It is a shame that there has never been as much fuss about the BBC endlessly platforming Farage since about 2015.

The only people who endlessly platform Reform, apart from Reform, is this thread, and the Labour Party..

cardibach · 09/11/2025 18:47

In fairness, they did edit two bits together. The argument is around whether that materially altered perception of the speech. I’d say it didn’t. We all know what he meant.

Edited

The fact that people can’t seem to understand the problematic nature of actually editing news sources, is shocking. Never bother. You’re in good company. Mandy I mean Nandy doesn’t see it either.

Read, I mean monitor, these threads a lot do you?

PandoraSocks · 10/11/2025 11:13

I fancy a coffee now.

pointythings · 10/11/2025 11:15

The data on the platforming of Farage on the Beeb is clear.

But this was a clear cut case of the BBC shooting itself in the foot. A simple voice over indicating that the second clip was from later in the speech would have done the job and conveyed just how serious Trum's words were.

Hello, new monitor.

The poor woman who was stabbed in the neck in Birmingham has died Sad

PandoraSocks · 10/11/2025 11:29

Oh no. That is really sad. What a terrible thing to happen.

Edited as I got the perpetrator mixed up with another violent bastard.

Awful news.

Piggywaspushed · 10/11/2025 11:42

On a point of order, the BBC itself did not edit the documentary.

Find me any documentary that isn't making meaning through splicing, juxtaposition and frankenbiting. To believe they present unadulterated , objective chronological truth is naive.

That said, the BBC's own housekeeping should have been more careful about the material they used.

DuncinToffee · 10/11/2025 11:48

Proper coffee, not that weak cappuccino stuff for me☕

I have stocked up on tissues and managed to avoid the worst of the rain ☔

That is awful news @Efacsen

I think the BBC needed a re-organisation but not because of foreign interference.

Gibb and Johnson

And Trump just pardoned more than 75 alledged coup plotters

I didn’t listen to it, reading is free. I feel the same about Polanski but I think I’m biased because I really rate Carla Denyer.

You have to sign up though. Enough people have my details…

Speeches are always edited for news broadcast and documentaries. They can’t play the whole thing. What matters is whether it changes/dostorts perception. Anyone who has heard that whole speech knows that Trump was definitely inciting the attacks.
People who think it’s funny to get politicians’ names wrong (and this one wasn’t even remotely amusing) rarely have useful insights in my experience.

Ed Davey

I’ve written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage urging them to condemn Donald Trump’s attack on the BBC.

The BBC belongs to Britain, not Trump. We must defend it together.

Sorry about your cold @DuncinToffee . There are some nasty ones about at the moment. Get well soon.
Re the BBC, I applaud Davey for speaking out about Trump, but I was on the verge of attacking the BBC myself. I’ve more or less stopped watch8ng their political output. They don’t much behave as though they belong to all of us. Let’s hope this shake up wakes them up a bit.

‘It's true the BBC doesn't help itself unfortunately, and the dodgy editing of the panorama piece, is remarkably idiotic. There are so many lies that Trump tells, you really don't have to doctor a story in anyway to nail old 'slippery' mouth to the wall.’

Ah well. Silly old misogynistic uncle.

Yes. I agree Cardi. It is a shame Robbie Gibb hasn't stepped down.

bombastix · 10/11/2025 12:11

@PandoraSocks I also do not like ZP. A hypnotic effort to increase breast sizes as a form of making money? He’s leadership material?

I know the Greens are a bit woo but just no. It confirms my view that they are not a serious party.

placemats · 10/11/2025 12:14

Farage says small business were betrayed by Brexit (in context of regulations, whisper it).

Has he got out of the wrong side of the bed?

Fair enough but maybe the BBC could not do something so cretinous. I would think the timing is absolutely dire for them.

It's boils down to Boris Johnson. Follow the trail.
