Also

It's getting fucking annoying to have our conversation constantly derailed.

We can agree on that.

I'm so very confused. Bear of Little Brain.

I can't stop laughing at the mindset that picks up random comments on other threads with metaphorical tongs and dumps them sniffily on another thread. I mean..... what the? Grin Grin

Jokes apart, I don't believe such behaviour is In The Spirit, as the phrase goes, and I hope MNHQ agree.

As soon as it's clear Reform are Just Another Political Party, then the wheels come off their bandwagon.

Those of us who have put the years in will remember the Social Democrats. Who had a similar "revolutionary" start. They even had a "gang of four" ffs.

Eventually they morphed into the Liberal Democrats with the Liberal party as was.

The parallels for a Reform-National conservative merger are plain.

DuncinToffee · 11/11/2025 08:24

It's always good to be reminded of the Tory clusterfuck but otherwise Confused

I'm so very confused. Bear of Little Brain.

It seems that a poster has wandered on to the LiW thread and posted some opposing views orother stuff that hoes against their grain. Strawberry has decided, with no proof whatsoever, that it is one of us.

@Strawberrybubblegum if you have an issue with that poster, report to MNHQ, not us.

LlttledrummergirI · 11/11/2025 08:27

It is a good reminder of what a clusterfuck thel last few years were though. So thanks for that.

I live to sing, but sadly clear rooms when I do. 🤣

That is such a great image! I have Hyacinth Bucket in mind as the dumper.

pointythings · 11/11/2025 08:34

I can knit and crochet, but my cats love to interact with any craft I try, so it's tricky.

BIossomtoes · 11/11/2025 08:34

I too would love to be able to sing. And play the saxophone. And eat fire. Sadly, it’s too late for the latter two and no amount of training can cure tone deafness.

PandoraSocks · 11/11/2025 08:35

I am also tone deaf. I am very envious of people who can sing.

BIWI · 11/11/2025 08:39

I have a reasonable voice, but nothing like my mum. She was the leading lady for years of the Leeds Amateur Operatic Society and the Headingly Amateur Operatic Society, both of whom performed at The Grand Theatre in Leeds. She was in a choir that sang with Harry Secombe on the opening credits of his Sunday show, and also had a solo spot on The Good Old Days (for those of us old enough to remember that!)

I have a huge box of photos and press cuttings from her performances, along with some fabulous photographs of her in her (beautiful) stage costumes.

BestIsWest · 11/11/2025 08:46

Wow @Biwi. Seriously impressive. As it happens, The Choral is set in Yorkshire (it’s Alan Bennett) although well before your mum’s time.

BIWI · 11/11/2025 08:49

Yes, a saw an ad for that recently - fab cast. Definitely worth looking out for.

PandoraSocks · 11/11/2025 08:57

There will be a lot of sound and fury about this, but I think it is the right thing to do.

As predicted, Mr. Brexit pretends he campaigned for Remain.

Thanks for the new thread....

Farage like the Tories before him, will seek to pass blame, they ve tried before with Brexit and they ve done similar with the 3 day week, the global financial crash.

Fwiw few businesses exporting into the EU wanted to leave, as one business owner said to me "Exporting to Lisbon is as easy as sending good to Leicester"

PickAChew · 11/11/2025 09:08

I had hoped for some genuine excitement on this revolting morning. 🤷🏻‍♀️

SerendipityJane · 11/11/2025 09:09

Fwiw few businesses exporting into the EU wanted to leave,

I have limited sympathy. In 50 years I have never seen a single indication that the Tories have ever had a concern for SMEs. However SMEs are pathologically averse to non Tory rule under the mantra that the "Tories are the party of business". Which is true - in as far as it goes. The full quote is "The Tories are the party of their own business". And to be fair at every opportunity in the past 50 years when they have had a chance, that is exactly what they have delivered.

People who vote by slogan and rosette and not by investigation and information deserve everything they get. And whatever they get, it won't be my sympathy.

And there are still Remain voting Tories who don't get it. Simple arithmetic (the sort they couldn't do) tells us this.

dontcallmelen · 11/11/2025 09:38

The one thing Tories have been consistently good at has been passing the blame since time immemorial I would have a lot more respect for them if just occasionally they owned it reflected & made some changes instead of doubling down & trying to out Reform Reform surely they must be alienating the voters who are more naturally right of centre but not raging racist.

dontcallmelen · 11/11/2025 09:51

Biwi The good old days what a blast from the past, I remember watching it was it Leonard Sachs who was the compère?
such talented posters we have on these threads love seeing all the examples of skill, my Mum was a very talented seamstress & knitter she tried her best to teach me unfortunately to no avail my brain would never master it, she did also teach me how to paint & wallpaper which I am good at also do a bit of furniture restoring love a bit of sanding & waxing. My dad’s family everyone one of them had beautiful singing voices, Dad was a Tenor I am tone deaf & another one who would clear a room.

You may have missed this gem yesterday. From which we learn that:

1. Betting shops are really good for the mental health of isolated people.
2. Most drug-takers are not a problem.
3. Kids put tuppence in slot machines in the hope of getting rich.
4. Farage probably has a gambling industry donor.

I'm a half decent singer (singing in traditional church choirs since I was about eight).

I'm in awe of all the knitting and crochet skills exhibited above though - I'm hopeless at 'crafting'.
