What’s a “small” change that hit you harder than it should have?

I’m still gutted about the recipe change for Robinsons Summer Fruits Refreshed. That was one of my absolute favourites, and Ribena Strawberry was right up there too, but I just can’t get into the new versions at all. I also never got over the switch they made to Robinsons Fruit & Barley Summer Fruits. Anyone else have a “small” change like this that just hit a little harder than expected? What have you been gutted about that's really not a big deal to others?

Well done!

I have a phobia and do kill them. What about that? Ppl are all different....loads of learning going on this morning for some!

What gives you the right to think you can kill them. They are harmless and a very important part of the food chain. Shame on you!

Jifmicroliquid · 16/11/2024 21:46

I’ve remembered another one- Cadbury’s Animal Biscuits used to be made with the same white sort of biscuit that you get in a cadburys finger.
Now they’ve changed it to this darker, bland biscuit and they are absolutely disgusting.

They have ruined them completely.

Zaichik · 16/11/2024 21:49

The discontinuation of Breakaway biscuits earlier this year. Even though they were not really the same as they were in the 70s, I still ate them and felt I'd lost something from my childhood when they disappeared.

All the yogurts and drinks (and sometimes other stuff like ice cream) which decided adding artificial sweeteners was a better idea than just raising the price a bit with the sugar tax. I can't have any of them now and my choice of drinks has diminished hugely, especially on a night out if I don't want wine or beer. Places that use Pepsi rather than Coke make it even worse. If I go into Taco Bell when I'm through in the city then literally the only drink that I can have there is water.

Absolutely agree with you! The sweeteners they have added actually make my tummy go funny too. I’d gladly pay a bit more for the sugar! They’ve ruined squash! All mixers!
I feel you completely my choice is just water in a lot of places. I’ve taken to having non alcoholic versions of things (Kopperbarg, cider, larger etc) They haven’t messed with them!

Utterknowitall · 16/11/2024 21:49

You can't buy Selsun anymore, or Tyrozets 😔

@WahWahWahs I felt the exact same way when I opened a tin of Quality Street the other day. Everything seemed to have hint of orange and the purple one was gone Easter Sad.

Nooo! The purple one gone?

Mt61 · 16/11/2024 21:54

Stopped buying pears soap when they altered the ingredients, doesn’t smell as nice.

PrinnyPree · 16/11/2024 21:58

Sainsburys petite pois are just normal sized peas now.

Bourjois serum foundation being discontinued is probably the hardest hitting, can't find anything that goes on as nice even the more expensive brands. Using MAC face and body but doesn't have the same coverage.

Oh shit yeah and discontinued loreal liquid superliner (although liquid liner doesn't go on my lids as nice this side of 40...)

They changed the colour of the street lights on my road from orange to white a few years back and I'm honestly still livid about it.
Literally no one else has noticed. My DH didn't notice till i pointed it out
It bothers me so much abd it also bothers me that it bothers me lol
I HATE the white light.
Outraged the council can just change the colour of the night time without asking.

White are LEDs and cheap to run

LlynTegid · 16/11/2024 22:01

A few years ago now though. TCP only being available in liquid form not as an ointment.

And the liquid smelt quite disgusting

Agree about the Robinson's drinks. They have gone really watery and look like they are already diluted. I used to love the Peach one but it's not as good any more.

I've always found the Robinson one too sweet and prefer the supermarket own brands, especially aldi. X

Yet still make the shit Blue Riband. What's that about?

Whatinthedoopla · 16/11/2024 22:09

Products in Poundland are no longer £1

Auburngal · 16/11/2024 22:10

I cannot stand the smell of original washing up liquid, especially Fairy. It makes me gag.

RememberRememberTheMonthofNovember · 16/11/2024 22:12

@Fedupandstressed wrote Our council switch ours at 11pm until 6am now. Not fun walking home alone.

Our (county) council proposed switching off the lights from 1am or 2am to 6am. Outcry. The (city) council said they’d pay for the extra 4 or 5 hours - it’s a university city so presumably there are lots of students out in the early hours. Then the county council said they’d pay for it after all.

I don’t know who’s paying for it now but the lights seem to be on all night. Have lots of people complained to your council?

A torch may be a help in finding your way home but it doesn’t light up unpleasant people who may be hiding off the path. I was going to write “hiding in the shadows” but there aren’t any.

Do you honestly think me killing 4 or 5 spiders a year will upset the global food chain that much?

Never go to the east where they eat them.....you'll need a jacket that lets you hug yourself after seeing that!

shellyleppard · 16/11/2024 22:14

@Mileymileymoomoo Seabrook's do a Worcester sauce version.....its the closest thing to walkers!!

Blackcountryexile · 16/11/2024 22:17

@PrinnyPree I don't know if it's the same formulation but Superdrug stock Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation.

TheThreeCheesesOfTheApocalypse44 · 16/11/2024 22:17

Irn Bru.

And chicken and mushroom pot noodles haven't been the same either since the fuckers healtherised.

Catsmere · 16/11/2024 22:17

The disappearance of Arnott's Chocolate Royals. They still have the milk chocolate and pink marshmallow ones, but the dark chocolate and plain marshmallow, the ultimate luxury biscuit of my childhood, were withdrawn years ago. Bastards.

Choosenandenough · 16/11/2024 22:18

Miss Dior perfume changing completely. It’s my smell. And it reminds me of times when my mum was still here and my ex was still here and I was really happy and I cannot face running out of the 30 sprays max that I have left in the bottle.

The disappearance of Spud U Like

I loved Spud U Like! Especially their garlic bread.
