A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Exactly! So to a large extent it’s a straw man. No talk of reforming tax traps created by benefits either eg carers etc

The taxation system needs overhauling. The idea of people in full time work claiming certain benefits is ridiculous. If people in the lowest tax bracket were able to keep more of their wages there would be less need for benefits to top up income. It's a stupid system where you take with one hand and give back with the other. There would also be more disposable income in the economy and a better chance of people in the private sector affording a private pension.
What would also get this country moving (literally) would be to have cheap, reliable public transport. But that won't happen while the unions have a stranglehold on it and this government recently made it easier for the unions to stuff up our lives in all the ways they have wanted since Cameron pulled their teeth.

Oh and just something to give you a chuckle, I wasn't paying that much attention and whe I read Tim Davie had resigned I thought what massive political problem have I missed? then realised I had Ed Davey and Tim Davie confused!

Frankenchino · 10/11/2025 09:02

A new thread! I’ll look forward to that!

If you’re just here to rile people up you will find they won’t engage. So don’t get too excited.

TheNuthatch · 10/11/2025 09:11

Good morning 😁

Blimey, you've filled another thread! I'll get the new one sorted out for you.

I needed a little break from MN yesterday. 💙

Yep

Frankenchino · 10/11/2025 09:14

@Julen7

A lot of them have been engaging. I’m not sure why. I’ve never had so many responses, though I haven’t read them. I didn’t have time.

Hopefully this thread allows free speech?
Or is it ‘free speech for me but not for thee’.
So I’ll stay on thanks as I’m posting within Mumsnet terms and conditions.
And no you don’t have to respond to me, so I’m not sure why you have?

I suggest we all ignore the attention-seeker.

That made me laugh.
I see a lot of people like John Simpson bemoaning the "co-ordinated attack" on the BBC without acknowledging its actual recent wrongdoings.

@Julen7

Was just catching up with the latest posts on here about immigration and that being equated/twisted to the words of the crying war veteran.
I spent most of Sunday at remembrance events. No mention of ‘pesky immigrants’ in any of the services. In fact it was about uniting across faiths, cultures and beliefs.

So yes - I’ll use my right to free speech and express a view on that.

Same!! I couldn’t think who it was. Then checked and realised when I saw his slimy smirking face. Through and through commie slime ball. Who hates women. Good riddance..

Yes really glad the BBC is getting its comeuppance.

The left don't seem too happy about it, I've noticed. Speaks volumes!

As opposed to ‘The Telegraph’. No bias there of course.

@TheNuthatch

EasternStandard · 10/11/2025 09:28

The bias is incredibly systemic and institutionalised. Having listened to a top BBC personality recently give a talk I can say that editing is not a surprise at all.

The bias runs through like a stick of rock. It’s so engrained they can’t see or admit to it.

Isn’t it.. 🙃

NoWordForFluffy · 10/11/2025 09:28

I cancelled my TV licence last night. I'm done with the BBC. We only tend to watch TV on catch up anyway, as we don't have an aerial (new build, we weren't supplied with one and haven't put one in). We won't miss anything, I don't think, not really. Might even get my cross stitch cards finished more quickly! 🤣

Mantari · 10/11/2025 09:29

Isn't Davie a Tory? Hardly a commie slimeball 🤣

Frankenchino · 10/11/2025 09:29

I’d say The Telegraph is FAR, FAR more biased than the BBC…
