A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

😂 At that last line.

Why would anyone want advice from Lammy. I read the extracts from that interview he did with Robinson. I was rolling my eyes at his comment about changing leader would trigger an election. Perhaps the penny has dropped that Starmer is probably the only person stupid enough to employ him.

I think the speed is the labour machine trying to unsettle Burnham into backing down.

This made me laugh...Lammy has said he wouldn't give Burnham any advice - and then went on to say 1) parties that air their dirty laundry are a turnoff for the public 2) that things are precarious because Labour are already trailing Farage in the polls 3) a change of leadership would likely trigger a general election.

Lammy seems to have the same playbook of not giving advice as my mil.

Haha 😬

inkognitha · 24/01/2026 10:22

They backtrack on Chagos? It was one of the first things he announced straight after his election, and the 18th or 19th u-turn so far? What a farce

This put aside, there’s a poll in the DM about why men/women dislike Farage. Support for Trump doesn’t seem to cut it for women.

Isn't it interesting, especially when there are so many articles about women lurching to the left, that there's an even bigger discrepancy in the question of whether Reform is too right wing - in which more men think that they are (26) than women (18)?

That doesn't fit with my expectations at all and I wonder what's going on there?

I think the whole TWAW batshittery has pushed a lot of women further to the right. That doesn't necessarily mean that they would like Farage or Trump though.

Are there?? I thought more women were moving far away from the left due to their bonkers views on twaw and misogyny! Perhaps that’s just people I know.

I think we need to give Labour some credit 😮

Unlike Traitors we’re not being made to wait for days after the latest cliffhanger. 😁

and I suppose their selection process is a bit like the roundtable.

almost as interesting is how confident is Zack in his powers of hypnosis? Great opportunity for us all to see if he really wants to stand up and be counted.

Will Your Party stand - are they, well both of them, still going. Would George stand under their banner or under his own steam. I suspect the latter.

it will be a complete circus of a by-election, putting the Romans to shame with their efforts.

I reckon 18 candidates on the ballot paper. Which might just favour the incumbent party if it is close. A whole host of candidates will only manage a small number of votes, but that might be more than the eventual winning margin.

I know popcorn has been mentioned more than once. Bulk buying may well be in order. I’m planning on starting the buying spree today. So if the popcorn shelf has been emptied in a supermarket near you you’ll know the reason why.

I'm fully stocked on 🍿 🍿 🍿

I wonder where all this leaves Wes Streeting? I heard Zoe Williams lastnight say that he was rumoured to resign from cabinet last week and press the trigger. But then the Greenland stuff happened so he held back.

Not the young ones. The UK is the last graph. The lurch to the left for both women and men here has been impressive over the last 15y.

The British young men have plateau’d but are definitely more liberal than their counterparts in other countries. Same for young British women but it’s slowing down.

Yes, although the lens is mostly on young women - which seems an elastic term that keeps expanding.

Hmm interesting! I wonder what the data would show today. Labour showing their true worse than useless colours have surely put people (of both sexes) off ‘the left’ ..

peacefulpeach · 24/01/2026 10:53

But yes younger cohort (like my children) are more left but aren’t they always.

Interesting, thanks.

I am on the right, but don't like Farage. It wouldn't stop me voting Reform though if that's the only option to remove Labour.

Good (sad) article posted in FWR..

‘Gender ideology has been a disaster for working-class women

There have been two huge victories for workers’ rights over the past week. And yet the left is schtum. No champagne corks are popping. No raised fist emojis have appeared on lefty social media. I bet no Labour-backing luvvie has plans to make a tear-jerking movie about this stirring triumph for working people.

We all know why. It’s because the victors are women, and more importantly they’re women who demanded that most scandalous right – the right to their own spaces, the right to undress away from men. The left is saying nowt – and in fact is probably seething – because it hates nothing more than an uppity broad who says sex is real and women matter.’

We don’t talk enough about the classism that fuels transgender ideology and other faddish beliefs popular in Britain

Yes. If the left wakes up from their identitarian cheese dream, they'd see how working class women in the state apparatus have played the ideological punch bag for the luxury beliefs of the management class

I think they know that full well 🤷‍♀️

I have a spaniel on my knee demanding some exercise so I'm off to the moors.

That the contempt is engineered and not accidental? I've said as much about the raging classism on the issue of immigration and other issues but to think that working class women have been targeted in particular feels like a gut punch. It certainly fits with the complete apathy around the industrial scale rape and torture of groomed working class girls.

Wow. Starmer said that towards KB? That is shocking (though in reflection..). Yep - he’d be disciplined in a normal workplace.

KB is bigoted toward disabled people.

Hello 👋 This thread just popped up. Excellent.. It’s good to see that many others think along the same lines. I actually can’t believe this shit heap of a non governing government have only been ‘in charge’ for 18months. My stomach turns (literally) when I think about the damage they could wreak in their remaining time.

Still at least the conservatives are up in the polls, and Labour - and inevitably Reform, are down. When Kemi is PM she can reverse this deluded Labour governments’ embarrassingly incoherent legacy.

Nice to get that off my chest before bed..!

Why would you vote for a party who has been historically hateful toward those most vulnerable in society? You could just not vote instead of voting for another branch of evil.

A lot of people disagree with the idea that men and women can't be in the same restrooms are locker rooms. I think you need to accept that fact instead of assuming they are bad or that they don't care about 'women'. Who are 'women' in this context? Neither Labour nor Conservatives care about anyone but themselves. Conservatives have been a disaster for disabled people over decades, many of which are women. So I suspect you're just being very single issue focused.
