Sick of the same if things. We eat too many carbs and not enough fibre and protein. What are you having for dinner?! I need inspiration please!

Jacket potatoes with sauteed red onion and bacon and cheddar, grilled.

Italian salad leaves, tomatoes, celery, beetroot, grated carrot and mustard olive oil and red wine vinegar dressing.

I'm trying to incorporate more beans and lentils in my diet.

Made a new daahl recipe the other night and a really tasty bean chilli recipe today. Had it with Mexican rice, broccoli and red peppers. Ate a couple of watermelon slices after.

Feeling all warm and happy inside.

We had another one pot meal tonight as it was another evening of us all eating at different times!

Chicken, pearl barley and veg soup/stew (Nigella recipe with a few swaps). Very comforting on a dark rainy evening.

Tomorrow we are finally all home at once so will be steak, sauté potatoes and whatever veg needs using up before the weekly food shop arrives. I think we have cauliflower, a red pepper and a lonely courgette so will roast them.

Kitchen Sanctuary recipe honey garlic chicken with rice.

I'm going to try this at the weekend.

Tonight the DCs have either bangers, mash and broccoli using chicken sausages or spagetti meatballs using hidden vegetable pasta sauce- depending on what they choose from the quick poll I'll send them when they are on the bus.

Pepsi4Eva · 16/01/2026 13:35

I'm a bit sick of food right now so will have beans on toast I think

NellieJean · 16/01/2026 14:09

I had to ask the chef aka DH. I’m not kidding and he thinks this is normal which it is when he cooks at weekend.
Fillet of turbot with a vermouth cream sauce, buttered samphire and prawns, roasted La Ratte potatoes ( very important to mention the actual name evidently). He has his faults but cooking isn’t one of them.

Spanish cod and pepper stew. Or smoked basa curry. It depends which Asda has. I'm trying to do do fish Fridays so we eat more fish.

CleanSkin · 17/01/2026 16:52

Home made cauliflower & blue cheese soup & hm soda bread. Filling, cheap, tasty, nutritious, and it’s easy to make many portions at the same time. (Also provides endless entertainment opportunities for breaking wind in a few hours time, so marvellous value if you’re a DS…)

Brown rice and veg paella type affair. With bacon.

clingfilmed · 17/01/2026 19:02

Its a Laska tonight, need to go and make it now!

strangerjackets · 17/01/2026 19:05

We are about to eat salmon burgers with mashed potatoes, cucumber salad, and green peas

OttersMayHaveShifted · 17/01/2026 19:14

Game and cider casserole with mash. Looking forward to it!

TenuousTed · 17/01/2026 19:14

I had lunch in a restaurant and had garlic roasted chicken thighs in a red pepper sauce with roast vegetables and pesto mash.

mondaytosunday · 17/01/2026 19:17

Chicken Kiev, roasted carrots and a baked potato.

CannotBeInterestedInYourDrama · 17/01/2026 19:19

Chicken Jaldrezi, rice, a pakora and a samosa each. A nice Indian lager to wash it down.
