Labour isn't working - Thread 10

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thanks for the new thread @TheNuthatch - we need it for our mental elf!

Any Waitrose shoppers Xmas slots open now 🎄 🥳 ❤️

I’ve booked a slot but no where near organised enough to identify what food we’ll need / what numbers we’ll have. TBC. I’m not a big drinker I don’t like alcohol really. Apart from Chablis, probably because it’s so dry and delicate it’s almost tasteless (ok kill me know wine connoisseurs!) . Nonetheless I’m anticipating drinking lots of it this Xmas.

I wonder too. And what additional damage will this incompetent party have inflicted on us all. Shudder.

Hopefully Lammy, Phillipson , Reeves and Starmer will be gone. That’d be the ideal situation.. Starmer has full confidence in all of the above, gotta be a sign of doom for them all. 🤞

Rivalled · 24/09/2025 12:04

I had a foray into Waitrose Christmas offers but nothing exciting so far - recall October was peak for wine offers!

Ha yes he surely has full confidence in himself, it’s a sign.

A piece with Burnham today in the Telegraph. He does manage to sound more human, but that’s not hard considering!

Finding that article re previous thread a bit ‘triggering’…

The Act of Contrition, which was the first thing I thought of having had a Catholic upbringing, is all about showing remorse and being repentant

Go to confession tell the priest your sins and say some Hail Marys and Our Fathers. The more Our Fathers the priest gives you signifies you’ve been very very bad.

So who will be getting the most Our Fathers.
Is that the high earners and workers paying for everything. Or is it those who don’t

I have a feeling we’ll all be coming out of that confessional with a lot of Our Fathers.

TheNuthatch · 24/09/2025 13:15

I had a really long commute this morning, so taking one for the team, I decided to listen to Ed Davey's conference speech (I wouldn't recommend, I nearly nodded off). There is an hour I'll never get back. What a load of drivel.

He spent virtually the whole hour banging on about Farage. A whole hour! This is the party who are always complaining that Farage gets more attention than they do, despite having only a handful of MPs etc. There was zero criticism of the government, no mention of the economy or immigration. Davey seems to think that Trump and gun laws are the most important issues we face. He is clearly eyeing up a coalition with Labour at the next GE. Does he really think that the public will go for that? Vote Lib Dem to keep Labour in power? Batshit. If that was a pitch to tories like me, he failed spectacularly.

The lib dems, and many on the left are constantly moaning about the amount of airtime given to Reform. Yet they themselves never talk about anything other than Reform and Farage.

DH has booked our Waitrose delivery slot. We’re spending a cosy afternoon next week choosing things. Exciting times 🤣

Rivalled · 24/09/2025 13:22

Yes I’m sure we’ll be looking at either a lib lab snp or Tory reform coalition unless the polls radically change….

TheNuthatch · 24/09/2025 13:23

I'm very jealous of all the Waitrose shopping. We don't have one, not posh enough round these parts 😂.

Thanks @TheNuthatch, very selfless of you. Did he manage all that without a clown act?

I'm in a Waitrose desert. I'll be slumming it with other Tesco delivery savers at 6am scrapping for a good time slot some time in November, like a savage.

Let's hope it's tories-reform.
The only thing that could make Labour even worse is adding a dollop of lib dem to the mix.

We’ve booked a day off next week to go online for an auction. I’ll tell you which one after as I don’t want any of you bidding against me for the sheep.🤣🤣. Will post pics if I get it 🙏

Exciting times it is
Anything other than listening to Ed Davey 😆, did you medicate before @TheNuthatch

A coalition wouldn't surprise me in the least. They've seen how well this sort of dirty tactics to load voting and bend results in France and Germany so I'm sure they will have a go over here to keep Farage out. It really stinks.

i’m not pre ordering - we’ve got a well set routine of dashing around m&s when they start the insane early opening hours, to bring home the bacon.

I was trying to get the dc to do a dish each this year - one of them wanted to ‘make’ pigs in blankets! She’s been assigned something sprout-y instead.
