Where is my friend? getting worried now

Friend coming to stay and said she'd be here about 11am so we could have lunch together. Still no sign of her.

Her DP just texted me about 2.45pm and asked if she'd got here safely as she wasn't answering texts and usually drops him a quick text after long drives to let him now she's turned up. He said she left at 9.30am which is right as it's about an hour and a half. I sent her a text about 12.30 along the lines of don't worry about running late I can hold lunch see you in a bit - no reply.

I've looked at her route on google maps - no traffic holdups that I can see. Not yet replied to her DP - will have to say she's not arrived... luckily he's not the type to panic but he will be concerned obviously.

talk me down I'm imagining all sorts of awful things. I wouldn't worry about an hour or even 2 hours at a push but 4 hours late with no communication is concerning especially as I know she left on time and she's usually really reliable give or take 20 minutes

I'd be worried too. I hope she's ok 🙏

CatsLikeBoxes · 16/11/2024 15:10

Have you tried ringing her, to see if her phone is on? Or can you tell if your message has been delivered ok? It is natural to worry if you know she set off on time.

Havalona · 16/11/2024 15:10

Anyone would be a little (or very) concerned in these circumstances.

It's not like the usual threads about wayward partners going on the lash and not coming home until morning or something.

I think I'd give it another half an hour and then tell her DH. See what he advises.

needhelpwiththisplease · 16/11/2024 15:11

Is she driving on main or country roads?

needhelpwiththisplease · 16/11/2024 15:12

Can someone track her phone?

exhaustedpigeon101 · 16/11/2024 15:12

I'd be worried too op. Have you tried calling?

discoballdave · 16/11/2024 15:13

I'd be worried too OP. I assume you've tried calling - is her phone on and ringing or off?

MounjaroUser · 16/11/2024 15:14

I would be very worried. I think her partner ought to call the non-emergency police to ask them if they know of any accidents. Having said that, if her car was in an accident, the police would know where she lived because of her reg plate.

Ellerby83 · 16/11/2024 15:14

That is very concerning I would phone her dp now.

Philandbill · 16/11/2024 15:14

I would phone her DH now. I'd be worried too OP as she is usually reliable. Hope she is ok.

listsandbudgets · 16/11/2024 15:15

I can see the message was delivered but not read (whatsapp). I called just after posting above it's dropping to voice mail Wondering if she's lost her phone but would still not explain the long delay.

I'm going to call her dp - hopefully some simple explanation like broken down, phone battery gone and waiting forever for RAC or something like that - hope it's only that sort of thing

I fully get why you are worrying.
I hope she makes contact very soon and she is OK.

Ellerby83 · 16/11/2024 15:14

This. I don't understand why you are stalling on replying to him or posting on here. She set off on time, hasn't arrived, and hasn't messaged anybody. You should all be worried.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/11/2024 15:15

Sounds odd all round. How come you didn't contact her DP yourself much earlier? I can't believe people saying wait a bit to contact him.

Or do you think there is something going on with him? Any domestic issues that your friend may have told you about?

Fireworknight · 16/11/2024 15:16

I would contact the dh as well, to out him the picture. I’d be worried as well.

Hood she turns up safe and sound soon.

Havalona · 16/11/2024 15:17

I do hope everything works out and she is fine.

Statistically these incidents end well, but I do wish, if such people can, that their first priority (assuming they are ok) would be to let those who might be concerned know they are alright.

Fingers crossed for her safety.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/11/2024 15:18

Imagine if this ended up a missing person situation (god forbid). It would look really odd if friends and family just kind of left it for hours to see what would happen.

MorettiForMargo · 16/11/2024 15:18

I'd be worried.

Call her DP. Is it an iphone? Any chance DP could use Find My on another device to check where the phone is?

Objectrelations · 16/11/2024 15:19

How worrying hope she arrives soon !

JSMill · 16/11/2024 15:20

You need to reply to her dp.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/11/2024 15:22

Good that you're going to speak to her DP, you can gauge his mood from his voice hopefully. Much can go be misinterpreted over texts in situations like this.

LushLemonTart · 16/11/2024 15:22

How worrying. I hope you hear soon?

OchAyeTheN00 · 16/11/2024 15:23

This doesn’t sound good OP. Please update us, I hope your friend is ok.

Attelina · 16/11/2024 15:23

If she works during the week do you think she may have stopped off in a retail park and got carried away and as it's the weekend has Ben held up by queues and traffic?
