A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I honestly think he’s lost it.

I was just listening to a journalist talk about trying to report from China with President Xi closing off everything and it all being opaque.

I bet Starmer would eye that up if allowed. He must be sweating it.

The Greens talking about Gorton and Denton being a two horse race with Reform. What a pity for Labour.

peacefulpeach · 26/01/2026 11:55

We know the Labour hold the electorate in utter contempt. But here’s a reminder we don’t need. 🤬

Ageist, racist, and antisemetic. Many of the bigoted things they accuse reform supporters of being. It’s always the way - homophobes are very often gay. For example. The Labour party are so so backstabbingly nasty.

Andy Burnham has warned that Labour will lose the forthcoming by-election in Gorton and Denton after the party blocked the Greater Manchester mayor from standing as its candidate.

has some interesting with / without and factoring in tactical voting. I confess to not having looked at their detailed methodology - no shooting the messenger 😀. Though tbf these threads rarely if ever indulge in that.

Andy Burnham could win Andrew Gwynne’s seat

In Manchester, polling shows Burnham is bigger than Labour

That is bad. And what did he get a GP appointment and early pension? Bad SM is ok for some.

Braverman to Reform.

The pieces are falling into place.

I'm surprised that she didn't jump sooner, tbh. She's been giving them the side eye since the electoral defeat.

Just watching her on stage. She's making me cringe 😬

Oh no, what's she doing? She's not singing, is she?

No not singing 😂

Its just weird and the audience behind her was lit blue.

What do you mean, hyperobject?

EasternStandard · 26/01/2026 12:56

Starmer will be happy new headlines replace his dire ones, but the by-election is still looming so it ain’t over yet.

On Suella, makes sense but Kemi has a tough job ahead of her, she’s the only one who could get past this if anyone can.

It’s going to be hard though

TheNuthatch · 26/01/2026 12:56

I didn't realise Braverman was still a sitting MP. Thats 8 now for Reform.

CaveMum · 26/01/2026 13:02

Does absolutely no favours for Reform - they’re looking more and more like a Retirement Home for Distressed Tories.

How on earth they can claim to be the metaphorical “new broom” is beyond me.

Edited to add - I’m not bothered by the above, anything Nige does to shoot himself in the foot is fine by me.

Upstartled · 26/01/2026 13:06

Well, I'm not sure. Braverman can at least demonstrate her efforts towards reducing illegal immigration long before Reform had any momentum and her efforts were thwarted through ECHR injunctions. Those things will appeal to Reform voters in a way that is more authentic than, say, Jenrick's reform glow-up since 2024.

EasternStandard · 26/01/2026 13:13

Same the Telegraph comments are pretty happy from people I assume are voting for them.

Kemi is excellent but it’s going to be tough.

Hyperobject · 26/01/2026 13:17

Like many of you, I am a fan of Kemi, but like the US and elsewhere, politics is increasingly polarised in the UK, and I fear Kemi will be caught out in the open (i.e. the middle).

If it’s Reform or Labour, there is only one answer (to me, at least).

the80sweregreat · 26/01/2026 13:21

Ruth Davison and Andy street ( I think that’s his name) are starting a centralist momentum party within the Conservative Party. They were on with Laura K yesterday on bbc one and it was a bit muddled as to how it would work.

Well, it should be relatively easy to measure.

Simply track the delta for Reform’s polling before and after the recent Tory defections.

I was just reading about that. Its not clear to me whether this is for or against Kemi. Do you happen to know if Kemi is supportive?
I hope this is an attempt at 'broad church'.

I like RD but all this (on LK) did was remind me of the Your Party rhubarb

the80sweregreat · 26/01/2026 13:29

I had the impression that it wouldn’t really interest Kemi , but they wasn’t criticizing the party at all and just wanted to represent the 7 million people who don’t want to vote Conservative, Reform or labour!
It did sound a bit ‘wishy washy, ‘ but it may appeal to some ?
