What’s the most controversial opinion you hold?

Do you want to share any opinions you have that are (or may be) seen as controversial?

Mine are probably around the severity of criminal punishment the courts should be giving out for certain crimes and what kids should do in the event of physical violence from peers. Both subjects can be quite provoking for others.

What are yours?

Women don’t have penises. Ever.

I EBF my DC but... I find breastfeeding past 3yo unnecessary in todays world 😬

Mashed potatoes are disgusting.

I find people breastfeeding past the age of 6 months unnecessary.
People get very annoyed by that one!

Women are in fact better at driving and parking than men.

Can I ask why? Not having a go, just genuinely curious! I can kind of see an argument for stopping at a year, but not sure I understand the six month cut off!

Having a pet animal living with you in your home is weird. I love animals, I really do, but I believe they should live outdoors. I’ve never met anyone who agrees.

I was thinking the same. Stopping would mean introducing formula which is fine if someone wants to but automatically stopping at 6 months and introducing formula if you otherwise wouldn't is a bit odd.

That severe/profound autism should havea completely separate diagnosis to general autism (again).

My controversial opinion is that people who think there should be an arbitrary age limit on breastfeeding (that bears no relation to the recommended guidelines across the WHO) do so because they find it impossible to separate in their minds from a sexual act, otherwise why would it matter? 😂

After working nearly 40 years in the welfare/benefits sector I can say that there’s a significant proportion of people for whom not working is a choice. There are families where they are on to second generation of non-workers. Very sad to see, and it definitely grinds you down dealing with how entrenched it is.

Degrees aren't easier than they used to be, they are just more accessible for poor people. Now that they aren't exclusive to the rich, they try to devalue the achievement and claim the degree is given away. It would be unfathomable for them to accept that poor people are just as clever as they are, but lack opportunities.

I was going to say “women don’t have penises” was my most controversial. But on reading the above I guess it might be “I breastfed my son until he was nearly 5 and I don’t think that it is a particularly big deal.”

If you commit a crime in the UK then you should be deported to the country of your origin, there are over ten thousand foreign nationals in prison here so that would free up some room!

That unless there is abuse in a marriage (including cheating as that is emotional abuse) that parents should do their best to stay together. It is too devastating to the children, both the split and then having to play second fiddle to a new partner/stepdc after.

Just 'feeling unhappy' when there is no defined reason can often successfully resolve over time and with effort from both sides.

Prisons are absolutely useless and benefit very few people in the long run, it just causes further damage and trauma.

People with mild anxiety and depression (ie able to work, able to socialise to a reasonably normal extent) get little realistic benefit from a low dose SSRI other than placebo. We should be aiming for prevention and support rather than masking it.

Putting people in psychiatric hospitals does very little to help either, it’s mostly just state sponsored supervision.

If you eat an animal you should be able to watch it being slaughtered as well.

If you have plenty of children make sure you can give them a good life (providing for them financially but also time wise- one sahp atleast)

Controversial opinion - it wouldn't really be all that bad a thing if we did completely fuck up the climate and the human population collapsed. Biodiversity will bounce back in a few million years at most.

I think all paedos should be gassed. Actually most agree with me on that one 😂

That I'm sick of hearing about wars around the world. They can blow each other away for all I care.
