Should the victims/their families of the PO scandal kill senior executives? What about victims of the blood scandal?

TinkerTiger · 25/12/2024 23:42

Radishknot · 25/12/2024 23:07

Well it wasn’t judged as ok since she went to jail for 4 yrs…we either have a justice system or we don’t.

fingers crossed Luigi can be out in 4, if he’s even proven to be the one that did it 🥰

Radishknot · 25/12/2024 23:45

I think that’s unlikely, they will throw everything at him.

Simonjt · 26/12/2024 10:52

It seems Luigu support, or anger at the situation is spreading, I went on a long run this morning and in Stockholm there were Luigi posters in some places, I also noticed a clothes shop had changed their mannequins to his court outfit, h&m too, so may get in trouble.

No Sweden

The world has watched the most affluent country in the world kill off it's poorest needlessly in the name of profit for decades. It isn't particularly weird that they are finding a way to support someone who apposes this. No weirder than buying something with the person you think is cool is selling on an advert.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/12/2024 12:30

Can’t believe people here are basically justifying murder.

Are you talking about the American healthcare system?

DonnaGiovanna · 26/12/2024 12:58

I bet Luigi is familiar with the trolley problem.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/12/2024 12:58

No, this thread.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/12/2024 12:58

No, this thread.

So what do you call making people pay insurance for a life saving service they can't claim that means they die? These are not hugely complicated topics. The richest country in the world lets the richest kill off the poorest for profit. You don't think that is murder?

Boredlass · 26/12/2024 13:07

The people wanting him freed are probably the same ones who say ‘eat the rich’. Pathetic from grown adults.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/12/2024 13:08

Oh, I agree, the American system is terrible.

You can’t just shoot someone because of that.

So they can just carry on killing millions because they are rich and it isn't with a gun?

The American system is wrong. Shooting someone is wrong.
Both statements are true.

I don't disagree, but this is why it happening in reverse, once, is being talked about. It has only happened once. The system is unbalanced and the poor/average American cannot voice this in any way to get the richest to listen and actually hear them. He was pushed to the extreme to show why someone else deciding if you live or die hurts.

It is weird to deify a murderer, yes especially a rich, privileged one whose family have most likely actively profited from the American healthcare system via their Assisted Living facilities at the expense of both residents and staff , and I doubt that’s the full extent of their unscrupulous business practices but apparently neither Mangione or his supporters care to look into that because it’s a little too close to home, that money sent him to his prestigious private school and rather conflicts with their hero worship.

And it’s all very well advocating murder until they come for someone on your side. The same rhetoric has been used to excuse the murder of Doctors providing abortions, anti racism activists, whistleblowers and many others who Luigi’s defenders would see as good people. Do you advocate for those murders too knowing that their killers were probably every bit as driven and sincere in their belief that it was done for the greater good as your “hero”? Or is killing only allowed when their beliefs align with yours?

I fail to see what changes have been made as a result of this? There absolutely needs to be huge changes to the healthcare system in America but I don’t see this changing anything. And as much as change is necessary they’d have to be crazy to make changes now because they’d be rewarding and incentivising murder.

Ladybyrd · 26/12/2024 13:21

If he'd gone with his first plan of building a bomb, I suspect people may feel differently. However, we benefit from universal healthcare. They don't. People have watched family members die from treatable conditions they were covered for while CEOs are paid millions of dollars. I don't think you can say how you'd feel unless that's happened to you, but I imagine most people would be fairly pissed off, not to mention the fact that so many have a life of poverty hanging over their head in the event that they should one day get sick.

I don't think dressing mannequins up is " deify a murderer".
He is highlighting a social change that is needed (as many famous people have done before him) by using the same outcome (death) to highlight the disparity. I'm not condoning it, but I understand why.

Begsthequestion · 26/12/2024 13:22

I can understand it completely.

The man he shot was making millions of dollars from ensuring the preventable deaths of thousands of poor people.

It's class war, on both sides.

AllPlayedOut · 26/12/2024 13:22

He was pushed to the extreme to show why someone else deciding if you live or die hurts.

Who or what pushed him to the extreme? His injury? He’s a man from a very wealthy and influential family who grew up in privilege and was in no danger of going without healthcare.

There’s so much more that he could have done to use his family’s wealth and influence to try to bring about real change if he genuinely cared about your average person who doesn’t have all of the luxuries that he’s been provided with but then that would take more effort than shooting someone.

NordicwithTeen · 26/12/2024 13:24

Go on then, what else could he have done? What have others done that have changed this particular system that hurts the majority of the country?
