Where is my friend? getting worried now

Friend coming to stay and said she'd be here about 11am so we could have lunch together. Still no sign of her.

Her DP just texted me about 2.45pm and asked if she'd got here safely as she wasn't answering texts and usually drops him a quick text after long drives to let him now she's turned up. He said she left at 9.30am which is right as it's about an hour and a half. I sent her a text about 12.30 along the lines of don't worry about running late I can hold lunch see you in a bit - no reply.

I've looked at her route on google maps - no traffic holdups that I can see. Not yet replied to her DP - will have to say she's not arrived... luckily he's not the type to panic but he will be concerned obviously.

talk me down I'm imagining all sorts of awful things. I wouldn't worry about an hour or even 2 hours at a push but 4 hours late with no communication is concerning especially as I know she left on time and she's usually really reliable give or take 20 minutes

Agree it's worrying, think time to call non-emergency police if hear nothing in the next hour.

Fraaahnces · 16/11/2024 15:28

Call the police. I’m suspicious of him.

IkeaJesusChrist · 16/11/2024 15:28

I'd call her DP immediately.

drippingtapp · 16/11/2024 15:29

I would be worried but equally if there is a reasonable explanation for something; that's usually it. I hope you hear from her soon

Anon1274 · 16/11/2024 15:29

Can you drive the route yourself to see what may have happened?

NormaNormalPants · 16/11/2024 15:30

Fingers crossed there’s a simple explanation and friend is fine 🤞🏻

listsandbudgets · 16/11/2024 15:31

Spoken to her DP he's as mystified as me. He is going to use her laptop to try to trace her phone. He says there's also a tracker on the car so he'll check that too. Then he wants to phone the police if no luck with that. Thankfully he's a completely calm type of person

I suppose I didn't contact anyone before / do anything as I just kept thinking she'll be here in 20 minutes, probably left late, maybe caught in traffic, got tired and stopped for a break, got a flat tyre, broken down etc. etc. - all the usual rational explanations

PullTheBricksDown · 16/11/2024 15:31

Yes, don't know why anyone is saying wait! She has been effectively missing and out of contact for hours when she was expected to arrive. What happens when you ring her phone? Her partner may have something that would track her phone.

DurinsBane · 16/11/2024 15:31

Affair, dropped in to see her lover on the way?

Sadly not I don't drive or I certainly would.

LostittoBostik · 16/11/2024 15:32

I'd be worried too - was the route she drove busy/tricky?

DurinsBane · 16/11/2024 15:33

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/11/2024 15:15

Sounds odd all round. How come you didn't contact her DP yourself much earlier? I can't believe people saying wait a bit to contact him.

Or do you think there is something going on with him? Any domestic issues that your friend may have told you about?

The sisterhood. If there was any chance it would be because of another man, she couldn’t take a chance of making the husband suspicious

Elphamouche · 16/11/2024 15:34

I’d be worried as well, once DH has text you concerned he’s not heard, that would be alarm bells for me!

I hope she’s okay x

What????

I wish I was a troll.. could go and live under a bridge and eat fish in peace.

I've seen people start mumsnet threads about their babies being really ill and whehter they should go to A&E.. we live in a very weird and wonderful world. Waiting for her DP to call back now

There’s a tracker on her car?! How come he isn’t using that to find out where she is? And why is it on there?

Lindjam · 16/11/2024 15:35

I would be worried too. Keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome.

You're suspicious of him? How so?

I'm guessing it's a fancy car

Most modern cars have built in trackers.

Snowpaw · 16/11/2024 15:36

I am wondering why her DP didn't look at the tracker earlier if he is worried.

Ignore the idiots, I hope she’s okay and turns up soon ❤️

Presumably because OP never alerted him that she never arrived and he assumed she was where she'd planned to be?

A lot of new cars come with trackers and you cab check where the car is at any time

Sarah2891 · 16/11/2024 15:37

Unlikely maybe but I'd be wondering if she did actually leave her house. If the car broke down you'd think she'd contact you or her partner.

Hope she's okay though OP and you hear soon.

Because he probably wasn't that worried and doesn't make a habit of tracking his partner? But now is worried so is going to have a look
