A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Independence for Wales ! Yeah...

A vote for independence for Wales would gather around 20-22% if that . Plaid Crymu are only getting votes from disaffected Labour supporters and Plaid Crymu is only strong in about five seats in the West of wales, Anglesey and for some strange reason in the Aberconway seat , which includes Llandudno and half of ' Cheshire'..

Aberconwy boundary moved to take in heavy plaid areas. Which was very naughty.

Something else that puzzled me I have no idea if it's true

I heard that shops, businesses were opening in the daytime in Iran and closing early. And it gradually tailed off as they couldn't process payments without any links to the servers, etc but at some point they were taking cash.

Can that be true? I mean a revolution is not going to just calm down when people need to go to work. But all the videos I have seen take place after dark.... I suppose it's possible but it just seems so strange.

I feel as if that's a really silly question and the answer is probably obvious but I'm a bit lost.

I’d come out at night in the circumstances. Less chance of being identified

EmeraldRoulette · 15/01/2026 00:57

@DrPrunesqualer that's not my question though

My question is how can business be operating as usual when there is an actual revolution going on? maybe it is, but that surprises me.

and the courage it takes to be out on the street, these people know they'll be identified.

Agree most images I’ve seen have been night ones but there’s this article

@DrPrunesqualer thank you for the article

I think some reporters with family in Iran objected to that description - protests against the economic situation - a couple of weeks ago now or maybe it's 10 days? Losing track of time slightly 😂 but there are other reporters saying completely different things. It's so hard to know.

The article was from the 6th I think ( maybe that’s why the description isn’t correct to date )
I really just posted it as it was the first one I saw in daylight and as it mentioned the shut bazaars thought you’d be interested

but why are we both still up Emerald 😳

Since there has been excitement in the Media that the Reform Vote Was Collapsing: The More in Common Poll with Polling up to Tuesday shows You Guv are at odds again with the other polling companies.
More in Common 10-13th January
Reform 31%
Cons 21%
Labour 19%
Green 12%
Lib/Dem 12%
SNP 4%
Plaid 1%
Others 2%
Reform +10% Sample Size 2036

So many local elections cancelled. What are they worried about, losing to this extent?

Januaryescape · 15/01/2026 08:07

I was thinking looking at the footage of the protestors exactly that - they say the Iranian regime is quite good on tech, can identify people…chilling.
its gone quiet on the news today?

seems to have been some back channels comms between the US and Iran?

DancingFerret · 15/01/2026 08:25

It's being reported this morning that the Iranian regime is not as weak as the media would have us believe - certainly nowhere near being toppled.

Given that they are allegedly running / controlling / funding ‘extremist’ Islamic groups around the world, that shouldn’t be a shock to anyone.

Januaryescape · 15/01/2026 08:43

Yes, Trump has had a wake up call -
this isn’t going to be easy, we’ll fight you, do you want another quagmire? Back off we’ll stop the visible killings.

Depressing

On X last night early morning Iran was trending but most posts were vanishing inside two minutes. Some folks there are working hard to filter out any information.

TheNuthatch · 15/01/2026 09:26

Good morning.

Looks like the brutal crackdown with thousands killed is working....for now. I dread to think what the regime will do to the people arrested once eyes are averted.

Iran makes bloodcurdling threats all the time. I doubt they could do anything very much against massively defended US bases, warships and so on.

Iran’s attacks on Israel came to very little. Iran did nothing against the US when it bombed their most sensitive nuclear site.

I agree. It’s more the people there that I fear for. Just so sad to see.

0.3% growth in the economy.

Economists have partly put that performance down to paralysis caused by the build-up to a budget dominated by signals of more pain to come, including an income tax hike.

More bad news for construction though

Construction contracted again, registering its largest three-monthly fall in nearly three years."
Construction has endured tough times across the board for more than a year, with the housebuilding sector worst hit.

I hadn’t heard of her but it just came up on IG. If Starmer thinks doing that for anyone criticising him will help his ratings he couldn’t be more of an idiot.

He is an idiot, as his sleazy comment in yesterday's PMQs demonstrated. How he ever rose to the heady heights of DPP is beyond me.

Cancelling the visas of those who criticise him confirms his insecurity and lack of insight.

Incredible. Is he made of sand? The ego that can’t handle a tweet. Her publicity will outweigh any gain he thinks he has from stopping her speak in the U.K.

Politically he is an idiot.
