Yes, I couldn't post on a few threads.

Very glitchy quote function wouldn’t play ball either, seems a bit better now.
Jane I’m sorry life is difficult at the moment & sometimes just getting through the day is a total slog & it’s bloody hard💐
Yy Sainsbury's, the quite large one near me the stock levels have been shocking lots of random stuff not available & shelves filled with the same product not nearly as much choice feels like it’s been that way since covid.

PandoraSocks · 14/11/2025 16:02

Sorry to hear of your troubles @SerendipityJane . Would you like me to send you a salted caramel care package 😋?

My Sainsbury's seems well stocked. I was outraged by M&S yesterday, though. I wanted to make a veggie moussaka, but they had no aubergine.

The weather is absolutely foul here and I am hibernating. I should have done my tax return, but no. Faffed about all day instead.

Outraged Pandora - how very MN 😉🤣

I had a salted caramel flavour protein shake for lunch 😋

cardibach · 14/11/2025 16:11

I had a hair appointment and then did a bit of shopping and had a pleasant lunch with a friend - all pretty much under cover thankfully as it’s biblical rain here today.

I have something in my eye ... best stick to discussing why Labour are so shit, but nowhere near as bad as the Tories were.

LittleBowSheep · 14/11/2025 16:31

Blowing a hooley here in north Wales today.

Starmer and crew flew up to Anglesey yesterday to announce the UK's first small nuclear power station is to be built on the island (I'll believe that when I see it).

The only thing flying here today is a few wheelie bins.

itsgettingweird · 14/11/2025 16:35

It’s very grey and wet here but luckily not too windy.

Finally, 50 years too late, the UK discovers nuclear power.

Apparently Westinghouse thought they had that contract sewn up, so not quite sure what happened there.

The theory is the RR SMRs can be taken from the factory to site and just setup. Unlike the current every-nuke-is-unique approach with about 27 individual and sequential planning stages.

Yes, my understanding is that they will be built elsewhere and transported to site. It does sound reasonably positive this time but we're all still a bit wary. The island is crying out for jobs though.

Well they won't be local. The UK fell behind in commercial nuclear power decades ago. Not really in shareholders interests.

This is where the moronity of the patriots meets the reality of the world. If you want to pay fuck all tax (and even then cheat on that) you can hardly complain when your education system can't cater for UK based high tech jobs. So what will happen is people will study as far as they can in the UK and then fuck off abroad with all the tax money they would have paid to the UK going to (in my DBs case) the US. (We are all paying for his student grant by they way, because he hasn't). So we have to import the people who were able to study things, And then complain about "da immigrantz".

Excellent news if it does happen Yy employment prospects would be another tangible bonus, as for the Brexit damage No Shit Sherlock sheer stupidity of the highest order the architects of it should be held to account won’t hold my breath though.
I wish I enjoyed cooking, I’m one of those weirdos not fussed about food unless someone else cooks it, I’d happily live on breads/cheeses with an odd slice of cake.

I like hot cross buns, quick snack and great with cheese Smile

Mmm delicious - after Good Friday service that seems never ending (about 2hours). Gave up fasting now but even more special when it was the first food since Thursday night,

Close relative has spent a lifetime working in the Nuclear power industry.
He has so much experience so has still not retired .

Hope things ease up for you @SerendipityJane .

Even I was amazed to discover that 16% of the UKs economy is dependent on the space economy recently.

Again, something we really should exploit, given the UKs surprisingly high standing in the world of international rocketry. (You won't read about it in this parish though, for some reason).

Or maybe stop their benefits 😀

BIossomtoes · 14/11/2025 18:22

Just driven back from Durham to Cambs in biblical rain all the way with the A1 flooded in several places. Hope it’s OK with you Cardi and Pandora, it looks horrific in Wales.

Evenstar · 14/11/2025 18:28

Wind here in the North West is terrible and showing no signs of dying down, chickens have been hiding in their house and the new fence we had in the summer has been damaged.

Hope all are safe and not too much damage

PickAChew · 14/11/2025 18:29

Should have waved, @BIossomtoes 😁

The Wear was whole centimetre off giving Elvet riverside a wash, last night. And that bit of the A1 near Catterick is notorious for flooding. It's right in't dip.

And talking of the drudgery of meal prep... I need to get off my arse. I have a prick with a fork paella for mine and the younger men are having something crunchy out of the freezer. Sloth ftw.

Evenstar · 14/11/2025 18:30

@DuncinToffee 🤢 how dare they march around like that in a country where they are immigrants
