Labour isn't working - Thread 6

1000 replies

TheNuthatch · 22/08/2025 15:23

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

There’s nothing quite like being patronised by a man after your job is there…hahaha. Although Wes wants the top job I expect.

Yes. If Streeting can hasten Ange's demise it will clear the path for him. He must be salivating 😂.

Isn't it dreadful? So tax payers can stump up £11bn to an industry that was sabotaged by Labour and in addition, we can pay higher energy bills too so that some zero carbon zealots can shine their halo.

Yep. I was fuming when the tories caved in to the pressure and upped taxes on the energy companies. They should have stood firm. Same with non doms but obviously labour were going after Mrs Sunak at the time.

It's so frustrating, isn't it? The Chagos Islands, zero carbon, chasing away the non-doms - again and again taxpayers are asked to pick up the tab to bolster fragile political egos and sentiments.

A Labour luvvie acquaintance is shocked and annoyed that the garage that serviced her car has gone out of business due to ULEZ (for those not in London it’s a tax on people with cars -and notably vans - a few years old that doesn’t affect those people who can buy new ones) and the increasing charges on small businesses.
She asked me to recommend one and I have have (another small business) but she is annoyed they can’t guarantee what the price of the service will be next year…
Well, that’s what you voted for, luv!
She has always been a civil servant - nuff said…

Andy Burnham tried to introduce a 'clean air zone' in Greater Manchester. It failed spectacularly and almost took Burnham down with it. It was pulled at the last minute, but not before thousands of trades had already replaced their vans.
Thousands of signs were erected at the time all over the region ready for implementation. They are currently being taken back down at an eye-watering cost of £600K.

Nature has no cure for this sort of madness [socialism], though I have known a legacy from a rich relative work wonders.

Why do you all feel the need to try to throw people off threads? It really isn’t the spirit of MN. Other views are allowed you know. And many of you seem to happily hang out on Labour ones.
