Anyone else appalled and shocked at Dawn French's social media video mocking the reaction to the terror attack in Israel on Oct 6th. What on earth was she thinking ? She comes across as horrible and lacking in any empathy. I feel sorry for the innocent people on both sides of this war, in Palestine and in Israel.

Yeah it was pretty disgusting tbh, murdering 1200 people isn’t “a bad thing” (whingy voice). I doubt she would have been so dismissive of any other terroro attack. You can be deeply concerned about Palestinians and the actions of the Israeli government without being so utterly morally depraved.

Freysimo · 07/06/2025 07:41

I've seen it, totally vile. I can't imagine why she thought it was a good idea to post this, mocking the atrocities on October 7.

Nant90 · 07/06/2025 07:42

Yes, it's an awful video and I can't believe that she made it in the first place or that she hasn't now taken it down. The voice she uses to convey what she sees as the Israeli side is horrendous.

Cocolapew · 07/06/2025 07:44

It's repulsive, what on earth was she thinking?

SlipperyLizard · 07/06/2025 07:45

It is grim, diminishing an horrific anti semitic terror attack as a “bad thing”. You can be concerned for innocent people in Gaza without suggesting that Israel started it for no reason.

CatsWee · 07/06/2025 07:45

Truly disgusting.

JulesJules · 07/06/2025 07:47

Agree OP. Absolutely appalling, wtf was she thinking.

EleanorReally · 07/06/2025 07:48

what on earth is she saying?

EleanorReally · 07/06/2025 07:48

i mean I have seen it but still dont understand it

MiloMinderbinder925 · 07/06/2025 07:49

October 7th...

EleanorReally · 07/06/2025 07:51

i think she is trying to say No to starving the children

TheSalmonMousse · 07/06/2025 07:51

It's really weird and nasty. Does she have substance issues or is declining mentally? She doesn't strike me as someone who has been offensive in the past. Christ knows what she is thinking.

EleanorReally · 07/06/2025 07:51

she is no authority

Rafting2022 · 07/06/2025 07:54

I’ve never liked Dawn French or found her funny. Love Jennifer Saunders though so always thought I must be missing something if she could put up with her.

TheyreLikeUsButRichAndThin · 07/06/2025 07:57

She’s been completely unfunny for the last few years IMO. This is obviously next level!

Starlight7080 · 07/06/2025 07:59

I think it's been taken in a way she didn't intend . It seemed like she was saying no to starving children.
She has always been someone who does good and never cruel . But obviously as she is doing it in her slightly odd way instead of just talking. It can be taken in other ways .

wrongthinker · 07/06/2025 07:59

Utterly repulsive thing to say. But I think a certain kind of middle class lefty is oblivious to anything but the narrative they're fed by the media. They don't even register that Oct 7th was a massacre unlike anything seen since ww2. They certainly don't notice their own anti-semitism.

Dawn French's words are reprehensible but she's hardly alone. Sadly.

Doggymummar · 07/06/2025 08:00

I've not seen it, but could it be AI? Sounds very out of character

She didn't intend to be dismissive, insulting and racist about the victims of oct 7th, the women who were brutally raped, babies killed in front of their families, people beheaded and their bodies violated, and Palestinians videoing it all so their families could cheer them on?

Oh well that's okay then.

It’s not AI
She’s been trying to defend it - the video is still up there

Apologies - Oct 7th.

I don't understand why she posted this. It's really upsetting. What other terrorist attack would be spoken about like this?

The whole point is words matter so much. It is not OK to make it sound like Oct 7th was just 'a bad thing'. It was extreme violence by hamas. It was a targeted mass killing and abduction of Jews, including babies and elderly, by a hamas a terrorist group.

She's been offensive in the past, one of her books was littered with the word 'mong.' I chose not to read anything of hers again. Of all the insults she could've chosen, she chose that, says a lot really.

KateShugakIsALegend · 07/06/2025 08:19

Very poor judgement on her part.
