do wonder if Reform will have greater chances due to all this.

Up for debate, not sure

I think this will help Kemi, particularly as she sacked him first leaving RJ scrabbling for a place in Reform. The improvement in the polls is all down to her.
Kemi gets better every day.

True, thanks for that I want her to keep going up

@TheNuthatch I think my brain is showing classic signs of damage from social media - it warps your sense of time, or it does for me anyway.

He was quizzed on the 6th January - and in news terms that feels like ages ago.

I think I need a news break...and an MN break. I was about to have one but then something stressful happened on Sunday - and I abandoned the idea because I needed distraction from that! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Sorry to hear you've had some stressful news to deal with. Hope you'll be back to join us soon, its good to unplug from the Internet sometimes.

Couldn't give a stuff about the opinions of people who are free to speak as disagreeably as they please unless the intention is to incite violence or act illegally and/or persuade others to do either of the above.

That the state is acting to shut down disagreeable opinions by state apparatus, is anti democratic, however you cut it.

EmeraldRoulette · 15/01/2026 12:27

For avoidance of any confusion

I don't know whether it's right or wrong to deny Eva V admission to the UK

The reason I would have responded is that it was being suggested that she was a farming activist and got the notice three days after criticising Starmer - I don't think that's the reason she's been denied entry. obviously I'm not the government so I don't know for sure!

justasking111 · 15/01/2026 12:38

Jenrick is one of those people that give me the ick, he's a slitherer.

The thing about people who smear their employer as they leave is that it doesn't bode well for a new employer.

Upstartled · 15/01/2026 12:39

I think it's right that Kemi pushed Jenrick out before he had chance to leave under his own narrative.

I think it's telling that he made mumblings of discontent and was ready to leave as Kemi's popularity has improved and poll ratings for the party are now beginning to rise. It's a bad news day for the Tories but that Jenrick has given up on hopes to lead that party is indicative that the health of the party has improved since June / July and he was on approval manoeuvres.

CaveMum · 15/01/2026 12:42

I do have to wonder what Reform are playing at: Taking in all the pro-Boris Tories when it’s widely known how much Boris and Nigel hate each other. Wasn’t their (Reform) whole shtick that they were an alternative for those disillusioned by the Tories? Now they’re starting to look like a retirement home for former Tories!

Makes no difference to me, I’d happily wave off the good ship Reform as she steams towards the iceberg.

Kemi took the least worst option in getting rid of Jenrick. Certainly more decisive than Starmer’s wobbling around over Rayner, et al.

True. She doesn’t waver and dither like Starmer.

I don’t see AnnasFangs as setting out to derail or cause a fuss. The regular posters on this thread don’t always agree with each other, after all, and I’m inclined not to try to run people out of town because they have an opposing point to make.

Re Jenrick, there was a great quote about him that I read a few months ago along the lines of his being so ambitious that if his ambition was drained he’d be a bag of bones. I’ve never commented on him, certainly never praised him, as far as I can recall, because he’s always seemed to me to be a bit of a liability.

Ik you feel that way. I still use this thread to get away from posts such as below.
