Not sure why you have all got upset at that.
Responding to drive-by goading isn’t ‘getting upset’
Have the measure of you now @Bluefacedsheep . Despite your most excellent taste in wool, I’m disappointed to see you are also just here on the wind up.

Stating facts is a wind up? I too have noticed that reform is mentioned a lot. How is that goady? The thread is called Starmer.

How very middle school. With a bit of effort you could go all the way down to nursery and tell us we smell of poo.

I smell of jerk seasoning. And I have discovered that I am violently allergic to silvervine sticks after my toothless orange spent half an hour gumming one. Antihistamines deployed and probably back to catnip.

Sounds better than the national chain we had to take ours to when we had the same thing happen. They managed to damage the wheel, taking the tyre off, then tried to claim that it couldn't possibly have happened with their equipment. Thankfully DH had his "I would like to speak to the manager" head on and the manager agreed that it did happen and it shouldn't have happened and arranged for it to be repaired.

I try to steer clear when it comes to national chains - I'll get my coat.

There is also a thread that is called "Labour isn't Working". Doesn't mean they only discuss Labour. Like us, they discuss politics more widely than their thread title.

It was the sly little Edit more than anything else. You just had to throw in ‘all got upset’. Patronising hyperbole. Facts are fine. Your perception that we talk about Reform a lot is also fine. But like I said, I’m in a Reform area, Farage’s tactics and lies are having a direct impact on the (mostly) lovely county I live in. So if I want to talk about Reform I will do. As will anyone else on these threads.

Because he is the PM. We have had Sunak threads, Boris threads, May threads - though the titles have only settled into a pattern since the LBE (Late Borisian Era).

They have always been topical and politically wide ranging.

They don't make monitors like they did in the good old days is all I'm saying.

Starmer is the current Prime Minister. Labour is in Government until 2029.

Keep up.

PandoraSocks · 10/11/2025 15:41

Why does it bother you what we discuss @bluefacedsheep ?

PickAChew · 10/11/2025 15:43

Bluefacedsheep · 10/11/2025 15:22

There is a lot of talk about Reform and Farage on this thread though, the poster is not wrong. Not sure why you have all got upset at that.

Edited

Upset is not an emotion I am currently experiencing. Maybe my posting style has a RBF that obscures my wry amusement at the flying monkeys and their playground taunts.

Seconding this. Speaking for myself, I stay away from the 'we hate Labour' threads. We must be doing something right here to warrant all this scrutiny 😂. I reckon it's our vastly superior cats.

placemats · 10/11/2025 15:45

I reckon they're all secret Guardian readers and also love the BBC.

Unfortunately we had no choice! One of the downsides of our "free" and probably far too "luxurious" car.

I’m always a bit mystified at people who come on threads to pick and pike about what’s said on them. It’s an odd hobby.

Well aren't those two things complete opposites?

Starmer is the prime minister. These threads are named after the current PM and are about UK politics and government in general.

Same here Pandora
i want to like Zac Polanski but i dont trust him.
hope you feel much better soon Duncin colds are the pits.

I feel the same.

He was funny in the Last leg but there just “something” that makes me wary of him.

Not sure what it is though?!

I loved the poster who claimed it was his/her civic duty to intervene in these threads.

There does seem an awful lot of Tory & Reform posters wanting to editorialise them.

It’s a bloody chat on MN - quite why we’d need to be scrutinised for compliance I have no idea.

It is odd that lots of us feel like this about him, but can't quite pin down why.

He just gives off an air of insincerity, for me, in a way that other politicians don't, even if I disagree with them about things. The Green party deserve better than him imo, but hey, they chose him so {shrug}

I also feel like that about him, and can't put my finger on why. I would vote Green if it made tactical sense (and if I had a vote), but that will never happen here.

Cappuccinofrotherextraordinaire · 10/11/2025 16:07

Everything else aside I do like ‘LBE - Late Borisian Era’. How Very Boris. He’d be pleased ad punchium about that.

Clearly I didn’t do Latin cos I’m not posh (unlike Boris and my children).

I don’t know much about his policies but he personally gives me the ick.

PickAChew · 10/11/2025 16:17

ZP does nothing to dispel my association of the Greens with naive student politics.

For the sake of the monitors I can confirm that I have been undertaking more fitting past times in between browsing, such as wonky embroidery. I've run out of daylight, however and I don't want it to become that wonky.

As ever, just to be contrary, I like Polanski.

I think maybe we aren't his demographic. Where we maybe might have liked the gentleness of Denyer and the maturity of Lucas, the young seems drawn to his social media presence and his straight talking.

Karistyleaftea · 10/11/2025 16:21

That is so lovely @PickAChew .
I'm teaching myself how to draw faces ( finding it very hard to get a good likeness ) and am getting defeated by the shortening daylight hours and my own short sight.
