Anyone else appalled and shocked at Dawn French's social media video mocking the reaction to the terror attack in Israel on Oct 6th. What on earth was she thinking ? She comes across as horrible and lacking in any empathy. I feel sorry for the innocent people on both sides of this war, in Palestine and in Israel.

Why are you being so agressive? You asked what do people think would happen if it was the other way around. I was giving an example of someone who was grossly offensive and had no consequences. That's what happens the other way around.

I personally don’t think anyone should be cancelled or censored. I believe in freedom of speech no excuses. I may be offended or not like what someone says but they have a right to say it. I also think everyone has the right to cut ties with that person if they are upset. I think what she posted was awful, badly thought out and ignorant. I also felt personally offended. But that’s my issue. I don’t think she should be cancelled.

She is still working, she hasn't been cancelled like people on this thread are hoping will happen to French, nothing happened. I have always like Dawn. I always say to people ( before this awful performance of hers ) that I remember her on The Young Ones Comedy with Rik Mayall and gang … she was an Easter bunny and randomly appears giving out Easter eggs and Vivian says “but it’s not Easter “ and she replies “isn’t it ? … oh “… and starts to collect them up again and hops off … as a teen I remember laughing so much .. found her very funny through the years .. (you get the picture. )… Her video on instagram has had me so upset, i just cannot get my head around it all. I’m devastated at all the devastation of the mocking tone about the mass murder of all those poor Jewish people, men women children … honestly I can’t hardly write anymore. I keep feeling nauseas when I think about it all and I had to walk away when hubby watched it on his big screen computer after I had told him about it. What happened to thinking of all the innocence on both sides ? What happened to “be kind “ what happened ? Dawn French ? Just can’t process it

No - she used a whining baby voice to refer to the rapes murders and torture of October 7th as “a bad thing” . The choice of words and babyish tone of voice was a way of minimising Hamas’ terror and mocking the suffering of Israelis.

I agree. Her post- words , tone and message - is so vile and disgusting that I am shocked some people on here are saying she shouldn’t have to apologise as she said nothing wrong.

So what was done to stop the mass murder? That wasn't why the second world war was fought. And the fact that concentration (death) camps existed was an open secret. They weren't just discovered for the first time at the end of the war.

I truly believe that the world would stand back and watch the same thing happen to the Jews again. Like it's ignoring the genocide in Sudan. People value their stereotypes, they enjoy their trips to luxury resorts in countries that sponsor mass murder. Not many protests against the UAE government sponsoring the RSF are there? No Dawn Frenches with Sudanese flags on their "look at me" social media pages. Why?

You're probably right the world would stand back if there is nothing to gain. If money is to be gained from their involvement then they will get involved. I found an old photo of a newspaper article of the late queen when she was a child doing a nazi salute. I bravely posted it in the royal family section on Mumsnet most of the posters became defensive obviously. Was Philip squeaky clean never said a racist remark in his life? No he wasn't and yes he did say things that are racist. if she’s loving Gary linker, I know someone who’s son was a photographer for celebs .. according to her he said .. the most unpleasant was him and the loveliest Prince William. This was before Oct 7th that she told me. IMHO he was right from the looks of things.

Of course Prince William is lovely he has everything to gain and not have to say a thing. Who in their right mind will give up all that wealth to have an opinion. Money talks bullshit walks. what are you suggesting here? The Jewish people trapped in death camps didn’t want nor expect help from those that liberated the camps because, “yah know, that’s not what this war is about anyway”? …funny, because NONE of the Jewish people said they didn’t want to be liberated of a Nazi order.
