I don't wear any either. Might just get noise cancelling earphones instead.

@BestIsWest I love that one too, but I do wear it all year round and love lemony soap and bubble bath too. I can’t wear heavy perfume as I am asthmatic and it makes me wheeze sometimes even if other people are wearing it. Christian Dior Poison used to be terrible for that when it was very fashionable.

Poison was awful. I did like Opium back in my gothy days.

Well this I good news. And here’s me being told left right and centre that Labour policies are destroying the economy…
UK will be second-fastest-growing G7 economy, IMF predicts https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn092p27xn0o

Chancellor Rachel Reeves smiles on a visit to Bury, in the northwest of England. She is wearing a navy blue suit.

UK forecast to be second-fastest growing economy in G7 - IMF

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has upgraded the rate at which the UK economy will grow this year.

DuncinToffee · 14/10/2025 14:17

Is that before or after the IMF bailout Wink

cardibach · 14/10/2025 14:25

Oh I’m sure there’s a metric somewhere that can be used to show it’s all terrible.

DuncinToffee · 14/10/2025 14:27

Well, it's second not first.....

The main talking point from the Covid Inquiry today seems to be chaos

Anyone surprised?

But the economy’s tanked. 🥴

That’s what I thought I’d heard. It’s all terribly confusing.

I expect we’re too old (and smelly) to understand.

DuncinToffee · 14/10/2025 15:14

Inflation is still very high, that will be the lines of attack.

IMF did mention Brexit uncertainty

We will be needing a new thread title soon, suggestions welcome!

There's a thread title in all this somewhere. Starmer: Old and smelling of roses

I love that. It gets my vote. 🌹

Has everyone seen the new support reaction, the flowers?

MN is not planning to bring back the laughing reaction.

Yes. I think it could be misused by idiots, but we'll see!

BIWI · 14/10/2025 15:31

I would have thought much less likely to be misused. But I’d imagine that MNHQ will be monitoring it, after all the hooha with the laughter one.

Bloody Clarkson - always thought he was a woke lefty bastard.🤣

New thread suggestion: Starmer: New smelly fragrance. Autumnal leaves.

It's onedrive that I hate.

Was that before you learned that it was now scanning faces in your uploaded photos to "help" you organise them ?

I think Clarkson is much closer to Sierra Man than any Reform types. In the same vein, I really think Basil Fawlty - despite initial impressions - would have little truck with extremists.

John Cleese has given full support for Carole Cadwalladr on xitter regarding the investigation into Forages relationship with Nathan Gill and the Russian connection bribes.

PandoraSocks · 14/10/2025 17:34

I see Edward Leigh subtly gave Badenoch/the Tories a telling off.

Edward Leigh, the Conservative father of the house, says he would like to hear the Commons united in saying they are “completely committed to creating a Palestinian state in the West Bank”. He says that is the “God-given right” of Palestinians.
Leigh is making a point about his own party, which opposed the government’s decision to recognise the state of Palestine and which only seems to show limited interest in the two-state solution.

I have met Leigh a few times. Obviously he is not my cup of tea politically, but he was always decent and polite and concerned about the mental health impact of rosacea, especially in younger people, which he has. People who don't know him make the assumption that he is a massive drinker. I always feel the need to defend him on that!
