A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

No fan of Davidson, she has been bloody awful on the ‘trans’ nonsense and has refused to engage with women who wanted to discuss it with her. In my opinion she would be more at home with the LibDems and I hope Kemi gives this new ‘movement’ short shrift.

The Conservative party needs to be conservative; I don’t agree with this ‘broad church’ idea if that means the party must adopt policies that are not conservative!

Oh has she?? I didn’t know that. For some reason I thought she supported women’s rights and didn’t succumb to the twaw nonsense. In that case I don’t like her.

the80sweregreat · 26/01/2026 13:29

I had the impression that it wouldn’t really interest Kemi , but they wasn’t criticizing the party at all and just wanted to represent the 7 million people who don’t want to vote Conservative, Reform or labour!
It did sound a bit ‘wishy washy, ‘ but it may appeal to some ?

OK, thanks.
That seems counterproductive to what Kemi is trying to build rn. They should be backing her, not undermining her.

‘Nuance’, 'culture war’, more light less heat’ all the usual fence-sitting buzzwords 😡

I used to really like RD too. Not anymore.

Well, it should be relatively easy to measure.

Simply track the delta for Reform’s polling before and after the recent Tory defections.

The recent defections seem to be doing Reform no favours.

I like that mid blue crossing over red.

AnnasFangs · 26/01/2026 14:24

I am happy to see the teal line coming down.🙏 for it to sink further after this latest defection.

Upstartled · 26/01/2026 14:25

Yes. Labour looking like a ski slope is satisfying too, when will they bottom out?

EasternStandard · 26/01/2026 14:27

I was just appreciating that red ski slope. I’m not sure any Labour loyalists could be happy with that.

Just having a mooch around the board and it seems the Starmerites are out in force wondering aloud why anyone would prefer Burnham...yes, yes...other than the fact that he sounds more human and comes across as a nice guy, is the frustrated response to the canvassed answers.

Obviously I'm not rooting for either of them but there does seem to be a real misunderstanding about the value of likeability as a conduit to building trust.

If there were any doubt, then the almost audible sigh of relief from opposition parties should be a clue.

Edited

Likeability. They've forgotten Tony then.

Deflection, gaslighting and now internecine warfare, is all that Labour have left.

EmeraldRoulette · 26/01/2026 14:41

I thought Suella was announcing tomorrow

Maybe they changed it to get the headlines away from Labour but that doesn't make sense because they're all negative headlines?

Weird question, does anyone know what the venue was for that announcement by Suella? I thought I recognised it. But if it's their HQ, then I wouldn't know it and it's just my imagination.

Good. They lasted around 19 months before making it clear to all. Nasty wotsits that they are.

It may well be that the timing has something to do with current political news.

But whether this defection announcement’s timing was by design or accident doesn’t really matter. Labour’s bogglingly bad decisions, disillusion with Starmer, ill-temper and festering hatreds will rumble on without any lessening of topicality or news value, whatever happens on the right.

If there’s any consolation for the Tories it’s that these defections are happening when they’re in opposition and media attention is rightly on the government. A really nasty civil war in Labour, which they’re gold medal winners at, and it’s all over for them. For good.

Likely the by election will be held on 26th February.

Labour clearly panicking and rushing.

Oh good. At least we won't have to wait too long to see how that plays out. I think the early day might be to put some clear water between a potential loss and the local elections.

Upstartled · 26/01/2026 15:54

Tapping my fingers waiting for some current polling now that Burnham has been kneecapped.

Do we already have a list on any of the threads with all the u-turns?

The Burnham issue: I have stashed industrial quantities of popcorn; please don't tell me the pyrotechnics will be delayed until Airmiles Starmer returns from his kow-towing jaunt to China.

Airmiles Starmer…like it.

Can you imagine being a captive audience with him, in an aluminium tube at 39,000 feet for 13 hours….?

It’s like the old joke - even the autopilot jumped out…

Yes, and if they lose the by election, it creates two separate points of peril for Starmer. 🍿

Not that I'm aware of. Its a long list, although according to some, there haven't been any u turns. 😂

Perhaps we should keep an up to date list at the top of every thread. They are coming thick and fast.
