@PandoraSocks I also do not like ZP. A hypnotic effort to increase breast sizes as a form of making money? He’s leadership material?

I know the Greens are a bit woo but just no. It confirms my view that they are not a serious party.

I’m on the fence about him, but the boob hypnosis was a Sun stitch up back in the day, not a money spinner and not ‘serious’.

Sorry about your cold @DuncinToffee . There are some nasty ones about at the moment. Get well soon.
Re the BBC, I applaud Davey for speaking out about Trump, but I was on the verge of attacking the BBC myself. I’ve more or less stopped watch8ng their political output. They don’t much behave as though they belong to all of us. Let’s hope this shake up wakes them up a bit.

I gave up on the BBC years ago. I can tell you the exact moment - they had Blair and Farage on Today, and the issue of a second referendum was the topic. Nick Robinson basically told Tony Blair that he wasn't interested in what he had to say as Farage was speaking for the will of the people so why didn't he just shut up and accept democracy.

Even Blair was speechless.

I have no sympathy for whatever woes the BBC has managed to pull down on itself.

Sadly David Attenborough will pass soon - and that will be the last light going out. Not for wildlife documentaries. But for the man who made the BBC of the 60s and 70s.

Laugh ? I nearly paid my licence fee.

Sky News has invited Kelvin Mackenzie to talk about the BBC Hmm

Bleurgh. Odious man.

Piggywaspushed · 10/11/2025 12:29

I suspect the issues many of us have with the BBC are not the same issues Prescott has attacked them on though. Quite the opposite. A certain type of voice is being heard and this in built bias concerns me a great deal.

Prescott's 'both siding' definition of no bias is risible. Both sides of climate change anyone?

Did you read the article? I did. I was not impressed. Nor am I impressed by his explanation!

Evenstar · 10/11/2025 12:32

Sickening to see Nigel Huddleston (Shadow DCMS) claiming that the BBC is biased towards the left when the news channel has just platformed Farage again 🤮

I didn’t, because what would be the point? I wouldn’t believe the Sun if it said the sky was blue.
Like I said, I have reservations, mostly around him identifying as a populist, but this criticism seems a bit lame and unfounded. If they had anything more about him they’d be using it.

It's boils down to Boris Johnson. Follow the trail.

Was thinking along the same lines, also agree shame about Robbie Gibb not stepping down also does seem an extraordinary stupid thing to do especially as we all know what he said & the result of the storming of the Capitol Building.
always thought that Boris & Farage are cut from the same cloth, except they adopt different personas the eccentric scruffy buffoon V the chap down the pub both totally unscrupulous grifting liars spouting soundbites promoting only themselves for gain & have absolutely zero interest in the electorate or the country’s wellbeing the BBC did & are doing excellent work with these two cretins.

bombastix · 10/11/2025 13:58

It doesn’t matter whether it’s about Boris Johnson’s vendetta against the BBC. They should not have edited this to look like one continuous piece of footage. It is deceptive. Also, there were any number of ways that they could have shown that there was a time gap.

You don’t have to like Trump to see a problem with this. The BBC only has impartiality to protect its particular status. This was not impartial.

DuncinToffee · 10/11/2025 13:58

Sovereignty

BBC News has learned that President Donald Trump has sent a letter to the BBC threatening legal action.

The BBC has confirmed it has received the letter and will respond in due course.

It’s a very bad outcome for the BBC. Awful. The timing could not be worse.

The only people who endlessly platform Reform, apart from Reform, is this thread, and the Labour Party..

How very middle school. With a bit of effort you could go all the way down to nursery and tell us we smell of poo.

And yeah @DuncinToffee Sovereignty.

Back from the recycling centre and on the way there noticed that the tyre pressure light had back on again - it was checked out last Friday. So back to the local tyre centre - great place. Nail in the months old new tire, but it was able to be repaired at the fraction of the cost of a new tyre.

Love a bit of clearing out and a save.

There is a lot of talk about Reform and Farage on this thread though, the poster is not wrong. Not sure why you have all got upset at that.

Sounds better than the national chain we had to take ours to when we had the same thing happen. They managed to damage the wheel, taking the tyre off, then tried to claim that it couldn't possibly have happened with their equipment. Thankfully DH had his "I would like to speak to the manager" head on and the manager agreed that it did happen and it shouldn't have happened and arranged for it to be repaired.

Saucery · 10/11/2025 15:27

Some of us have the immense ill fortune to be in a Reform council area. Am I not permitted to say how much I abhor all they stand for, led by a cynical, grifting shyster?
Maybe if mainstream news stopped highlighting Farage’s every burp and fart we’d have more to talk about from that perspective.

Saucery · 10/11/2025 15:30

Responding to drive-by goading isn’t ‘getting upset’
Have the measure of you now @Bluefacedsheep . Despite your most excellent taste in wool, I’m disappointed to see you are also just here on the wind up.

Edited

At the moment Reform is the main opposition. It is also the absolute anathema of what most of the posters here hold dear. Of course we will talk and share views.

I suppose our conversations about Reform might puzzle you if you are under the mistaken impression these threads are about cheerleading for Starmer and co. They have never been about that.
