I finished a purple skirt but never wore it due to it being horrible. Not entirely my fault, the pattern was grim.

We didn't do sewing in school. We had art for all and crafts for all, the latter including woodwork, pottery, metalwork, mask making but nothing related to sewing or knitting. Not sex segregated either, and nor was PE, ever.

Absolutely disgusted to hear about the racism Wes Streeting mentions here directed at school children who were visiting Parliament.

He has taken the post down, rightly, to protect the children.

But it's wrong that he had to do it.

Disgusted with so many people in our country. Racism is never OK.

Suffer little children ...

Piggywaspushed · 11/11/2025 14:44

Well, quite- I posted the tamer Guardian article on this yesterday. Always interrogate the source.

I am also tone deaf. I am very envious of people who can sing.

Another tone deadline here.

We definitely need to leave the beautiful harmonies to cardi and her amazing tones 😊

I have a reasonable voice, but nothing like my mum. She was the leading lady for years of the Leeds Amateur Operatic Society and the Headingly Amateur Operatic Society, both of whom performed at The Grand Theatre in Leeds. She was in a choir that sang with Harry Secombe on the opening credits of his Sunday show, and also had a solo spot on The Good Old Days (for those of us old enough to remember that!)

I have a huge box of photos and press cuttings from her performances, along with some fabulous photographs of her in her (beautiful) stage costumes.

Wow BIWI thats impressive.

my mum could sing and my dad plays the guitar and now the ukelele and mandarin after the last few Xmas purchases to keep him amused 🤣

Mu nephew plays the piano really well - self taught!

LittleBowSheep · 11/11/2025 16:17

I'm hopeless at all arts and crafts. Can't paint, draw, sew or knit. I got a 'U' in art and design O level at school. Neither can I sing, dreadful voice. It's that bad that I was kicked out of the school choir in primary school.

I'm reasonably good at gardening though and pretty good at garden design (just don't ask me to draw it).

Adding to the disgust. The restraints are off now, thanks to Reform, Yaxley-Lennon et al.

The Newsagents podcast is very interesting on the BBC problems. Cui bono indeed.

It is, isn’t it? Good analysis by people with experience of the Beeb from the inside.

This is truly horrendous. What on earth is wrong with these scumbags?

I really do wish SM was more robust in terms of banning these idiots.

Yes, I listened to it this morning and they lay out some of the background figures inside the BBC, the political influence that got them there and the background to the 'independent' report very well.

The media (Murdoch and Paul Marshall etc) have vested interests in bringing the BBC down. Doesnt mean the BBC is perfect (its not and there is plenty to complain about) but there is a concerted effort to demolish it.

I appreciate it’s not nice to laugh at the bots.
But the Russian thread was v amusing.

PandoraSocks · 11/11/2025 16:52

Oh, what did I miss?

Notonthestairs · 11/11/2025 17:02

Just a Bot pretending to be a UK parent, rewriting history and then forgetting they were supposed to be from here.
And lots of discussion about what people were having for dinner. I missed a nice potato recipe.

DuncinToffee · 11/11/2025 17:22

I have a nice lemon potato one I can share but I missed Pointy's one too

Lemons belong in a G&T. In a curd. And possibly a posset.
Nowhere else.

Wow! That’s amazing. What lovely memories. My daughter is much more talented than I am and it makes me so proud to listen to her.

My musical abilities are significantly exceeded by those of our two sons as well. A cross I have to bear 😁.
