I actually use the rinse which irrigates the sinuses and helps get everything out. You can get it on Amazon, but I buy it at Costco, in-store, and it's much cheaper in price. When I'm sick/have sinus infection, I actually do several in succession when needed. Just make sure the water has been freshly boiled and cooled. The ideal temp for me is cooled to 38c. I also do one morning/night during allergy season, or as needed.

Daily Project round 7
WinterFrogs · 30/03/2025 08:45

Morning all! That looks interesting @Mumtobabyhavoc
How are we all this sunny Sunday? I am sitting up in bed with a coffee and a bar of chocolate empty wrapper.
I have had MD plans made for me but I don't know what they are. Just that I'm to be ready to be picked up at ten. All very cloak and dagger 😎
I have concluded from looking at my larder that we would survive for a few weeks living on kidney beans and sardines. Have matches, a wind up radio and a head torch too.
I might give the larder a bit of a sort out at some point today. That can be my project.
Did you find project 333 @Peridot1?
I had a rummage through my clothes and put together a couple of outfits which I'm pleased about. Saves the shopping trip I was expecting to have to do this week.

Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day to all. Even if it’s not officially your Mother’s Day depending on location have an extra one! You all deserve it! DS presented me with a funny card, some chocolates and most importantly submitted to a hug.

@WinterFrogs - thanks for the link. I will have a look later.

Beautiful sunny morning here. Am in cleaning up after the night before mode. Dishwasher is on. Another load to go. Then I will revel in a clean and tidy living space. For today at least!

Will put some washing on. Might have a go at emptying some pots on the patio ready to plant up in a couple of weeks. Also want to re-jig the plants in the raised beds at the edge of the patio. It’s a bit of a mish mash and I’d like a bit more cohesion.

petalpower · 30/03/2025 14:44

Happy Mother’s Day to all! I’m not really projecteering today as it’s also DS’s birthday (he’s 25 so no party bags to organise or bouncy castles!) so we’re having a nice family day . DD cooked a full English for us all and we’re having a roast later and a few glasses of wine with any luck. My mum died 18 years ago and my stepmother has dementia so it’s a bit of a bittersweet day but the sun is shining and it’s a beautiful spring day.

RunningKatie · 30/03/2025 16:34

Happy mothers day to everyone celebrating. DH has been hospital visiting, the dc have had a lazy day and I've eaten cheese scones and drunk coffee!
Tonight am hoping we can get a takeaway that might cater to all the requirements. Pizza it is then.
The sun is shining here, although it's windy so my washing keeps blowing over. I'm determined to get it all done before next weekend as I'm leaving the country, dh, dc and ddog taking a little break!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/03/2025 16:41

Good morning everyone 🌤️.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mum's here. 💐
(ours is in May)
I hope everyone is having a good day. 💕
Popping out with dc shortly, so tasks to be done later.

WinterFrogs · 31/03/2025 08:28

Morning all! Another beautiful one 🌞 March has been very springy. I wonder what April holds!
I have a busy day but I intends to get some semblence of a flylady home blah done. Hoover, change bed, wipe down mirrors, bins, quick dust, gather up bits of old post that can be binned, mop hard floors.
I will attempt a menu plan too.
Welcome to the new week :)

hello! @SingleThreadJoiner glad to hear he was in and out quickly - you hear of very long waits, so that was speedy.
Today

  • pay parking fine - DONE
  • pilates class - DONE
  • floordrobe - DONE
  • check what paint we have in the shed to do touch ups in hall/bedroom
  • order additional sheets of sanding paper
  • hoover kitchen walls as I can see cobwebs in a few spots
  • on SpiritDoggo walking duty today, so will try and get her out later
  • give the bathroom the once over in and around meetings today - the floor is looking a bit grim - the never ending sand...
There are a lot more tasks bubbling up in my brain for today, but I best do some work 😄, have a good one, SoE
SingleThreadJoiner · 31/03/2025 10:20

Thanks all for the moral support, I feel like we are emerging from the trenches! I'm enjoying reading about everyone's lovely spring weekends. Our main mothering Sunday adventure was taking the bus rather than the car to D's morning activity due to a complicated combination of unexpectednesses, luckily she loved it and got to sit on the top level.

My main project at the moment - which is stretching over several days - is to empty a storage box in my office, so I can repurpose it for D's ever increasing Legos 😆

Oh and I made burgers last night, quite simple mix so D wouldn't be put off, but very tasty and satisfying!

Happy Monday!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/03/2025 19:10

My task today was a thorough vacuum after bits of pancakes ended up everywhere. I flipped up the couch cushions and vacuumed there as well. It was badly in need of vacuuming in all the crevices even though I do it fairly regularly. 🤷‍♀️
Also, I need to go to pay some city taxes in person shortly. I had forgotten about this and today is the deadline.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 31/03/2025 19:16

Evening all. Sorry, dropped off the thread a bit. Totally lurgy-ridden house but we all seem better today.

Today i watered the garden and pots and made a mental note to make written notes about garden projects. Smile

Hope everyone is well. Thanks

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/04/2025 04:43

Nice to see you back, Lobelia. Sorry to hear about everyone being sick! I'm just about over it now after 2 weeks, so i can sympathize. 😷

Had to vacuum again this evening before steam mopping floors as there were crumbs etc everywhere again. 🤦‍♀️ Steam cleaned entrance area rug and the couch that everyone seems to gravitate to. Must do laundry tomorrow before heading out.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 01/04/2025 16:37

Thnaks @Mumtobabyhavoc

Much better now but still a bit fatigued. Even had a nap today!

I am off tomorrow for an overnight stay in Oxford. Booked way back in December on a whim. I am on my own and will see a friend for lunch maybe if she can manage it but otherwise will be in tourist mode. Cannot wait.

REALLY looking forward to the Easter holidays starting on Thursday!

Best wishes to all. Thanks

RunningKatie · 01/04/2025 18:09

A nap sounds lovely @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia - hope you are feeling better and enjoy your time in Oxford.
We've been out on jaunts today and yesterday, places aren't busy as all the councils around us are still in school. The dc have requested a quieter day tomorrow.
Yesterday I finished up a pot of body lotion, so only another eleventy billion pots to go. Feels like an ongoing project in itself.

Peridot1 · 02/04/2025 16:07

Hello all.

Hope all sick people are on the mend.

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia - I drove sort of close to Oxford today! Hope you have a lovely time.

I have just been up to the north west to visit MIL who is in a nursing home. Hadn’t seen her since July. It was nice to see her. She was a lot better than I was expecting. Apparently some days she is a bit all over the place. Her latest thought apparently is to start fostering. She is almost 88. And in a nursing home. 🙄 I think she just wants to be at home but knows she can’t be on her own.

Anyway… I had a nice couple of nights away on my own and caught up with MIL’s two nieces and a nephew and caught up on all the news.

Also managed a bit of shopping….

Home now and some jobs will need to be tackled and some lists made tomorrow when normal service will resume.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/04/2025 05:13

Peridot, sounds lime a good visit. 😊

I've come to the conclusion that I need to do laundry every 2nd day to stay on top if it. Got up yesterday and almost immediately put a load on of my pj's with baby's clothes. This morning was towels/washcloths in a hot bleach wash. Got home today with dc after an afternoon sledding, made dinner and put Havoc's clothes on to wash. Have now been to Costco, put groceries away, had a bath and gave baby a bath. 🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱

WinterFrogs · 03/04/2025 11:34

Hello! @Mumtobabyhavoc we put a wash on almost every day - without two small children! There was always a mountain in years gone by in our house.
I hope you had a lovely time in Oxford @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia!
I hope all the children will or are enjoying the holidays. Our local ones finish tomorrow.

@Peridot1 I know you are a reader - can I recommend 'Contented Dementia' by Oliver James? It might help explain the fostering thing. It was recommended to me when I was working with people with dementia. I'm glad you had a nice trip away 💐

I'm looking at my dining room which has a build up of dust, so that's today's project. And some clothes to put away, and then I might spend half an hour doing something in the garden.
Have a good day everyone!

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 03/04/2025 12:34

@WinterFrogs - thanks for that book recommendation. I will definitely have a look. She doesn’t have a diagnosis of dementia as yet and certainly with me the other day she was pretty much fine. But apparently she has days where she is pretty confused. And I know from my own mother that that can happen. Years ago she rented a room out to a trainee teacher and I think she is sort of confusing the fostering aspect. She knows she can’t live at home alone. And doesn’t want to.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I do laundry most days too. Three adults. It adds up quickly!

RunningKatie · 03/04/2025 14:34

Sledding? @Mumtobabyhavoc - wow, we've got glorious blue skies although breezy, it's such a nice first week of the Easter break.
Sorted bank stuff today and booked a bulk waste collection. First date is the end of the month. So we may be overrun with sofas for a week or we may be on camp chairs. It's a bit of new sofa roulette!
DFIL is now being treated as a bed blocker, they've stopped all treatment and he's being moved to a nursing home for end of life. It's all a bit rushed, various nurses loudly saying he's going home tomorrow. Except he's not, because it's not safe, but the left hand and the right hand don't seem to be in sync. DH is stressing but hopefully it's all going to be sorted and the move when it happens will be smooth.

WinterFrogs · 03/04/2025 15:32

Hi @Peridot1 my mum is not diagnosed either, but is very much showing signs. She's deemed to have mental capacity, which is a thread in itself. Have you lurked on the elderly parents forum?
Hugs to you and your family @RunningKatie I was on a thread on elderly parents called 'Where do we go from here' where the OP was in a similar situation. My own mum is thriving in a nursing home, but poor OP and her family were on a helluva rollercoaster. Hospital is very chaotic and I hope he finds peace in the home 💐

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/04/2025 16:44

Katie, it's definitely spring here, too, but we have three local ski hills that close mid-April. It's about 5c+ colder up there so they often get snow when we're getting rain below in spring. We're lucky here in Vancouver, and love to brag, that you can go skiing in the morning and golfing in the afternoon. I was passing mountain bikers as I drove down and several runners as I drove home, too.

I will do more laundry today and put away the clothes from yesterday. Have a fair bit of admin and need to get tax docs in order. I might tackle filing it myself as previously mused about. 🙄
I share sympathy re parents with dementia. My mum is in that club, too. Looking back, I can see subtle/not so subtle signs going back years. Positive diagnosis was about 7 years ago.

I'm just finishing a coffee then will rush to get dc to school for the morning. Off to the races...

Peridot1 · 03/04/2025 17:08

@RunningKatie - that sounds really stressful re FIL. The left hand doesn’t seem to know what the right hand is doing so often when it comes to elderly care in hospitals. MIL has been a bed blocker a few times. As was my mum. But sometimes it’s unavoidable.

@WinterFrogs - to be honest I haven’t really looked into the Elderly Parents board too much in relation to MIL as although I refer to her as MIL DH doesn’t really have a relationship with her. She is his step mother and he was an adult when his now deceased father married her. She has nieces and a nephew who are doing the organising and sorting. On niece and her husband have POA. It’s difficult really. I basically try to be a listening ear for her niece who is also looking after her own mum with dementia full time. But I don’t feel it’s my place to do much more. DH has his reasons for feeling the way he does.

WinterFrogs · 03/04/2025 17:44

@Peridot1 understood 💕 I have a slightly difficult relationship with my mother, and DH is NC with his, so I hear you! ( Not a chance I'd have looked after my previous inlaws either!) Families are very complex, aren't they? You sound like a lovely Aunt! Great aunt?

OP posts:
SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 03/04/2025 18:47

Family dynamics can be so so difficult. Thanks

Aria999 · 03/04/2025 21:20

Just tried to edit my post after previewing, and it vanished!

I submitted/ posted all the tax returns today and put more laundry on (it does pile up, every 2 days is probably what it ideally needs!)

this week my main project is ongoing cellar tidying and mold cleaning. The mold had got at a box of emergency loo rolls we acquired during the pandemic, not pretty!
