A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

There’s a pro Starmer / Labour one over that way

Thanks for your directions but I'm not a Labour voter. And I don't think can choose who can and can't post on this thread.

Hunt clearly wasn't expecting to have to do a budget at all, that wasn't by design. Osborne didn't have doomy budget to deliver, he used it to scrap benefit cuts.

So who's trotting out the excuses now?

Explanation does not equal excuse!

I'm inclined to agree with Angela Rayner here...

Excuse me @Tainiz ? My post is just a statement of fact.

The markets and business are in turmoil because nobody knows what is going to happen next, gilt yields are at a 30 year high, sterling is struggling, unemployment is on the rise and they are twiddling their thumbs till Christmas waiting for a hail Mary.

Osborne did a November budget and a December budget during his time.

Hunt also did a November budget.

Would madam be better served on a pro-Labour thread?

caringcarer · 03/09/2025 15:08

Everyday this dishonest Distinctions government gets worse. Now AR being dishonest and duplicitous with SDLT. RR is a disaster and seems to have no financial knowledge whatsoever. Only she could put up NIC on businesses then seem shocked so many businesses going bust and unemployment up. Both AR and RR should be sacked. Both put of their depth.

I just saw it and thought that😂😂😂😂

LupaMoonhowl · 03/09/2025 15:39

A Labour luvvie acquaintance is shocked and annoyed that the garage that serviced her car has gone out of business due to ULEZ (for those not in London it’s a tax on people with cars -and notably vans - a few years old that doesn’t affect those people who can buy new ones) and the increasing charges on small businesses.
She asked me to recommend one and I have have (another small business) but she is annoyed they can’t guarantee what the price of the service will be next year…
Well, that’s what you voted for, luv!
She has always been a civil servant - nuff said…

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 03/09/2025 15:40

The telegraph reports that Streeting believes "it would be a 'travesty' if Rayner had to resign". The vultures are circling. You can practically hear the airquotes.

Hollyohara · 03/09/2025 15:42

MarstoMinerva · 03/09/2025 12:40

On a brighter note, one would like to think that Rayner just made Reeve’s job in the November budget, a whole lot more difficult.

Let’s raise a bucket of cheap rose to that!

A bucket of cheap Rosé😂😂 We should think ourselves lucky.. It’ll be a bucket of Irn-Bru thus time next year.

LupaMoonhowl · 03/09/2025 15:44

And re Rayner -who needs a tax accountant?
When you buy a house, your solicitor tells you how much you need to pay and you pay your solicitor who sends it on to HMRC. My solicitor told me I need to pay x more because I owned another property so I just paid that to the solicitor. No need for a ‘tax accountant’ unless you need to be more creative…

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 03/09/2025 15:45

Streeting cont...

“And I think back on the first year of this Labour Government, and I think back on the first year of this Labour Government, I think back on so many of the things I’m most proud of, and so many have Angela Rayner’s fingerprints on it.”

Smells like a eulogy

Is that a direct quote from Streeting?

Ouch! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Angela.

And Keir, watch your back.. 🔪

It's subtle, it followed him saying it was an honest mistake and she's had a hard life. He's like one of those mean friends who asks in concerned tones if you are getting enough sleep. But we all know the bitch beneath the head tilt.
