A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I'm so stressed I've made myself ill. Woke up today with horrendous aches and pains. Headache from hell. Barely able to do anything. I'm self employed so not what I need right now. Tested positive for covid. Feel shocking. But I think additional stress and worry not helping. As you say, should probably avoid the news.
About cats and Christmas trees, mine always climbed the artificial one. I don't like artificial ones either. Got a real one the following year and she didn't like it, so if you have a Christmas tree climbing cat, they too may avoid a real one. I think she didn't like the pine needles!

Love it.😂😂 We had to change to artificial when himself crawled out of a real one looking like he'd had a fight with a Porcupine and lost.🤣

Absolutely. A giggle and keeping informed, you can't beat it.

On a totally different note, I chose the colour for my new apartment living room. Crown Soft Linen. Can't remember who suggested Crown Hare, but it's the same shade, just a bit lighter.😁

Glad to be of service!

No idea what to do about the state of the country, but I can solve interior design conundrums! 🤣

Yes. The problem we see all over, and especially with our current gvt is that despite the fact it’s one of the most powerful jobs one could have, no required qualifications or experience is defined, or deemed necessary.

We’re just left subject to the whims of these inexperienced dim-witted morons.

We don’t accept pilots / doctors / engineers / lawyers etc without qualifications. It is so easy to become a politician. Yet they wreak so much havoc.

Totally agree. Why the hell do we allow this? I would definitely support raising the bar here, along with raising the salaries.

(Just being a nerd, but Mel Stride is a pilot as well as a former business owner 😜)

Oh bugger. Sorry you're not well, I have something too, but it's just a lightweight cold type thing. Get well soon.

I think son still has the mental scars from hanging on to him while I pulled the needles out of his face and paws. I'm not sure who was more traumatised him or the cat.

Thank you. I'm not at all surprised. My kids all had something nasty this last 2 weeks and they battled on with work. I'm amazed as when I woke up I could barely move. It's why I got a covid test as the headache was horrific. You can't avoid stuff living with kids and young adults. They bring it home. But I hate how I'm always completely floored and they seemingly manage to cope. I think covid hits me hard.

Covid is nasty when it wants to be. I hope it's short lived. Get well soon Flowers

Interesting that’s in the Independent. Whoever said it about VAT and non dom is right, some knew that before the GE.

I often find myself going to the independent. Often some very balanced commentary. Not all but some.

Absentosaur · 06/10/2025 21:44

‘The trouble is we have crossed a line in trying to encourage aspiration. The non-dom change and the VAT on school fees have sent the opposite message,’ minister tells The Independent

Crossed a line? They’re so far over the line, the line is a dot to them!

Catatemyhomework · 06/10/2025 21:50

Wish we had a laughing emoji on the react button.

Ha at this

It really is no shit Sherlock though and I’m wondering if they’re reading on here as we’ve been saying it for ages.

The Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced police will get new powers to restrict repeat protests. I have a terrible feeling about this. Is the government anticipating repeat protests over digital ID hence the urgency to impose these restrictions? I have never felt so scared and anxious with a government than I have with this one. The last time I felt like this was during the covid pandemic, but this feels even worse. I hope I'm being paranoid and that things aren't as bad as they seem.

I agree. I don't like.the idea of banning or restricting protests, however repulsive I find them. Its a slippery slope.

On the subject of cats and Christmas, these two are the reason we no longer have a real tree; there's only so much mess the carpet will take.

It is. I think it's a very calculated move by labour to limit freedom of speech, increase state control and move one step closer towards communism.

Thank you for sharing. They really are stunning. You might convert me to a cat person if you keep posting photos like that 😁. Is that Rodders at the back?
