While I don't wish to be controversial... 🤣
I can confirm that Marmite is the food of the Gods, whereas salted caramel is just a bit meh.

PickAChew · 11/11/2025 21:10

I do like marmite but, along with lemon, it's one of the many foods that doesn't like me.

But it seems to have been added to everything, lately. Even pizza.

You’ll get full agreement from me.

pointythings · 11/11/2025 21:13

No to Marmite and salted caramel. Yes to lemon.

A lot of things need chillies more than you think.

BestIsWest · 11/11/2025 21:15

And yes to the chillies too.
Marmite topped with mashed banana on toast is my absolute favourite thing. Pondering now whether a sprinkling of dried chili might enhance it.

MaybeNotBob · 11/11/2025 21:35

You are all disgusting!

Marmite and banana. Oh, no. That does not appeal. Marmite and chillies, yes.

Avocado, tomato and chillies on toast, yum.

DuncinToffee · 11/11/2025 21:38

Marmite ok, chillies yes, avocado nah

Yes to Marmite, salted caramel and lemon with anything.

Big fat no to tea though.

cardibach · 11/11/2025 22:00

Chilli with chocolate. And vice versa. ✅
chilli in general ✅
Lemon ✅
salted Caramel ✅ (but there’s too much of it about)
Marmite ✅
Sprouts ❌

DuncinToffee · 11/11/2025 22:05

Sprouts, depends on their size and how prepared but I don't buy them.

Sprouts are the work of the devil.

cardibach · 11/11/2025 22:21

I loathe them. I can only eat them if they have been over prepared to the point they can no longer be identified.

PandoraSocks · 11/11/2025 22:25

LlttledrummergirI · 11/11/2025 22:11

Sprouts are the work of the devil.

I used to think that. But now I really like them. Gennaro has a lovely sprout linguine recipe.

Lemons belong in a G&T. In a curd. And possibly a posset.
Nowhere else.

No, no, no!

Lemon is fabulously versatile in cooking.

placemats · 11/11/2025 22:31

Cumin in all Mediterranean ragu, lemon pasta is the food of the gods and goddess and marmite pasta is blooming marvelous - great on toast as well, especially in the depths of winter.

Here ends the lecture. Thank me later.

This bizzare media frenzy on a leadership challenge is simply another attack on a government that's doing very well. Weekly we see improvement.

PickAChew · 11/11/2025 22:58

Love sprouts.

Theyre such a bloody faff to prepare, though.

MaybeNotBob · 12/11/2025 01:00

Bacon.

Bacon goes with everything sprouts.

Howtoaccept · 12/11/2025 06:24

No to marmite or salted caramel here.
drink tea

Sprouts are the work of the devil.

Agreed - Sprouts are evil little bastards.

I don’t think Streeting has launched a leadership campaign.

I do think we got a media and public with the attention span of Snapchat.

BUT the Budget shouldn’t have been left this late. It’s left a gap for the media to fill. Entirely predictable.

Fill my 24x7 news coverage or I will do it for you.

I think after the Tory clown show the media felt that being PM is like a series of strictly. Who is this seasons favourite ?

Deafnotdumb · 12/11/2025 08:21

@placemats give me some hope! It's bloody hard from a business perspective and I'm bracing myself for more costs and complications in the Budget.

Love marmite and sprouts are delicious as long as you pan fry and pair them with complimentary flavours (bacon and black pepper) Boil them and you have a dish fit for the torture chamber.

Also; garlic and buttered chili on lightly steamed broccoli. Amazing.

Alexandra2001 · 12/11/2025 08:21

Well, some in the Labour party are talking about getting rid of Starmer.... & his team are fighting back.
Streeting had a chance to scotch rumours but didn't "i can see no circumstance in which i would stand against KS..."

Its utterly pathetic & yet another gift horse to the opposition.
