I don't always mind visitors who are at least transparent and use the same name they have always used -or can be found on other threads using a current name (waves towards the direction of derxa who isn't even really a 'visitor') but a poster who has one user name, that they appear to use exclusively for this thread and nowhere else on MN is up to something nefarious and bad faith.

ZP does nothing to dispel my association of the Greens with naive student politics.

For the sake of the monitors I can confirm that I have been undertaking more fitting past times in between browsing, such as wonky embroidery. I've run out of daylight, however and I don't want it to become that wonky.

That’s beautiful! Is it evenweave, or 20 count?

PickAChew · 10/11/2025 16:27

Karistyleaftea · 10/11/2025 16:21

That is so lovely @PickAChew .
I'm teaching myself how to draw faces ( finding it very hard to get a good likeness ) and am getting defeated by the shortening daylight hours and my own short sight.

This time last year, I wouldn't have been able to do it. I had a cataract removed 2 years ago and complications from that which would have been easily fixable had I been listened to in the first place. Ended up waiting until it was so bad that I daren't go out when the roads were busy. It took 5 minutes to sort out.

SerendipityJane · 10/11/2025 16:28

I like the idea of a green party. However I also do science and the two aren't really compatible

dontcallmelen · 10/11/2025 16:30

Maybe Piggy I always had a lot of time for Caroline Lucas when she spoke on TV/parliament she came across very straight talking & eminently sensible & Yy Carla Denyer air of gentleness I just get the impression from Zac Polanski he has his eye on the main chance more than his actual beliefs but I suppose that can apply to many politicians.
as for talking about Reform I think it would be a odd not discussing them & the threat they pose to the country we are already seeing the results of his & the likes of Pochin/Lowe/Grimes etc hateful stirring rhetoric just taking a look at some of the threads from last weekend on MN was sickening & many people appear to have been emboldened unfortunately.

It's just some leftover, reasonably heavy dressmaking linen. I was worried it might be too loose but holds the stitches well, off the hoop. I have another, slightly more fiddly one to do and I might back it with some voile for a bit of extra stability.

dontcallmelen · 10/11/2025 16:33

Pickachew that is so pretty, love embroidery have a few of my late Mums tablecloth’s that she embroidered so pretty.
@derxa do hope your Dh is recovering well & all your sheep are well.

I find it very mindful and relaxing. It's also easier to pick up and pit down than my big sewing and doesn't hurt my hands or require as much concentration as knitting. It fits in nicely with DS2 not being out of the house as much now that he's left school.

Checking in on the thread and seeing 50 new messages, you just know we had some visitors popping by.

I reckon the namechanges are so that they can pretend they don't understand the thread title and to call us labour fans obsessed with Reform over and over again.

I guess posting emojis can get tiresome.

Thanks for the support @Bluefacedsheep , it's only a cold, I will survive

Or wasn't that what you meant?

Some good news, Samir Zitouni

“His wife has shared the wonderful news that Sam woke up briefly yesterday, and she was able to speak with him for a short time. This is a truly positive step forward, though there is still a long journey ahead in his recovery.”

It was.

dontcallmelen · 10/11/2025 17:17

Oh that’s really good news hope he continues to improve.
such sad news about the woman who died after being attacked so awful.

Efacsen · 10/11/2025 17:17

That is good news about Sam Zitouni - was wondering how he was getting on

PickAChew · 10/11/2025 17:18

That is very promising news, @DuncinToffee - I hope he makes a good recovery.

I loved the poster who claimed it was his/her civic duty to intervene in these threads.

There does seem an awful lot of Tory & Reform posters wanting to editorialise them.

It’s a bloody chat on MN - quite why we’d need to be scrutinised for compliance I have no idea.

I think that’s a reference to me. I actually said, many months ago and from memory, that I was doing a public service by correcting the nonsense on these threads. Which was clearly tongue in cheek. But never underestimate the painfully literal nature of the disgruntled left.

Anyway, it’s been a long time. How’s it going with this non-chaotic grown-up government of such able, honest and clever people as Starmer, Reeves, Rayner, Lammy, and Haigh?

dontcallmelen · 10/11/2025 17:26

A lot better than the likes of Boris, Truss, Kwateng,Zahawi,Grayling,Jenrick,Francois, Patel, Braverman & all the other ejjits I’ve erased from my memory.

PandoraSocks · 10/11/2025 17:28

Blimey! Hiya Rummly. I remember you now. Have you seen the Labour isn't Working thread? I think you'd enjoy it more than this one, tbh.

Notonthestairs · 10/11/2025 17:30

Hehe. I had zero memory of who had posted about civic duty.
But lovely to see that you Watch these threads.

SerendipityJane · 10/11/2025 17:31

That is a full time job for a team of 4.

Hello! I’ve been busy. I’ll seek out the thread you mention. I doubt I’ll be able to properly exercise my alleged ‘snark’ there to the full though.

If it was during the Kirk murder, it was a different name.
