Labour isn't working - Thread 6

TheNuthatch · 22/08/2025 15:23

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Hello - new here! I am still smarting from the nasty attack launched on me on the “slitting throats” thread. There was a group whose ideology was as clear as day and very unpleasant with it too. Hopefully here will offer more pleasant discourse!

They usually are pretty vile to anyone who disagrees with them . It's a key feature of the cult! Plus they are getting nastier the worse Labour do

LupaMoonhowl · 23/08/2025 17:01

Regarding the renters bill, I sold a rental property as soon as they were elected as was obvious they would hammer landlords, so a well maintained and reasonably priced dwelling near Green spaces and good schools is now off the rental market. The got who bought it intends to use it as a pied a terre (works abroad). I would have continued renting it out to happy tenants if Labour hasn’t got in. Also took maximum tax free from my pensions to gift yo my DC before Labour went for that too. Have put money in various trusts (investments in overseas composites) /nine of this would have occurred to me if this government hadn’t made c it clear that they b want to bleed workers and UK companies dry to give handouts to their non-working client voters.

Yes I think this is definitely a factor. I notice a distinct absence of discussion on there about how Starmer and Labour are actually doing - well we all know the answer to that one don’t we - so they are just left with spitting bile at any opposition.

EmpressoftheMundane · 23/08/2025 17:28

It’s the best of all possible worlds, dontcha know! 😉
And if it’s not, it’s all the Tories fault- 14 years, etc.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 23/08/2025 17:32

Totally missed this on Thursday, was there anything in the usual papers? Survation research showing 28% of Labour members would consider ditching them for the party with no name.

More than one in four Labour members consider joining Corbyn's new party - poll - LabourList share.google/EZUPyVlqz57tP13of

I haven't spotted it either. I saw the articles about Labour's membership dropping but not this. I can't wait to see what this new party does to the left vote.

Neil Kinnock hasn't changed has he. I note his use of the word 'comradeship' 😂.

At last, I feel like I have found my people!! I am at the end of my tether with this sham of a government. I can remember Labour governments from the 1970’s and they are always the same, but the lemmings that vote for them because their parents, grandparents, great grandparents el al voted and would turn in their grave if they voted with their own mind, for them are completely brainwashed! We’ve had 25 years of them destroying Wales and still the lemmings will vote for them 🤬
Following on from a previous post about SKS being like a Moai statue, I give you the useless cabinet too 😁

No, not at all. But his description of them as the Farage Assistant Faction seems accurate. He was spitting tacks last week about the new pr system in Wales and what that holds for the country in the wake of the senedd elections - nothing good is the short answer.

Oh really? I thought they were all in favour of the new pr system. I'll have a look for his comments on that. He seems to be positioning himself as a thorn in the side of the current gov.

"Kinnock, born and raised in south Wales and the former MP for Islwyn, was critical of the new electoral system that will be used in May.

“We’ve managed to pile on a couple of extra hurdles. It’s as if one of the racehorse owners at Aintree had decided that Becher’s Brook was not high enough or wide enough and decided to dig a canal and then put a house on top of the fence.

“We’ve introduced a proportionate voting system that guarantees that there will never again be single-party government or anything like it in the Senedd, which is a pity. That doesn’t mean I’m against PR, but this system is in my view ‘reductio ad absurdum’.”

Kinnock demands tougher response to Reform UK ahead of Senedd election - LabourList https://share.google/4R3uociGMb8OrvHVW

It's mid article after he voices concerns about reform and his concern that just demonising them won't stop the threat.

😂 The brazen cosplaying at socialism is painful.

They are all utter hypocrites. Kinnock gets millions and a guaranteed pension which is a sum which we could only dream of, Starmer has a £2 million house and passed a law to make his own pension tax free and yet they sit their pontificating to us about privilege/fairness and equity.

FUCK OFF is all I have to say to them all!

TheNuthatch · 23/08/2025 18:23

Thanks Phantom, you've saved me a job. I'll have a read.
Twisty- his son did the media rounds a few days ago. Didn't seem too happy about his Dad's interventions. (Also thanks a bloody bunch, I've had that Garage Farage song in my head all flippin afternoon 🤣).

Yes he wasn't happy with Daddy I seem to remember thinking.

I’m so pleased the topic of rabid Looney lefts has been raised. Recently, I was walking in town with some friends (middle aged women) and we walked past my MP (yup, a wet wipe Labour man) and I pointed him out. One woman (who worked in private schools for years) said “Oh Tory scum then?” I had to reply, “No Labour scum actually.” She didn’t say anything else after that but it struck me how the loonies all think everyone thinks the same as them and that they can spill their bile and expect it to positively received.

I even have a friend who works in a private school and has sent their DC to a private school and she has a sign up saying how much they hate the Tories in their house!

It’s like it’s trendy and funny to hate the Right and “open season” on them all of the time.

And this is why these threads are soooooo needed!

Oh yeh, hypocrisy is a required characteristic.
It's why I describe them as a cult; they won't allow debate or discussion ie shut it down, are complete hypocrites and just doggedly stick to the party script no matter what else evidence to the contrary.
Will be hilarious to see how they try to justify a move away from ECHR if what Blunkett suggests, happens. They will turn themselves in knots about it.

Yes! It is hypocrisy and it is like a cult. Just repeating the nonsense that they have been told by fellow loonies - almost like drones.

I am desperate to tell people to do some critical thinking for once!

I’m sure if the ECHR is suspended, they will say he’s a traitor to the cause!

Germany is looking to take away public funding to those asylum seekers who are appealling their deportations and expanding the number of safe countries that they can be deported to.
