A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Oh dear. Dropping like flies. A few more to go.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 03/09/2025 11:54

Can you imagine if a party member with any other colour rosette attempted to wave away a £40k tax dodge with a daily mail sad face?

Lutonsgirl · 03/09/2025 11:56

Hollyohara · 03/09/2025 10:41

It’s a late budget because they have no idea what they’re doing.

Spot on

Egg on face for all the MN fangirls who were behind over backwards to support her!

EasternStandard · 03/09/2025 12:01

The usual Labour posters were adamant nothing was wrong there. How disappointing for the supporters.

Hope she goes.

NoWordForFluffy · 03/09/2025 12:02

Jinx, @EasternStandard!

Some of them still defending her on here and saying she has been “honest” (ahem) - but to be fair not all. My first thought was how can she be so stupid? Or is it arrogance when you think you are above ordinary people and the rules don’t apply?

I don't know - I doubt it. Rule one of being a Labour supporter is that alliegence trumps the burning shame of hypocrisy.

1457bloom · 03/09/2025 12:09

Angela Rayner the tax dodger, how did she think she could get away with it!

Of course. Some won’t budge for anything on Labour.

I’m not sure she can last.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 03/09/2025 12:15

Can we really have a deputy pm who claims to have been hoodwinked by a tax accountant and never stopped to think, 'you know what, this seems a bit strange and not in the spirit of things, maybe I should get another opinion?'

As most of us might think if the situation was a bit complex.

Arrearing50 · 03/09/2025 12:26

Of course we can @ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera despite some of them having decent degrees we’ve hardly got a cabinet of all of the talents here have we?

Arrearing50 · 03/09/2025 12:26

All of the talents for fronting it out maybe.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 03/09/2025 12:34

If her life is so complex that she can't keep on top of her financial affairs without a modicum of curiosity to determine that she isn't short changing the treasury out of £40k, then what else is she letting slip by her in a haze of nodding passivity at the sharp end of governing a country?

MarstoMinerva · 03/09/2025 12:34

Those same rules of the street, that saw her, pregnant at 16, as a school drop out, that helped her with the unions, that put her at the heart of government.

Well, it seems that our Ange is unable to leave them behind…

Yes, that’s what’s so surprising about this government. If you think of Blair’s years there were some very talented politicians in government. I may have disagreed with them, but I’d acknowledge their intelligence and political skill.

From Starmer down this lot are absolutely hopeless (maybe Cooper and Streeting excepted). I thought this at the time of the election and said so on here soon after July 4. Blimey! The fawning by Labour MNers over Starmer, Reeves, Lammy, Phillipson and Haigh…

It’s Starmer that stands out the most as being useless. He should be good at speaking. He’s not. He should have an agile mind. He doesn’t. He should be considered and resolute. He’s neither, he’s just a Labour lawyer drone.

Agree although Cooper is hopeless too.

MarstoMinerva · 03/09/2025 12:40

On a brighter note, one would like to think that Rayner just made Reeve’s job in the November budget, a whole lot more difficult.

Let’s raise a bucket of cheap rose to that!

Arrearing50 · 03/09/2025 12:42

Completely agree @DenizenOfAisleOfShame - I wonder what it says about our civil service too that Starmer could get to head public prosecutions?

i saw his pedigree and I thought - he must be smart and competent…

I agree with Paul Johnson, one of the reasons we don’t have talent in public life is that we aren’t paying close to what people can command in the private sector…

even the civil servants were more talented in new labour days…

Indeed.

MarstoMinerva · 03/09/2025 12:52

Reeves is going for a 26 November budget.

FUNNY THAT….

What a total joke this lot are.

More uncertainty, more market volatility, more time for further fuck ups.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 03/09/2025 13:01

I saw a tweet yesterday about how the US people should refer to what’s happening in America. Rather than say it’s Trump’s fault, rational minded people need to point the finger and say those that voted for Trump are the cause for the all the bad things he’s doing. They voted for him, they should take the responsibility. He’s never lied about who and what he is.

This is the same with the Labour government. Yes they are screwing this country over big time but anyone with a modicum of intelligence knew this would happen so it’s the people who voted for this shite who are responsible.

Back to Ange, not sure if I do want her to go or not. I despise her but at the same time she is so damaging for the Labour Party, it might be worth her staying so really ensure they don’t get a second term.

A valid point - she’s a useful idiot.

Perhaps it would be better if she remains on the pitch. (Starmer loves a footie reference). Let’s hope she gets red-carded later.
