What’s the most controversial opinion you hold?

Do you want to share any opinions you have that are (or may be) seen as controversial?

Mine are probably around the severity of criminal punishment the courts should be giving out for certain crimes and what kids should do in the event of physical violence from peers. Both subjects can be quite provoking for others.

What are yours?

Every man I have ever met who says it's his favourite film has been an insufferable twat who mansplains everything. No idea why, but it's just something I've noticed over many years, and my theory hasn't been proved wrong yet.

Never met a woman who says its her favourite film so I couldn't comment on that.

Its my favourite film. And one of my favourite books as well

EnjoythemoneyJane · 28/06/2025 20:36

😂 I can see I was a bit late to the ‘gassing paedos’ bit of the thread …

That ‘trans’ is an autism presentation. See also: anorexia, personality disorders.

I judge women that have kids with more than one man sorry but I just can’t help it! You don’t have to have kids with everyone you meet.

Do you also judge the men who run round behaving like contraception is a dirty word and then piss off when, surprise surprise, the woman gets pregnant?

scalt · 28/06/2025 20:38

Nobody should become an MP without having worked minimum wage in something for a year, preferably in a public-facing role.

Lockdowns, and the campaign of fear did much more harm than good. This is a hill I will die on.

I think people need to talk more openly about serious illness and the fact that it’s just a part of life. Not talking about the daily mail doom and gloom article type stuff but I think as a society there is such a taboo around illness, particularly cancer, that when it inevitably happens to someone you know, it feels like an automatic death sentence.

This is a good one.

Particularly childhood cancer. No one wants to think about their child getting cancer and it isn't as rare as some people might think.

Any that mean they can bite you when they are feeding!

Ouch.

I remember my gummy newborn baby causing me a world more pain, when neither of us knew what we were doing, than she ever did when she was an old pro with a mouthful of teeth and I was feeding her while carrying on with my day

That I'm sick of hearing about wars around the world. They can blow each other away for all I care.

Wow. Just wow.
What a lovely, compassionate person you must be.

It's a great film, and the book is great too.

I don't have anything against it at all.

I've just met probably 40/50 guys over the last 30 years who have said its their favourite film, and they have all been absolute arseholes.

It's not a rational POV but that's why it's my controversial opinion.

Confuuzed · 28/06/2025 20:40

Breastfeeding isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. Just feed your baby and get on with your life, whatever way that works for you.

Tippexy · 28/06/2025 20:40

Pricelessadvice · 28/06/2025 20:26

I just think that once they are eating solids, breastfeeding is sort of redundant. Though I appreciate some babies may take a bit longer.
I think after 1 year is definitely the absolute cut off.

Mares generally start kicking their foals off them once they get fed up of them and they are able to eat.
Though I’m not suggesting we start kicking babies 🤣

Oh, I can tell you haven’t experienced introducing solids to a baby before. Or understand how it works. Your opinion is incorrect because you don’t have/understand all the information 😄

VaddaABeetch · 28/06/2025 20:40

Humans cannot change sex

you can’t be born in the wrong body , you are your body

Theres no such thing as gender.

I judge men as well but for a woman it is worse imo and you don’t have to sleep with a man that refuses to use anything.

Autism and adhd can be trauma presentations

IVF shouldn't be NHS funded. Infertility is not an illness.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 28/06/2025 20:41

That puppies should not be kept in crates/cages. It is bad for their physical and mental development.

MadameTwoSwords · 28/06/2025 20:42

Tartare sauce is utterly disgusting.

Neither are broken arms.

What if the infertility is a symptom of an illness?

The NHS shouldn't be free for most people.

I agree. It’s clear that it’s on a downward spiral. Difficult decisions (such as a fee to see a gp or go to A&E) should be made before Farage gets his corrupt little paws on it.

HornyHornersPinger · 28/06/2025 20:43

That we can't afford to keep people in prison for life nowadays so child murderers like Sara Sharif's Dad, Baby P's Mum and ALL the others should be executed. Also paedophiles should castrated.

A while ago, on a similar thread, I posted my controversial opinion, and my post was promptly deleted by admin. So, I guess I'll stay quiet. It's the "mum" part of Mumsnet.😶

Edited

Can’t you give us a clue?
