What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

Do you want to go back to higher numbers of injuries and deaths?

The thread was about small things, not road deaths.

Edited

If the first poster lives in Wales then I feel the pain.
A change on all residential roads from 30 to 20 has not been backed up by data to show it will / has reduced injuries or deaths. Unless you also live in Wales and experience this every single day, possibly you're unqualified to comment.

Look on the back of the wrappers where the ingredients/address etc is, if it says. ‘made under licence from Cadbury uk” don’t buy it. If you find one without that it’s much more like the old Cadbury’s!

Interesting - just found that licence note on my box, thought it was thinner than usual (Yule logs) - but how / where do you find ones without this?

Waitrose own brand toilet rolls went from being brilliant to absolutely shit, so not a small change really !

Do you mean before and after use? If so that’s supposed to happen.

Cadbury's chocolate buttons still taste the same.

There seems to be two versions of Fairy Liquid for sale. One is weaker.

What’s with the upside down bottle one? ( that’s the weaker one isn’t it!)

Oh no you don't kill spiders do you? Even my severely spider phobic daughter never did that. Mind you she got cured so now she picks them up (the smaller ones) and puts them outside The cure involved me catching and looking after numerous spiders over a few weeks and then letting them go one by one in the bathroom - she jumped in the bath. Such fun!

You did that to your daughter? What mother does that to get their kicks out of seeing their kid terrified? Disgusting.

You're the one who kills spiders so you really have no call to tell other people that they are disgusting. Your post disgusted me.

M&S baguettes have suddenly gone very sweet tasting. Tomato flavour Wheat Crunchies have vanished. And what’s going on with the emergency services blue in fairy lights?

They’ve taken the Netflix app off the Talk Talk box and the only way I can access it now is via my glitchy Amazon fire stick and I haven’t as yet been able to sign in. I would classify this as a major disaster actually.

Get a roku stick.

I can't find who sent it but thank you so much to the poster who told me Perky Blenders coffee is on sale in B&M. Have just bought 12 tins!

That was me, i'm so glad you found it!

Fentimens switching to stevia. Their cola used to be one of my favourite treats. Disgusting now so I no longer buy it.

@Purplewarrior - oh my goodness, Eau de Givenchy - my all time favourite perfume from when I was a student. Then it disappeared 😿. I think about it all the time.

I once found an old bottle in a French gite amongst a collection of ancient perfumes that the owner had left for visitors to use. It still smelled beautiful and I wish I’d had the courage to ask if I could buy it from her! (I’m sure she’d have thought I was quite mad if I had done 😹)

I also loved Givenchy 111, which I believe is still around to buy online. However, I don’t know if the formulation has changed, (and it’s too expensive to buy without being able to smell it first!)

Is this the one?

I still remember my disappointment after I tried Mackintosh Quality Street after a couple of decades. They had always been a childhood special treat. Everything about them was disappointing - the taste, the quality of the ingredients, the size of the individual choccies, the reduced selection, and even the tin they came in was tinny.

Wow, over the top or what!!

DD's psychologist required her to get desensitised and firstly I'd to collect tiny spiders and I kept them in a big tank with twigs etc in. DD had to look at them through the glass, then with the lid off, then put her hand in, then move her hand near to them, then I took one out and she'd to put her hand near mine. And so it proceeded over many months. It was a hassle, a pain and emotionally draining for both of us. The idea that I did it to hurt her is, to use your word, disgusting. What gives you the idea that I did it "to get kicks"? I did it to help her therapy prescribed by the NHS. I don't think the therapist was going to collect and look after damned spiders on their sideboard for weeks on end.
The episode in the bathroom was awful, and I didn't think it had achieved anything, but DD worked on it at her home last autumn and recently she found a spider in my house and picked it up and put it out. I was completely shocked and very proud of her, she's worked so hard on this.
I used to have a dreadful phobia of snakes and luckily was virtually cured in a 30 minute session with a hypnotherapist. DD did the same and it lasted a couple of years until she started scanning the walls and ceilings when she came into a room. Hopefully my help this time. along with her therapist will have longer lasting results.

The clocks changing 😵‍💫 it takes me weeks to stop saying “but the real time is”, why is my brain like this?!

When they go back, it's absolutely disastrous for my S.A.D.

CrowleyKitten · 17/11/2024 02:15

a very niche niggle, but we WERE going to be getting series 3 of Good Omens.
then all the crap came out about Gaiman, and it came THIS close to being cancelled. the Pratchett estate stepped in and saved it. (they wrote it together, and in fact, Pratchett wrote most of it, based on a Gaiman unpublished short story) sort of. we're now getting a 90 minute film finale, instead of 6 episodes at about 40 minutes.
I'm glad it was saved but I'm so sad about all the fun little details we won't get now.
apparently people had been let go from their contracts, and they'd started dismantling the sets they'd paid to keep up for several years for the next series.

at least we're going to get our ending, and it doesn't end on the series 2 cliffhanger, but I'm sad and angry about what we've lost because of another celeb that's proved incapable of being a decent person.

Heinz Beanz and Sausages.
Used to be a camping staple, and since the recipe change I can't eat them any more. It's a very odd change too, they're partnered with Richmond so the meat content has been reduced and they've added an allergen that wasn't there before. I'm not sure what Heinz thought they were doing partnering with a down-market, poor quality product like Richmond sausages.

when Richmond brought out their meat free sausages, I was always joking that it's 2% less meat content than their normal sausages

Yes, what's happened to it?

Although I've recently discovered their lentil and bacon soup - lovely!

I've not tried theirs, but my stepdad makes the most amazing lentil, bacon and carrot soup. it's PROPER comfort food. so delicious and warming.

I didn’t realise anyone except Tate & Lyle made treacle!

I’m showing my ignorance, but I don’t actually KNOW if there’s a difference between the treacle I had as a kid in the ‘60’s.. in a dark red and gold tin, and Blackstrap molasses.
I just feel tat the taste of the molasses, takes me back to being about fourteen, and while my darling mum was at work, I’d prise off the tin lid and had a sneaky teaspoon of the dark delicious stickiness that seemed to send me to my own litre version of heaven…. Yes ! I was a weird child 🤦‍♀️
I only discovered the BS Molasses, as a website was promoting its health benefits..
also brill as an ingredient in homemade sticky ginger cake… mmmmmm!

Blue fairly lights often go up for Diwali. I might be misunderstanding your question. But Diwali was recent (end of Oct) so there were a lot of colourful fairly lights up (lots of blue!) Where I live anyway.

PRET has been absolutely destroyed, the other day I had a breakfast egg bap and it only had half the normal amount of egg! Their sandwiches have reduced filling and all the staff that used to be happy and cosy now seem sad and tired. They used to give away freebies as their loyalty scheme instead of loyalty cards, but no longer. It’s also way more expensive. Pret used to be my go to and I had really high brand loyalty but now I actively avoid unless I’m at an airport or something.

In 2018 the founders of Pret exited when it was sold to a German conglomerate and I think that was when it started to go downhill.

I had the most minging tuna sandwich from their recently. More mayonnaise than tuna and it was like mush. I took it back and haven’t been in a Pret since.
