Food that doesn't taste the same as it used to

Ritz crackers.
What in the name of feck did they do to them?
Where are those crispy, crunchy, salty circles of deliciousness?
Instead we have slightly off, stale tasting discs of disappointment.

I know from others that McVitie's Chocolate Digestives are also on the gone downhill list.
Anything else?

Yes, op, I got a craving for Ritz crackers and what a disappointment that was.

Also

Angel Delight - butterscotch.

Heinz Macaroni cheese. Ruined!

Most chocolate.

BobbyBrewstersMagicTorch · 25/11/2025 19:33

Try the Aldi version of Ritz, they're much better

It’ll be the palm oil. It nearly always is 🙁

ChallaMama · 25/11/2025 19:48

Agree @therewasafishinthepercolator with the angel delight. It's just not at all the same.

AgingLikeGazpacho · 25/11/2025 19:48

Most chocolate and biscuits (white chocolate in particular tastes dreadful nowadays)

Dominos/Pizza Hut

Calpol

Nitgel · 25/11/2025 19:48

Jelly

BedlingtonLint · 25/11/2025 19:49

Tomatoes, unless home grown, and even then I don’t think they’re quite as good as they used to be.

TomatoSandwiches · 25/11/2025 19:49

Yes, no little salt flecks to lick off the crackers now 😢

I tried to find a cherryade for some summer icecream floats but they're is nothing that compares to a 1990s panda pop, too sweet and not enough fizzy.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 25/11/2025 19:50

Root veg.

It simply isn't the same as it was in the 70s and 80s. It's bland, tasteless, and goes rank in days when it used to keep for weeks.

SatsumaCandlesCloves · 25/11/2025 19:50

Most chocolate especially cadburys ,I'm.absolutly sick of Palm oil

Bigearringsbigsmile · 25/11/2025 19:50

Cadbury dairy milk

Needmorelego · 25/11/2025 19:51

In just the last few weeks something has been done to cheese and onion Ringos.
I'm not sure what but they seem different 🤷
I bought some Krackawheat crackers a couple of months ago and they were not how I remember them at all. Disappointed.

SatsumaCandlesCloves · 25/11/2025 19:52

Bread and chickens .

Only in france or Italy so they taste ok and I try and get higher welfare here or free range and occasionally organic

AgnesX · 25/11/2025 19:54

Crisps
Cheddaries
Coca cola
7 Up (is spectacularly vile)
Sprite
Bacon ... it's so hard to find any that's decent

It's all so disappointing.

Velvelletteshewasreallysayingsomething · 25/11/2025 19:57

Jaffa cakes a pale imitation of the 70s version and now about the size of an old 10p.
Jacobs club remember when you could nibble the chocolate off then eat the biscuit underneath.
Now they're just chocolate coloured.
After eights dinky slimy things
Not the 70s version of dark chocolate minty fondant goodness.

Really struggle to get decent bread.

MaxandMeg · 25/11/2025 20:01

Cox apples.

Badslipperluck · 25/11/2025 20:01

Definitely tomatoes. Some of them used to actually taste of tomatoes but now even when I buy the fancy heirloom ones they're crap watery mush.

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 25/11/2025 20:06

ribena, twiglets

Terrribletwos · 25/11/2025 20:14

Pretty much everything tastes of nothing now.

Strawberries, raspberries, grapes...all fruit.
Most veg with the exception of certain stuff in season, grown here.

All bakery products such as pies, donuts, breads, etc

Biscuits, chocolate, etc...is crammed with palm oil which so spoils the taste and not many kicked off about all the habitat lost when that rolled round...so sad, now it's in almost every upf.

HRTQueen · 25/11/2025 20:14

Frazzels becuase now they have no artificial flavours in 🤔

if I am eating something that tastes nothing like real food why do I care that it has no artificial flavours in

Ribena 😞 this saddens me I still drink it but it’s not the same. There are some lovely blackcurrant drinks around that taste more like how Ribena used to taste but have to go to a big Sainsbury’s to get it

Beefjerky · 25/11/2025 20:16

Wispa Chocolate Mousse. What the fuck have they done to it? It used to be a teeny pot of joy but in the last 6 weeks, it’s become a pot of brown coloured slop?

SeaAndStars · 25/11/2025 20:18

Toothpaste. I know that's not food but it doesn't taste like it used to.
It's slimy now.

jimmypug · 25/11/2025 20:19

Baked beans all taste really watery and bland lately. Almost a bit saccharine ified
