Where is my friend? getting worried now

Friend coming to stay and said she'd be here about 11am so we could have lunch together. Still no sign of her.

Her DP just texted me about 2.45pm and asked if she'd got here safely as she wasn't answering texts and usually drops him a quick text after long drives to let him now she's turned up. He said she left at 9.30am which is right as it's about an hour and a half. I sent her a text about 12.30 along the lines of don't worry about running late I can hold lunch see you in a bit - no reply.

I've looked at her route on google maps - no traffic holdups that I can see. Not yet replied to her DP - will have to say she's not arrived... luckily he's not the type to panic but he will be concerned obviously.

talk me down I'm imagining all sorts of awful things. I wouldn't worry about an hour or even 2 hours at a push but 4 hours late with no communication is concerning especially as I know she left on time and she's usually really reliable give or take 20 minutes

Hope she's ok, there are several logical non scary reasons for her to be delayed, but I would be getting worried now. With the trackers you hopefully will have an answer quickly

Fuckitydoodah · 16/11/2024 15:38

I'd be really worried as well.

I hope there's a simple explanation and all is well 🤞

There’s a tracker on her car?! How come he isn’t using that to find out where she is? And why is it on there?

Loads of cars have built in trackers now.

AhBiscuits · 16/11/2024 15:38

What a worry, I hope she turns up soon.

Most modern cars have built in trackers.

I always forget that mine has a tracker. It sometimes takes a while before I remember I can just open my app and check where the car is. If it's not something you use regularly it's easy to forget it is an option

Haggia · 16/11/2024 15:39

Did you send you the usual “setting off now” message? And can you see the last time she was online being as it sounds like WhatsApp?

Teanbiscuits33 · 16/11/2024 15:39

Don't you think it’s weird that there’s a tracker on her phone and her car!? I mean, if she’s genuinely missing I suppose that’s a good thing in this situation, but the fact it’s there in the first place is worrying in itself! Why is he tracking her? Has she got MH issues?

rainbowunicorn · 16/11/2024 15:39

banananapancake · 16/11/2024 15:35

I'm guessing it's a fancy car

Not really, loads of cars have built in trackers it doesn't have to be fancy.

BulldogMumma · 16/11/2024 15:39

I'd be very concerned, hopefully you or your DO hear from her soon

BobbyBiscuits · 16/11/2024 15:40

He needs to know you haven't seen or heard from her. Unless she's doing something else that she doesn't want anyone else to know about? Taking drugs/an affair? I'm not saying that as an insult but why else would someone divert themselves for that long. Keep calling her. I guess you need to report her missing to the police. I hope she's ok xx

SweetSakura · 16/11/2024 15:40

I hope she appears soon.

I was once so tired driving I realised I just had to stop and sleep for a couple of hours Blush

Ilikewinter · 16/11/2024 15:40

I hope she's OK, I would also be worrying by now.

OP literally said there is a tracker on the car so he's checking that too, how did you manage to read that as he's not checking it? It's very common for cars to have trackers.

I can see my partners location on find my iPhone and vice versa. We have a normal relationship but have it for reasons like this

You or her Dp that was meant to say

boymama2023 · 16/11/2024 15:42

What about her DP doing the same drive? Does he drive?

Workhardcryharder · 16/11/2024 15:42

If it was an affair she would have had to contact OP that she wasn't going to be there on time otherwise she'd know that OP would be worried and have to start ringing round. Drawing instant attention to the possibility of an affair.

He isn't 'tracking' her, he's is about to check the trackers as she's been missing for hours, a totally normal action. A huge amount of phones and cars have trackers on.

greengreyblue · 16/11/2024 15:43

Id be very concerned by now.

Depends. Trackers are far more standard these days and not necessarily something dodgy going on. My car came with a built in tracker and as a family we use life 360 to be able to keep an eye on our tween/teen children who walk to and from school on their own

Questionary · 16/11/2024 15:43

Oh how worrying

Bit surprised you didn’t reply to him sooner when he asked if she’d arrived. I hope him being able to track the car can make sure she gets help if she needs it

You're surprised she might have a tracker on her car and/or her phone?

Are people actually this naive in thinking that their technology doesn't have this? Yes, it can be (mostly) disabled, but I guess if you don't know it's there, you won't have disabled it?

If he's using HER laptop to trace her phone location presumably it's just the standard 'find my phone' and not him tracking her as standard. Car tracker could be built in.

I hope she turns up safe & sound soon OP. I'd be worried too.

summernights24 · 16/11/2024 15:44

Hope she is found safe and well
