A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

They’re very good at Traitors
🤣🤣

True 😀

It's a bit daft given that I know they're an important, trusted news source internationallly - or used to be, not now - but I have to confess my main loyalty to them is driven by nostalgia for cbeebies when DD was small.

For mid/late primary, there were better series on Netflix, but for really little ones cbeebies was the best. Sarah and Duck alone warrants giving them a second chance. Bing, 'Show me, show me', Melody, 'In the Night Garden' together warrant a third. Not sure about a 4th chance though...

Upstartled · 16/01/2026 19:00

I'm sure I read that Jenrick was late because he was looking in a mirror. 😁

Though we have no idea what they’re editing out.. 3 weeks of footage into a few hours.. The mind boggles

EmeraldRoulette · 16/01/2026 19:19

I just assumed that all these shows are scripted.

When I was in New York I used to walk past a drama school which had courses in acting for reality TV. They must have them here as well.

We’re past all that and don’t watch any BBC anyway. We do listen to the radio which isn’t in the fee but in the past have felt moved to pay, they’ve annoyed me more recently so haven’t.

But there is one reporter I do trust, Lyse Doucet who is v good on Iran.

justasking111 · 16/01/2026 21:44

For anyone wondering USA boots are on the ground somewhere in the middle east heading for Iran they're saying..

DancingFerret · 16/01/2026 21:44

I agree about Doucet; she clearly does her research and presents her findings clearly and comprehensively.

On another tack, much as I tend to side-eye Boris I think his take on the number of defections to Reform could well be accurate.

Can you explain? And source?

EasternStandard · 16/01/2026 22:37

A total curve ball not sure why it suddenly surfaced but Times Radio news line re calls for Starmer to sack Streeting for disloyalty. It’s like an echo! Bit bizarre and out of the blue.

DrPrunesqualer · 17/01/2026 00:55

redange · 16/01/2026 22:42

Total overreaction from the Met Police tonight outside the Iranian Embassy !

Thanks @redange and @justasking111 for these updates
News Reporting the Met antagonised the protestors, many protestors are injured and many arrested
What’s wrong with the Met !
I Appreciate they have a responsibility to defend the embassy but these scenes are like ICE at work !!

justasking111 · 17/01/2026 08:03

I despair. Scant coverage in the media I daresay.

EasternStandard · 17/01/2026 08:50

The sack Streeting headlines are amusing. It probably won’t happen but it’s funny to see them trip up again on it all.

Its on the front of The Times this morning. Labour MPs telling Starmer to be more like Kemi, next to a very flattering photo of Kemi. 😁

I really can’t see Starmer sacking anyone for disloyalty. He’s in too weak a position.

For those of us who want to see the back of this foolish and nasty government, that’s fine. Labour in-fighting and factionalism will just rumble on.

Awful. I haven't seen anything on the news again.
Tbf, the police were great at the protest I went to last week. They left us alone and were more bothered about the antifa lot.

Agree. Starmer is far too weak.
I will enjoy watching Labour tear themselves apart though as the ship continues to sink.

Starmer was also in Scotland on Thursday, but nobody noticed. 😂 Anas Sarwar must have been relieved when he left.

Agree with you both. He won’t but it’s great to see the infighting and Kemi inspired following.

Haha in Starmer in Scotland didn’t someone in Labour say he should stay away.

EasternStandard · 17/01/2026 09:33

Speaking of infighting I’m enjoying Karl Turner’s attack over jury trials. Keep going with that

@TheNuthatch Antifa were at the protest you went to? Why? I think I might have seen a clip of that on social media but I thought I misunderstood. Because what would they be doing there?

I saw a bit of Tousi TV last night talking about the protest and what happened - he seemed properly shocked. he was saying there weren't that many proestors there and it can't be argued that it was a confusing situation.

I was confused too. At first I thought antifa were trying to drown out the free Iran protesters. They were there to counter protest against a right wing protest apparently.
There were only around 4 or 5 right wing protestors who turned up, but the antifa lot carried on regardless.
Antifa were penned in by the police, It looked as if antifa were the counter protest to the free Iran protest. Bizarre.
